  • In this paper, we propose and observe the Adaptive Modulation system with optimal Turbo Coded V-BLAST(Vertical-Bell-lab Layered Space-Time) technique that is applied the extrinsic information from MAP Decoder in decoding Algorithm of V-BLAST: ordering and slicing. And comparing the proposed system with the Adaptive Modulation system using conventional Turbo Coded V-BLAST technique that is simply combined V-BLAST with Turbo Coding scheme, we observe how much throughput performance and SNR has been improved. In addition, we show that the proposed system using STD(Selection Transmit Diversity) scheme results in on improved result, By using simulation and comparing to conventional Turbo Coded V-BLAST technique with the Adaptive Modulation systems, the optimal Turbo Coded V-BLAST technique with the Adaptive Modulation systems has SNR gain over all SNR range and better throughput gain that is about 350Kbps in 11dB SNR range. Also, comparing with the conventional Turbo Coded V-BLAST technique using 2 transmit and 2 receive antennas, the proposed system with STD scheme show that the improvement of maximum throughput is about 1.77Mbps in the same SNR range and the SNR gain is about 5.88dB to satisfy 4Mbps throughput performance.

  • This paper is concerned with the numerical analysis of dynamic response of floating offshore wind turbine subject to underwater explosion using an effective non-reflecting technique. An infinite sea water domain was truncated into a finite domain, and the non-reflecting technique called the perfectly matched layer(PML) was applied to the boundary of truncated finite domain to absorb the inherent reflection of out-going impact wave at the boundary. The generalized transport equations that govern the inviscid compressible water flow was split into three PML equations by introducing the direction-wise absorption coefficients and state variables. The fluid-structure interaction problem that is composed of the wind turbine and the sea water flow was solved by the iterative coupled Eulerian FVM and Largangian FEM. And, the explosion-induced hydrodynamic pressure was calculated by JWL(Jones-Wilkins-Lee) equation of state. Through the numerical experiment, the hydrodynamic pressure and the structural dynamic response were investigated. It has been confirmed that the case using PML technique provides more reliable numerical results than the case without using PML technique.

  • Purpose: Adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction (ASIR) technique is a reconstruction method of CT image using statistical noise modeling which is known to reduce image noise and to preserve image quality despite reducing radiation dose. The aim of this study is to evaluate images using ASIR on bone SPECT/CT which is primarily performed in our hospital. Materials and Methods: We compared the images of applied ASIR (ASIR level: 20-80%) and none ASIR by changing the mA based on 120 kVp, 100 mA using Discovery NM/CT 670 (GE, U.S.A). First, we evaluated attenuation correction in SPECT image by changing the ASIR level using Anthropomorphic phantom. Second, we compared the contrast to noise ratio (CNR), image noise and spatial resolution in CT image using ACR phantom. Third, after selecting the ASIR level applicable patient using lower torso phantom, we examined 2 patients who followed up bone SPECT/CT and we performed blind test. Results: The degree of attenuation correction in SPECT image showed no significant difference between applied ASIR and none ASIR (P>0.05). When applied ASIR, the noise of CT image were reduced at least 17 up to 52% by changing the mA. The CNR of image with ASIR was maintained more than 0.8 at 40 mA (ASIR 60%) while those without ASIR showed 0.42 at standard 40 mA. In comparison of the high contrast object, we distinguished 12 line pairs/cm at 40 mA regardless of appling ASIR. Comparison of the patients image applied ASIR level 60% (40 mA) which found out by spine image of lower torso phantom showed no signigicant difference between applied ASIR and none ASIR in blind test. The CTDIvol and DLP for applied ASIR 60% showed decreased by 60%, 60% on average than using standard mA. Conclusion: The study show that the radiation dose in SPECT/CT using ASIR can be reduced despite degradation of SPECT and CT images. In addition, higher ASIR level could be possibly applied characteristics of SPECT/CT that region of interest is limited to bone.

  • In this paper, we propose a new clustered reconfigurable interconnect network (CRIN) BIST to improve the embedding probabilities of random-pattern-resistant-patterns. The proposed method uses a scan-cell reordering technique based on the signal probabilities of given test cubes and specific hardware blocks that increases the embedding probabilities of care bit clustered scan chain test cubes. We have developed a simulated annealing based algorithm that maximizes the embedding probabilities of scan chain test cubes to reorder scan cells, and an iterative algorithm for synthesizing the CRIN hardware. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed CRIN BIST technique achieves complete fault coverage with lower storage requirement and shorter testing time in comparison with the conventional methods.

  • Small unmanned platforms maneuvering underwater are the key naval future forces, utilized as the asymmetric power in war. As a method of detecting and identifying such platforms, we introduce a property estimation technique based on an iterative numerical analysis. The property estimation technique can estimate not only the position of a target but also its physical properties. Moreover, it will have a potential in detecting and classifying still target or multiple targets. In this study, we have conducted the property estimation of an small underwater target using the data acquired from the lake experiment. As a result, it shows that the properties of a small platform may be roughly estimated from the in site data even using one channel.

