The role and distribution of fresh water algae was surveyed at Wangdeungjae Wetland of Mt. Jiri, a high mountain swampy land. Mean environmental factors were as follows; temperature was $17.6^{\circ}C$, pH was 6.3, conductivity was $24.6{\mu}S/cm$, TN was 0.6 mg/L, TP was 0.09 mg/L, and Chl-a was $11.9{\mu}g/L$, respectively. Algae were appeared 159 species(Chlorophyta 87, Bacillariophyta 56, Euglenophyta 11, and Cyanophyta 5). Desmid of Chlorophyta was 56 species, and dominant species was Aulacoseira distans of Bacillariophyta. To analyze food chain of the water ecosystem, we performed analysis of tadpole's stomach captured in the wetland. Tadpoles ingested mainly algae, and Aulacoseira distans was found in most quantity. Based on this study, algae take role of the primary producer as well as the prey of higher level predators(e.g. tadpoles) in the water ecosystem of Wangdeungjae Wetland.
This study examined the habitat status of wild birds at closed-trails and the control group of opened-trails in the national park of the Baekdudaegan mountains. After evaluating each area based on this, it's aimed at being utilized as basic data for future national park management and opening of trails. Upon field investigations and analyzing existing literary materials, it was found that there were a total of 76 bird species living around the trails. Among them, it was confirmed that 60 species can breeding and 10 species are protected by law. Upon assessing the scores of each area according to the evaluation standards of this study, Area I had 7 scores, area II had 13 scores, area III had 5 scores, and area IV had 16 scores, showing that the control group open-trail area IV between Jeongryeongchi and Seongsamjae had the highest score, and that area III of Wolyeongdae~Chotdaebong~Daeyasan~Miljae~Wolyeongdae had the lowest score. Evaluation of closed-trail according to wild bird species (Avifauna) was attempted in this study, but there were more bird species living in open-trails, while also having higher evaluation scores. Therefore, if opening trail is needed in the future due to excessive desires of visitors or inevitable social demands, it is judged that various environmental factors including mammals highly affected by people should be evaluated to open up the sector with the lowest score. Also, it is judged that through methods such as reservation systems, the number of visitors should be controlled or night-time hikes should be prohibited so that nocturnal wildlife can freely use the trails.
This study set put to measure the environmental radiation for mountainous regions of National Parks where Integrated Environmental Radiation Monitoring Network is not installed. For the measurement method, the space dose was classified at 1 meter high from the surface and the index dose at the surface. The measured radiation energy measured gamma, alpha and beta rays. For selection of national parks, we selected 10 national parks which are within the same distribution in the southern part and central part of the nation. For measurement equipment, INTERCEPTOR$^{TM}$(Thermo, USA, 2006) was used for gamma rays. As for the results of the measurements, for the space gamma dose, a high level was measured at a sea level of 500 meter in national parks with an altitude of less than 1,000 meter. It was found that the value was more than $0.23{\mu}Svh^{-1}$ especially in Bukhan Mountain, Gyeryong Mountain and Wolchul Mountain. In national parks with an altitude of more than 1,000 meter, $1.77{\mu}Svh^{-1}$ was measured at 1,500 meter at Seorak Mountain. Therefore, this is 10 times greater than the background standard dose. The national parks were there were no significant changes in dose were Naejang Mountain, Sobaek and Jiri Mountains. For the measurement of the index dose, a high dose level was measured at middle altitudes of 500 meter and 1,000 meter. For measurement according to the composition types of crust, high doses were recorded at national parks composed of rocks and a lower environmental radiation level was measured at Hanra Mountain where volcanic activities have occurred.

This study monitored forest plant species vulnerable to climate change in Jiri Mountain, one of Korea's representative alpine regions, in order to securely preserve plant genetic resources susceptible to climate change and to utilize the results as basic data for bioclimatology prediction and management on a long-term basis. A majority of indicator plants tended to blossom one week to one month later in 2010 than in 2009. As with the blooming dates, the falling dates of blossoms became later in most species, with the exception for Weigela florida and Oplopanax elatus. Leaf bursting as well fell on later dates in a majority of species excluding Carpinus laxiflora and Cupressus sempervirens, displaying the most obvious differences among the data of analysis of the 2009-2010 physiological cycle changes. It is believed that was due to the fact that temperatures in February, March and April, which affect plants' blossoming and leaf bursting, were lower in 2010 than in 2009 and that cold temperatures in the winter lasted for a longer period in 2010 than in 2009. The dates of leaves being changed to red were similar in 2009 and 2010 by being or later or earlier by several weeks in 2010 than in 2009 without any regularity. Most species' leaves began to fall at similar dates in 2009 and 2010 or at later dates by one to two weeks in 2010 than in 2009. The temperature differences in late 2009 and late 2010 were not so large, resulting in similar dates of falling leaves, and gaps in several indicator plants' physiological cycles without any regularity can be attributed to each individual plant's physiological and environmental characteristics.

