  • In the proton therapy using a gantry system, periodical verification of iso-center position is very important to assure precision of patient positioning system at any gantry angles in proton treatment. In the gantry system, there are three different types of iso-center; 1) in a geometrical view, 2) in an X-ray beam's eye view, 3) in a proton beam's eye view. Idealistically, they would be an identical point. They could, however, be different points. It may be a source of errors in patient positioning. At PMRC, we have established a system of verification for iso-center positions using a stainless ball of 2-cm in diameter and an imaging plate. This system provides the relation among a center of a patient target position, a center of proton irradiation field, and/or a center of X-ray field in accuracy of 50$\square$m in the 2) and 3) views, as images of a center of the stainless ball and a center of a 100 mm${\times}$100 mm-aperture brass collimator recorded on the imaging plate, which is setup at 1-cm behind the ball. In addition, it provides simultaneously the images of the ball and the collimator on an imaging intensifier (II), which is setup downstream of the proton or X-ray beam. We present a method of quality assurance (QA) for calibration of iso-center position in a rotation gantry system at PMRC and the performance of this system. A proton beam position on the 1$\^$st/ scatterer in the nozzle of the gantry affects less sensitive (reduced by a factor of 1/5) to the results of the iso-center position. The effect is systematically correctable. The effect of the nozzle (or the collimator) position is less than 0.5 mm at the maximum extraction (390 mm).

  • This study compared and analyzed the results of proficiency testing between testers based on the international standard ISO/IEC 17043 proficiency testing requirements using ISO/IEC 25023 software quality characteristics evaluation. Application of the test was submitted to the KASTO as a software test in the electric test field defined by KOLAS. Among ISO/IEC 25023, the evaluation items for proficiency testing between testers were selected as functional completeness and time behavior. The comparison test between testers was carried out on May 28, 2019 at the accredited LG Electronics SW Laboratory in Seoul and attended by KOLAS assessors. The test evaluation method was measured once per tester with functional completeness, and measurement was repeated 10 times per tester according to time behavior. As a result, in the case of functional completeness, all 12 test steps were passed, and the satisfaction was evaluated. Time behavior was repeated 10 times, and the mean was 9.45 ± 0.01 seconds for testers 1 and 3 and 9.52 ± 0.0 seconds for tester 2, but there was no statistically significant difference. In conclusion, the proficiency of the testers was equal, and the reliability of the test results of the test institute was confirmed.

  • The main objective of this study is to assess the compatibility between Korean ministry of environment (KME) standard and ISO (KS I ISO) standard for the determination of BTEX and TPH content in soil. We carried out comparison analysis for both methods using CRM and matrix spiked samples. In case of GC-MS analysis for BTEX, we got statistically (significance level: 0.05) the same results from KME standard (ES 07600.1) and ISO standard (KS I ISO 15009). However, it showed statistically (significance level: 0.05) different results when TPH was analyzed by KME standard (ES 07552.1) and ISO standard (KS I ISO 16703). To clarify the reason why both methods produced different results for TPH content, we also did some additional experiments in terms of differences in extraction, clean-up and target hydrocarbon range. Extraction with polar and non-polar compounds mixed solvent (acetone+n-heptane) of KS I ISO 16703 showed higher extraction efficiency than with only non polar solvent (dichloromethane) extraction of ES 07552.1 by about 9%. While column type clean-up of KS I ISO 16703 showed the reduction in TPH content between before and after clean-up, batch type of clean-up of ES 07552.1 did not show any changes in TPH content through clean-up process. The target hydrocarbon range of ES 07552.1 and KS I ISO 16703 is $C_8{\sim}C_{40}$ and $C_{10}{\sim}C_{40}$, respectively. From this point of view, kerosene and JP-8 contaminated soil showed higher RPD (relative producibility deviation) values between results by both method than that of lubricant or diesel contaminated soil. The higher content of hydrocarbon ($C_8{\sim}C_{10}$) in kerosene and JP-8 played an important role in increasing RPD values in addition to the effects caused by different solvents and clean-up method. Consequently, it was concluded that both methods (ES 07552.1 and KS I ISO 16703) were not compatible.

  • The present study was undertaken to evaluate the protective effect of ethanol (EtAS), ethyl acetate (EAAS) and aqueous (AQAS) extracts of Argyreia speciosa (AS) roots against Isoproterenol (ISO)-induced myocardial infarction in rats. The animals were exposed to isoproterenol (200 mg/kg. s.c) twice at an interval of 24 hrs. Cardioprotective effect was assessed by observing ECG parameters, serum marker enzymes and histopathology of the heart. Pretreatment of EAAS, and EtAS (200 mg/kg) resulted in a significant (P < 0.001) increase in P wave, QRS complex and R-R interval, whereas heart rate, QT interval and cardiac cycle were maintained near to normal values. EtAS and EAAS showed significant (P < 0.05; P < 0.001) reduction in all the tested diagnostic markers compared to ISO treated group. Histological studies on the structural changes of heart tissue supported the protective activity of AS. The result suggest that treatment of AS prior to ISO has a significant role in protecting the animals from ISO induced myocardial infarction.

  • We have investigated the highly flexible and transparent Si-doped $In_2O_3$(ISO)/Ag/ISO multilayer grown on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates using a roll-to-roll sputtering system. The electrical and optical properties of ISO/Ag/ISO multilayer electrodes depended on the insertion of a nano-size Ag layer. Due to the high conductivity of a nano-size Ag layer, the optimized ISO/Ag/ISO multilayer electrodes showed the lowest resistivity of $3.679{\times}10^{-5}Ohm-cm$, even though the ISO/Ag/ISO multilayer electrodes was sputtered at room temperature. Furthermore, the ISO/Ag/ISO multilayer electrodes exhibited a high transmittance of 86.33%, because of the anti-reflection effect, comparable to Sn-doped $In_2O_3$ (ITO) electrodes. In addition, the ISO/Ag/ISO multilayer electrodes had a very smooth surface morphology without surface defects and showed good flexibility. The flexible OSCs fabricated on ISO(30nm)/Ag(8nm)/ISO(30nm) multilayer electrode showed a power conversion efficiency of 3.272%. This result indicates that the ISO/Ag/ISO multilayer is a promising transparent conducting electrode for flexible OSCs.

  • Most of the automotive electronic systems are equipped with control software. ISO 26262 standard has been published to prevent unreasonable risk due to E/E system malfunction. And many automotive companies apply ISO 26262 for safe series product. In ISO 26262 standard, the product quality improves through deductive and inductive safety analysis in all processes including system and software development phase. However, there are few studies on software safety analysis than systems. In the paper, we study the software FMEA(Failure Mode Effect Analysis) technique for product quality of vehicular embedded software. And we propose an effective guideline of software FMEA as EPB industrial practice.