  • This paper presents a back-calculation technique leer the prediction of the behavior of earth wall inserted in multi-layered soil deposit. The soil properties are back-calculated from the measured displacement at each construction stage and the behavior of earth wall far the next construction stage is predicted using back-calculated soil properties. For multi-layered soil deposit, the back-calculation would be very difficult due to the increase in the number of variables. In this study, to solve this difficulty, the back-calculation was performed successively from the lowest layer to the upper layers. An efficient elasto-plastic beam-column analysis was used for forward analysis to minimize the computation time of iterative back-calculation procedure. The coefficients of subgrade reaction and lateral earth pressure necessary for the formation of p-y curve were selected as back calculation variables, and to minimize the effect of abnormal behavior of the wall which might be caused by any unexpected action during construction, the difference between measured displacement increment and computed displacement increment at each construction stages is used as the objective function of optimization. The constrained sequential linear programming was used for the optimization technique to found values of variables minimizing the objective function. The proposed method in this study was verified using numerically generated data and measured field data.

  • The interface design for most present query-base model of OPAC systems does not include the function to implement an iterative feedback process till the user arrives at satisfied search results through the interaction with the system. Also, the interface doesn't provide the help function for a user to select pertinent search terms. To formulate a query at the present OPAC system, a user should learn a set of syntax different from system to system. All of above mentioned things make an end-user feel difficult to utilize an OPAC system effectively. This experimental system is attempted to alleviate a few limitations of the present OPAC system by a n.0, pplying the direct-manipulation technique as well as the feedback principle. First, this system makes it unnecessary for a user to learn some syntax for query formulation by providing option buttons for access points. Second, this system makes it possible for a user to decide whether each displayed record is relevant or not, and for keywords included in the relevant records to be automatically stored in order to be used for later feedback. Third, in this system, the keywords stored in [sayongja yongeu bogyanham] can be deleted if unnecessary or can selected as search terms for a query expansion as well as a query modification. Fourth, in this system, after inputting the original query, the feedback process can be proceed without coming back to the previous search step until a user becomes satisfied with the search results. In conclusion, the searching behaviors of heterogeneous users should be continuously observed, analysed, and studied, the findings of which should be integrated into the design for the interface of the OPAC system.

  • The changes of electromagnetic wave velocity in rock were monitored to investigate rock behaviors due to the drill & blasting excavations through georadar tomography during the construction of the underground rock laboratory (5 m wide, 6 m high, and 140 m long) at Mabuk-Ri, Goosung-Myun, Yongin-Si, Kyunggi-Do. Two horizontal boreholes spaced 1.4 m apart were drilled parallel to the test tunnel before excavating it, high-resolution crosshole georadar tomography with about 500 MHz electromagnetic waves was performed at pre-excavation phase (May, 1996) and post-excavation phase (August, 1996). The data were acquired with the combination of 34 sources and 44 receivers with space of 0.3 m. Only 11 continuous receivers were selectively utilized with one fixed source. Sampling interval was 0.4 ns and each trace has 512 samples. The first arrival of each trace was picked manually with a picking software. The total number of rays used in inversion amounted to 34x11 and the size of pixel was determined to be 0.3 m. As an inversion technique, SIRT(Simultaneous Iterative Reconstruction Technique) was applied in this study. The velocity of electromagnetic waves at post-excavation phase decreased as large as 15% in comparison with that at pre-excavation phase, which may be attributed to the creation of micro-cracks in rock due to excavations and saturation with groundwater. Small amount of borehole deviation made a critical effect in radar tomography. Totally different tomograms were created after borehole deviation corrections.

  • There have been many efforts to find a new way to combine software reuse and agile software development methods. This paper studies the integration of software reuse techniques in agile methods, such as Scrum. Agile methods have the advantage of accepting frequent requirement changes, while software reuse reduces development time. Despite the rapid acceptance of the Scrum method in industry, not much emphasis has been placed on active reuse in the Scrum method, and most studies have focused on introducing agile practices into software product line engineering. However, the iterative development and backlog refinement activities of the Scrum method present the advantage of facilitating software reuse. In this paper, we identify sprint characteristics and components for reuse and suggest extended backlog refinement steps. Based on the results of this research, we integrate a backlog factoring technique into backlog refinement to support reuse in agile methods. In addition, we apply the proposed technique and demonstrate a prototype of product backlog reuse in backlog refinement for an Internet shopping mall application.

  • It is impractical to install sensors on every floor of a tall building to measure the full state vector because of the large number of degrees of freedom. This makes it necessary to introduce reduced order control. A kind of system reduction scheme (dynamic condensation method) is proposed in this paper. This method is iterative and Guyan condensation is looked upon as an initial approximation of the iteration. Since the reduced order system is updated repeatedly until a desired one is obtained, the accuracy of the reduced order system resulting from the proposed method is much higher than that obtained from the Guyan condensation method. An eigenvalue shilling technique is applied to accelerate the convergence of Iteration. Two schemes to establish the reduced order system by using the proposed method are also presented and discussed in this paper. The results for a tail building with active tuned mass damper show that the proposed method is efficient for the reduced order modelling and the accuracy is very close to exact only after two iterations.