The study of Arundinaria munsuensis Y. Lee to this day was limited to the field of morphological species classification since its first discovery at Jiri mountain in the late 1990s. This native plants, one of Korean endemic species found in Jiri Mt. necessitates further studies about its use as revegetation plants or groundcover plants in urban areas. This study was launched from this need followed by summaries of results below related to its usage. This targeted species is a native Korean species which its natural distribution on the subalpine zone has merit for the wide range of climatic adaptation. Also, the coverage rate reached 78.3% in three years mostly by rhizome growth with an expectation of full coverage in four years providing less maintenance needs after planting. The net price for the construction of pot seedling methods of this plants is relatively economical than other normal revegetation construction methods. For these reasons, drilling for the plants on cut and fill soil slopes driven from pot seedling adapts Arundinaria munsuensis Y. Lee as efficient revegetation plant. Total construction cost for pot seedling work($30cm{\times}30cm$) of Arundinaria munsuensis was approximately 21,000won which is in reasonable price range when compared to other revegetation construction methods of disturbed slopes. As a native Korean plant, Arundinaria munsuensis has wide range of climatic adaptation with less maintenance requirement after planting. This study may suggest a strong possibility of Arundinaria munsuensis as a pot planting material in sloped area.
A survey which was to find out visitor's behavior and their satisfaction on nature trails in Mt. Jiri National Park was conducted to provide basic information and management methods. According to the survey, major visitors were male with the age between 40 and 50, and the residents of Gyeongnam with relatively high academic background. The visitors had obtained information about natural trail mainly from other visitor, not from internet. The visitors were mainly composed of big group and family. The main purpose of visiting was to escape congested everyday in Yupyeong and Hadong district, and to enjoy mountain climbing in Jungsanri and Baekmudong district. Although there were differences among districts, most visitors were satisfied with natural interpretation program. About 40% were recognized optimum length of nature trails as 2km and less.

In this research, monoterpene emissions were investigated from pine trees(Pinus densiflora) and in the forest air in Simwon village at the Jiri Mountain. Air samples from an enclosed chamber and pine forest air were collected using a Tenax TA Tube five times a day(at 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, and 17:00) on 1 day per month from March to November 2014. Selected needles and branches from individual pine trees were enclosed for the measurement of their monoterpene emissions. The concentration and composition of emitted monoterpenes were analyzed in a time series. The major components of monoterpenes emitted from pine trees were α-pinene, β-myrcene, β-phellandrene, and β-pinene. Seasonal data showed that the concentration of monoterpenes emitted from pine trees began increasing in June and reached its peak in August, decreasing thereafter. In addition, seasonal emissions of monoterpenes were dependent on environmental factors such as temperature. The major species of monoterpenes in forest air were α-pinene, β-pinene, and camphene. The concentration of monoterpenes in forest air began rising from March to April and reached its peak in May; multiple peaks subsequently formed in July and November. Diurnal variation in monoterpenes decreased from 09:00-10:00, reaching a low and high at 13:00-14:00 and 17:00-18:00, respectively.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the feasibility of using Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)/Geoid technology in determining orthometric height in mountain. For the study, a test bed was set up in and around Mount Jiri and GNSS surveying were conducted. The orthometric height of 39 benchmarks was determined by applying the EGM2008, KNGeoid13, and KNGeoid14 geoid models and the accuracy was estimated by comparing with the offical Benchmarks orthometric height value issued by National Geographic Information Institute(NGII) and finally, the results were analyzed with the Aerial Photogrammetry Work Regulations. As a result of the study, it was found that the accuracy of the orthometric height determination by GNSS/Geoid technology was ${\pm}7.1cm$ when the KNGeoid14 geoid model was applied. And also, it can be confirmed that it is usable for the less than 1/1000 plotting scales as a vertical reference point for the aerial triangulation in Aerial Photogrammetry.
The height of the steps was almost the same as the grain size of bed materials and increased with channel slope. The step widths and step wavelengths are almost the same size, and the step wavelength was decreased when the channel slope was increased. It was analyzed that there was a clear correlation between channel width and step width, and the step width increases with channel width. In addition, the step wavelength was scaled by channel width, and the step height is governed by the grain size of the rock forming the step, so that the profile structure of the step-pool was changed according to the channel slope. the scale of the pool was found to be highly correlated with the channel width, grain size, and slope gradient. Therefore, the characteristics of step-pool structure in mountain streams were influenced by various factors, but it can be explained as the grain size, channel width and channel slope.
The aims of this study was to investigate environmental views of national park rangers and their perspectives on natural environment interpretation as managers and to provide a basic resource to make programs regarding natural environment interpretation improve. The specially designed questionnaire was administered to twenty-five national park rangers who had worked at the southern office of Jiri Mountain National Park. Analysis results are as follows. They had have concerns with environmental problems and about preservation of natural environment. Most of them thought that the purpose of natural environment interpretation was to make change regarding public perceptions and attitudes toward natural environment. Over sixty percents of them recognized that publics had rarely participated in the natural environment interpretation program prepared by a national park. It was turned out that public had not concerned with the program because of the lack of their interests and recognitions regarding the natural environment interpretation program due to the lack of active advertisement for it. It is expected that national park rangers need to advertise the necessity of the program and to manage the program effective with more active mind as well as to develop and practice more appropriate programs for natural environment interpretation.
