  • This paper is to introduce an application of face recognition algorithm in parallel. We have experiments of 25 images with different motions and simulated the image recognitions; grouping of the image vectors, image normalization, calculating average image vectors, etc. We also discuss an analysis of the related eigen-image vectors and a parallel algorithm. To develop the parallel algorithm, we propose a new type of initial matrices for eigenvalue problem. If A is a symmetric matrix, initial matrices for eigen value problem are investigated: the "optimal" one, which minimize ${\parallel}C-A{\parallel}_F$ and the "super optimal", which minimize ${\parallel}I-C^{-1}A{\parallel}_F$. In this paper, we present a general new approach to the design of an initial matrices to solving eigenvalue problem based on the new optimal investigating C with preserving the characteristic of the given matrix A. Fast all resulting can be inverted via fast transform algorithms with O(N log N) operations.

  • Recently, the number of subscribers of the webtoons published by some major internet portal companies and others is increasing and their revenues are continually rising. Accordingly, a number of studies are being conducted for this phenomenon. For the uploaders off webtoons, their works are graded and added up for the promotion review but the criteria of such a promotion system usually fall short of readers' expectations. Although most of the subscribes of webtoons are drawn into subscription mainly by the recommendation of people around them, the responses from the new subscribers were often quite different from what the portal companies have anticipated, affecting the rank of the webtoon. Thus, a promotion management system which provides a reliable and clear method of assessment is proposed in this study including the revenue and copyright management scheme for the cartoonists.

  • Understanding actions in videos is an important task. It helps in finding the anomalies present in videos such as fights. Detection of fights becomes more crucial when it comes to sports. This paper focuses on finding fight scenes in Hockey sport videos using blur & radon transform and convolutional neural networks (CNNs). First, the local motion within the video frames has been extracted using blur information. Next, fast fourier and radon transform have been applied on the local motion. The video frames with fight scene have been identified using transfer learning with the help of pre-trained deep learning model VGG-Net. Finally, a comparison of the methodology has been performed using feed forward neural networks. Accuracies of 56.00% and 75.00% have been achieved using feed forward neural network and VGG16-Net, respectively.

  • This paper proposes a low-cost method for counting people based on blob detection and blob tracking. Here background subtraction is used to detected blob and then the blob is classified with its width and height to specify that the blob is a person. In this system we first define the area of entry and exit point in the video frame. The counting of people starts when midpoint of the people blob crosses the defined point. Finally, total number of people entry and exit from the place is displayed. Experiment result of this proposed system has high accuracy in real-time performance.

  • In a basic engineering design class, first year engineering department students learn about engineering design relevant theories and carry out simple projects in teams. By doing a group project in this subject, students develop basic skills such as creativity, teamwork, communication, and problem solving. Before, class proceeded in a way where teams were randomly configured in the beginning of semester and students began working on their project immediately. However, this research introduces a new method where at the beginning of the semester, students are assigned group assignments. Teammates are randomly chosen and constantly switched so that students get a chance to work with different people and experience diverse styles and characteristics. Then, they autonomously form into teams with people they work best and carry out their project. We present the behavior of a monkey robot that recognizes emotions as a case of applying the proposed method. The feedback from the students suggest that this proposed team forming method serves to be effective especially since students who were not aware of other students' characteristics can get to know one another better and form a productive team.

  • Various security threats exist in the smart grid environment due to the fact that information and communication technology are grafted onto an existing power grid. In particular, smart metering data exposes a variety of information such as users' life patterns and devices in use, and thereby serious infringement on personal information may occur. Therefore, we are in a situation where a de-identification algorithm suitable for metering data is required. Hence, this paper proposes a new de-identification method for metering data. The proposed method processes time information and numerical information as de-identification data, respectively, so that pattern information cannot be analyzed by the data. In addition, such a method has an advantage that a query such as a direct range search and aggregation processing in a database can be performed even in a de-identified state for statistical processing and availability.

  • The visual impact of fonts on lots of documents and design work is significant. Accordingly, the users desire to appropriately use fonts suitable for their intention. However, existing font recommendation programs are difficult to consider what users want. Therefore, we propose a font recommendation system based on user-evaluated font attribute value. The properties of a font are called attributes. In this paper, we propose a font recommendation module that recommends a user 's desired font using the attributes of the font. In addition, we classify each attribute into three types of usage, personality, and shape, suggesting the font that is closest to the desired font, and suggest an optimal font recommendation algorithm. In addition, weights can be set for each use, personality, and shape category to increase the weight of each category, and when a weight is used, a more suitable font can be recommended to the user.

  • In this paper, we propose a vision-based object detection and tracking system using online learning. The proposed system adopts a feature point-based method for tracking a series of inter-frame movement of a newly detected object, to estimate rapidly and toughness. At the same time, it trains the detector for the object being tracked online. Temporarily using the result of the failure detector to the object, it initializes the tracker back tracks to enable the robust tracking. In particular, it reduced the processing time by improving the method of updating the appearance models of the objects to increase the tracking performance of the system. Using a data set obtained in a variety of settings, we evaluate the performance of the proposed system in terms of processing time.

  • In this paper, we implement to make the character content with the floating hologram. The floating hologram is the one of hologram techniques for projecting the 2D image to represent the 3D image in the air using the glass panel. The floating hologram technique is easy to apply and is used in exhibitions, corporate events, and advertising events. This paper uses both the depth information and the unreal engine for the floating hologram. Simulation results show that this method can make the character content to follow the movement of the user in the real time by capturing the depth video.

  • In this study, we propose a method which is based on "Image segmentation by histogram thresholding using hierarchical cluster analysis"/HCA/ and "A nonparametric approach for histogram segmentation"/NHS/. HCA method uses that all histogram bins are one cluster then it reduces cluster numbers by using distance metric. Because this method has too many clusters, it is more computation. In order to eliminate disadvantages of "HCA" method, we used "NHS" method. NHS method finds all local minima of histogram. To reduce cluster number, we use NHS method which is fast. In our approach, we combine those two methods to eliminate disadvantages of Arifin method. The proposed method is not only less computational than "HCA" method because combined method has few clusters but also it uses local minima of histogram which is computed by "NHS".
