  • This paper describers a bidirectional DC/DC converter for charging and discharging of a supercapacitor. Simulations are carried out to see the operation and performance of the 3kW-rated converter. Simulation results show that the charging/discharging characteristics is sufficient for the compensation of the response delay of a fuel cell.

  • This paper proposed a method for controlling the active power of a single-phase grid-connected photovoltaic(PV) system by the quasi-Z-source inverter (QZSI). The MPPT of PV array is achieved by adjusting a shoot-through time of QZSI. The PI+R controller is used for reducing the steady-state error of the grid current. The simulation studies are carried out to verify the performances of proposed system.

  • 본 논문에서는 경계 모드(Critical Mode) 플라이백 타입의 DC-AC 인버터에 인터리빙을 적용한 디지털 제어를 제안한다. 연속모드(CCM)나 불연속모드(DCM)와 달리 경계 모드의 경우 주파수가 가변되기 때문에 인터리빙으로 구현하기는 상당히 까다로운 측면이 있다. 또한 아날로그 제어기로 구현에 한계를 지니기 때문에 보다 간편한 구현을 위해 디지털 제어IC을 이용하여 구현하는 방법에 대해 기술한다. 본문에서 200W급 플라이백 타입의 DC-AC 인버터에 경계모드 인터리빙을 방법을 적용한 후 실험으로 검증한다.

  • This paper describes a new method for the seamless operation mode transfer of a PCS. The proposed method provides reduced STS turn off time and smooth mode change between current and voltage control of the PCS in case of line fault. The usefulness of the method is verified through simulations.

Progress in Smart Tourism 2010-2017: A Systematic Literature Review

  • Smart tourism technologies are becoming ever more pervasive and an increasing number of destinations and hospitality establishments are investing in smart tourism initiatives. However, while governments and businesses around the world are aggressively pushing the smart tourism agenda forward, smart tourism research initiatives are still in their infancy and seem to not fully cover the whole spectrum of smart tourism-related issues and questions. This paper conducts a systematic review of existing smart tourism literature to determine the status quo of smart tourism research and to identify research gaps. Considering the steep growth of smart tourism initiatives starting at the beginning of this decade, this paper reviews publications on smart tourism over the last 8 years. All publications for which the keyword "smart tourism" appears in the title, keywords or abstract were included in the sample.

Screening of Myxobacteria Carrying Tubulysin Biosynthetic Genes

  • Tubulysins are a group of secondary metabolites produced by myxobacteria that inhibit the function of the eukayotic cytoskeleton. We developed a pair of PCR primers that specifically amplified tubulysin biosynthetic genes. Using these primers, eight out of the eighty-one strains of myxobacteria belonging to the Cystobacteraceae family that harbored putative tubulysin biosynthetic genes were screened through PCR analysis. The selected strains included two Archangium gephyra, two Stigmatella sp., two Vitiosangium cumulatum, and two unidentified myxobacteria. LC-MS analysis of the culture extracts from the selected strains revealed that A. gephyra KYC4066 produced putative tubulysin A and B.

  • Quantification of sensitive material is of vital importance when it comes to the movement of nuclear fuel throughout its life cycle. Within the electrorefiner vessel of electrochemical separation facilities, the task of quantifying plutonium by neutron analysis is especially challenging due to it being in a constant mixture with curium. It is for this reason that current neutron multiplicity methods would prove ineffective as a safeguards measure. An alternative means of plutonium verification is investigated that utilizes the (𝛼,n) signature that comes as a result of the eutectic salt within the electrorefiner. This is done by utilizing the multiplicity variable a and breaking it down into its constituent components: spontaneous fission neutrons and (𝛼,n) yield. From there, the (𝛼,n) signature is related to the plutonium content of the fuel.

Numerical analysis for the punching shear resistance of SFRC flat slabs

  • In this article, the performance of steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) flat slabs was investigated numerically. The influence of flexural steel reinforcement, steel fiber content, concrete compressive strength, and slab thickness were discussed. The numerical model was developed using ATENA-Gid, user-friendly software for non-linear structural analysis for the evaluation and design of reinforced concrete elements. The numerical model was calibrated based on eight experimental tests selected from the literature to validate the actual behavior of steel fiber in the numerical analysis. Then, a parametric study of 144 specimens was generated and discussed the impact of various parameters on the punching shear strength, and statistical analysis was carried out. The results showed that slab thickness, steel fiber content, and concrete compressive strength positively affect the punching shear capacity. The fib Model Code 2010 for specimens without steel fibers and the model of Muttoni and Ruiz for SFRC specimens presented a good agreement with the results of this study.

  • We have investigated the effect of rubrene-doped CuPc hole transport layer on the performance of p-i-n type bulk hetero-junction photovoltaic device with a structure of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/CuPc: rubrene/CuPc:C60(blending ratio 1:1)/C60/BCP/Al and have evaluated the current density-voltage(J-V) characteristics, short-circuit current($J_{sc}$), open-circuit voltage($V_{oc}$), fill factor(FF), and energy conversion efficiency(${\eta}_e$) of the device. By rubrene doping into CuPc hole transport layer, absorption intensity in absorption spectra decreased. However, the performance of p-i-n organic type bulk hetero-junction photovoltaic device fabricated with crystalline rubrene-doped CuPc was improved since rubrene shows higher bandgap and hole mobility compared to CuPc. Increased injection currents have effected on the performance improvement of the present device with energy conversion efficiency(${\eta}_e$) of 1.41%, which is still lower value compared to silicone solar cell and many efforts should be made to improve organic photovoltaic devices.
