엔진 흡기계 공기 여과기의 음향 특성 (Acoustical Characteristics of Air Filter in the Engine Intake System)

  • The air filter in engine intake system filters the dirt in the breathing air but also it attenuates the noise although the phenomenon has been regarded negligible. For the analysis of the acoustical performance of air filter, an acoustical model is suggested in this paper. The air filter consists of a porous filter element, which catches the particulate dirt, and a plastic filter box, which supports the filter element. Fibrous structure of the filter element is modeled as a micro-perforated panel using the flow resistivity and porosity. The pleated geometry of the filter element is modeled as two coupled ducts and a mathematical model is developed for the analysis of sound propagation. The filter box Is modeled as a rigid rectangular box. By combining two models, a 4-pole transfer matrix for the air filter is derived. The transmission loss calculated using the transfer matrix of the suggested model is compared with the measured data. Reasonably good agreement is observed. The result can be improved by considering the visco-thermal effect in modeling, in particular at a frequency range near the troughs of TL curve.

초기 형상 불안정성 기반 성형한계선도의 이론적 변수에 따른 성형 한계영역 평가 (Evaluation of Analytical Parameters on Forming Limit Diagram based on Initial Geometrical Instability)

  • The current study examines the effect of the analytical parameter values on the theoretical forming limit diagram (FLD) based on the Marciniak-Kuczynski model (M-K model). Tensile tests were performed to obtain stress-strain curves and determine the anisotropic properties in the rolling, transverse and diagonal direction of SPCC sheet materials. The experimental forming limit curve for SPCC sheet material was obtained by limiting dome stretching tests. To predict the theoretical FLD based on the M-K model, the Hosford 79 yield function was employed. The effects of three analytical parameters - the exponent of the yield function, the initial imperfection parameter and the fracture criterion parameter - on the M-K model, were examined and the results of the theoretical FLD were compared to the experimentally measured FLD. It was found that the various analytical parameters should be carefully considered to reasonably predict the theoretical FLD. The comparison of the acceptable forming limit area between the theoretical and experimental FLD is used to compare the two diagrams.

  • Titanium alloy sheets have excellent specific strength and corrosion resistance as well as good performance at high temperature. Recently, titanium alloys are widely employed not only aerospace parts but also bio prothesis and motorcycle. But the database is insufficient of the titanium alloy for press forming process. In this study, the effect of temperature on the forming limit diagram was investigated for Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy sheet through the Hocker's punch stretching test at elevated temperature. Experimental results obtained in this study can provide a database for development of press forming process at elevated temperature of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy sheet. From the experimental studies it can be concluded that the formability of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy sheet is governed by the ductile failure for the testing temperature below and vice versa neck-induced failure above the recrystalization temperature $0.5T_m$. The formability of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy sheet at $750^{\circ}C$ increases about 7 times compared with that at room temperature.

18Cr-10Mn-0.44N2 고질소강의 열연공정개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Hot Rolling Process for 18Cr-10Mn-0.44N2)

  • The objective of this paper is to determine the effect of process parameters on the behavior of a 18Cr-10Mn-$0.44N_2$ nitrogen steel sample deformed by hot rolling. Compression tests were carried out at high temperatures to determine the flow stresses needed for a finite element(FE) analysis. The strain rate, ranging from 0.1 to $1.0s^{-1}$, significantly affected the flow stress at temperatures higher than $1,000^{\circ}C$. Non-isothermal rolling simulations and laboratory rolling tests were performed with plate specimens 14.5mm thick, 135mm wide and 226mm long. A rolling reduction of 15% per pass leading to a cumulative rolling reduction of 60% was determined as optimal. The extension ratio of 176.5% in the length direction was about 30.4 times greater than the extension ratio of 5.8% in the width direction. Isotropic properties for tensile strength, microstructure and grain size were measured after mock-up hot rolling tests. The results from the mockup tests were found to be in good agreement with those of the simulations.

파랑에너지 집적 및 연안해역 제어를 위한 해저구조물의 설계 (Design of a Submerged Coastal Structure for Concentration of Wave Energy and Control of a Coastal Area)

  • The effects of wave energy focusing by a submerged berm type of structure is examined. The fundamental idea is based on the phenomenon of refraction by a lens-shaped crescent structure which results in the focusing of wave energy on the center line of the structure. The shape of the submerged structure is a complex curve combining circular with elliptical elements. Based on the design procedure, a special configuration of structure(termed herein as a triple crescent structure) is introduced. Next, some hydraulic model tests are performed to confirm the wave focusing effect in laboratory. In addition, in order to interpret the wave focusing performance behind the structure, a numerical procedure by the hybrid element method is used on the basis of the conventional mild slope equation but modified and extended to allow for steeper bottom slopes and higher curvature. The modified refraction and diffraction provide additional mechanism for wave height amplification and the maximum amplification for triple crescent structure is presented. It also allows for the possibility of wave energy scattering with the change of the incident wave direction. Comparisons with previous theoretical results involving a submerged crescent shape structure are described.

