  • Purpose: This study conducted an empirical study to estimate the loss aversion rate of individual investors in the Seoul condominium market. Research design, data and methodology: A survey was conducted with Seoul residents ranging from 30's to 60's with various backgrounds. Descriptive statistical analysis and a paired sample t-test were conducted using SPSS 27.0 statistical package. Results: The results of the t-test showed that Seoul residents are indeed more sensitive to loss than gains, as pointed out in various researches related to behavioral economics. Also, the loss aversion rate associated with KRW 50 million risk was found to be 2.14. Finally, the same question was asked with KRW 100 million risk, doubled associated risk of previous question, using the same scenario, and it's been verified that the loss aversion rate increases as the associated risk or stake increases. The loss aversion rate with double risk is 2.26 which is about 5% higher than the one with KRW 50 million risk. Conclusions: This study can help many groups of people in society who need to establish rewards and punishment policies within any organization. In particular, incorporating human cognitive biases, such as loss aversion can help the South Korean government shape more effective reward and punishment policies when building rewards and punishments using taxes.

  • The study examined the socio-economic factors influencing the participation of rural farming households in barter trade in Ondo State, Nigeria. The objectives were to compare the socio-economic characteristics of the participants and non-participants in barter trade, analyze the preference for barter trade and identify the constraints to it. Also, the factors affecting respondents' participation in barter trade were identified. Empirical results indicated that there were significant differences in the socio-economic characteristics of the participants and non-participants in barter trade. The SWOT analysis showed that possession of agrarian attributes by the locality where the trade is practiced was the strongest factor ensuring the survival of barter in the study area. Double coincidence of wants was found to be the most prevailing weakness associated with barter while the major reason for participation by some households was that the quantity of commodities received is usually higher compared with cash transactions. Transportation cost to barter markets was found to be the greatest threat to the continued existence of barter trade in the area. The results of the Probit model showed that age, household size, transportation cost to cash markets, farm size, distance to barter markets, and formal education significantly affected the probability participating in barter trade.

  • Purpose: As a major economy attracting foreign investment, China is currently facing significant international economic pressure due to the appreciation of the RMB. Additionally, China is at a critical period of socio-economic development, where foreign direct investment (FDI) plays an indispensable role in stabilizing economic growth, adjusting industrial structure, and promoting economic transformation. Research design, data and methodology: This paper focuses on the relationship between RMB exchange rate expectations and FDI. It examines the magnitude of their relationship through empirical research using cointegration tests, Granger causality tests, and BVAR (Bayesian Vector Autoregression) analysis. Results: The comprehensive study of the empirical results in this paper concludes that there is a long-term cointegrated relationship between China's RMB exchange rate expectations and foreign direct investment, indicating that their relationship is stable in the long run. It is also found that RMB exchange rate expectations have a significantly positive impact in the short term, but this impact is not significant in the long term. Conclusions: The paper also considers the possibility of establishing a China-EU Free Trade Area in the future and offers policy recommendations regarding RMB exchange rate expectations and foreign direct investment.

  • This study tried to examine how interdependence, communication, and the exercise of power in cosmetics distribution channel would affect satisfaction. In this study we investigated the effects of their communication and the exercise of noncoercive power of department store (or mart). We conducted with managers of the shops which were entered to department store (or mart). 131 copies were collected and 119 copies were used for analysis after the exclusion of 12 copies. Brand image and sales policy influenced satisfaction, but customers were not statistically significant. In addition, communication in distribution path had the moderating effect on the relationship between interdependence and satisfaction, and on the relationship between interdependence and noncoercive power. Sales policy and brand image in the relationship between department store(or mart) and the shops opened inside are critical factors for satisfaction, but customers are highly likely to become a factor with different meaning.