Effect of Ethanol on the Protolytic Properties of the Vitamins B Group

  • 다중파장 분광광도법 적정을 사용하여 25 oC에서 0.1M NaNO3를 함유한 에탄올-물 이성분 혼합 용매 중에서 네 가지 수용성 비타민인 엽산(비타민 B9 또는 B10), 티아민(비타민 B1), 리보플라빈(비타민 B2) 및 피리독살(비타민 B6)의 양성자이전상수를 조사하였다. 인자분석모형으로 pH-흡광도 데이터를 적절한 질량균형방정식에 곡선맞추기 (curve fitting)하여 양성자이전 평형상수, 스펙트럼, 농도 도표와 성분 수를 계산하였다. DATAN 프로그램으로 산도상수를, SPECFIT 프로그램으로 표준편차와 부분상관계수를 계산하였다. Gran 도시에 바탕을 둔 4-파라미터 식, pH = α + SpcH + JH+[H+] + JOH-Kw/[H+]에 의거한 유리전극 보정과정을 사용하여 pH값을 농도 척도(pcH)로 읽었으며, 용매가 양성자이전상수에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다.

Criticality effect according to axial burnup profiles in PWR burnup credit analysis

  • The purpose of the critical evaluation of the spent fuel pool (SFP) is to verify that the maximum effective multiplication factor ($K_{eff}$) is less than the critical safety limit at 100% stored condition of the spent fuel with the maximum reactivity. At nuclear power plants, the storage standard of spent fuel, ie, the loading curve, is established to prevent criticality from being generated in SFP. Here, the loading curve refers to a graph showing the minimum discharged burnup versus the initial enrichment of spent fuel. Recently, US NRC proposed the new critical safety assessment guideline (DSS-ISG-2010-01, Revision 0) of PWR SFPs and most of utilities in US is following it. Of course, the licensed criterion of the maximum effective multiplication factor of SFP remains unchanged and it should be less than 0.95 from the 95% probability and the 95% confidence level. However, the new guideline is including the new evaluation methodologies like the application of the axial burnup profile, the validation of depletion and criticality code, and trend analysis. Among the new evaluation methodologies, the most important factor that affects $K_{eff}$ is the axial burnup profile of spent fuel. US NRC recommends to consider the axial burnup profiles presented in NUREG-6801 in criticality analysis. In this paper, criticality effect was evaluated considering three profiles, respectively: i) Axial burnup profiles presented in NUREG-6801. ii) Representative PWR axial burnup profile. iii) Uniform axial burnup profile. As the result, the case applying the axial burnup profiles presented in NUREG-6801 showed the highest $K_{eff}$ among three cases. Therefore, we need to introduce a new methodology because it can be issued if the axial burnup profiles presented in NUREG/CR-6801 are applied to the domestic nuclear power plants without any other consideration.

단결정 Nd3Se4의 자기감수율 (Magnetic Susceptibilities of the Single Crystal Nd3Se4)

  • [ $bcc-Th_3P_4$ ] 구조를 가지고 있는 단결정 $Nd_3Se_4$를 성장 시킨 후 $4{\sim}300\;K$ 사이의 온도 영역에서 자기감수율을 측정했다. 측정된 자기기감수율을 축퇴된 $Nd^{3+}$ 기저상태가 결정장의 영향을 받아 발생하는 에너지 갈라짐에 의한 이론적인 자기감수율값과 비교했다. 분석 결과 $Nd_3Se_4$ 결정체 안에 있는 $Nd^{3+}$ 이온의 경우에는 결정장에 의한 영향이 거의 없음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 $T_c$가 53 K인 $Nd_3Se_4$의 자발자기화의 온도에 따른 곡선이 J=9/2에 해당하는 Brillouin function과 일치함을 확인했다.

Numerical study on the structural response of energy-saving device of ice-class vessel due to impact of ice block

  • The present paper considers the contact between energy-saving device of ice-class vessel and ice block. The main objective of this study is to clarify the tendency of the ice impact force and the structural response as well as interaction effects of them. The contact analysis is performed by using LS-DYNA finite element code. The main collision scenario is based on Finnish-Swedish ice class rules and a stern duct model is used as an energy-saving device. For the contact force, two modelling approaches are adopted. One is dynamic indentation model of ice block based on the pressure-area curve. The other is numerical material modelling by LS-DYNA. The authors investigated the sensitivity of the structural response against the ice contact pressure, the interaction effect between structure and ice block, and the influence of eccentric collision. The results of these simulations are presented and discussed with respect to structural safety.

측면 기판 단자를 갖는 다결정 실리콘 박막 트랜지스터의 제작과 전기적 특성 분석 (Fabrication and electrical characteristic analysis of poly-Si TFT with lateral body)

  • Poly-Si TFT(Thin Film Transistor) is a electronic device that can be applied to the field of large area electronics such as AMLCD. We have fabricated the poly-Si TFT with lateral body terminal that is counter-doped body electrode and investigated the electrical characteristics of it. The lateral body terminal being short with s terminal, we have measured the transfer charac (Vg-ld) and the output characteristic (Vd-ld) fabricated devices. The measured result showe only that leakage current in OFF-state was re and Kink effect in ON-state was suppressed bu that in output characteristic curve the output Id was sustained constantly with the output v Vd in the saturation region.
