An algorithm for identifying track irregularities along the railway is presented. A baseline frequency-domain transfer function based on the equivalent SlSO(Single Input Single Output) model is defined at the intact condition between the measured track geometry of the ground displacement and the acceleration measured at a location in a train. The pre-defined transfer function at the intact condition is used inversely to predict track geometry in time with the currently measured acceleration at the same location in a train. The predicted track geometry is compared in time with that of the baseline values at the intact condition. The difference between them is calculated as an error in time and used to identify the track irregularities. An irregularity index is proposed as the ratio between the moving variance of the error at the current inspection and that at the intact condition. A 3D numerical simulation study has been carried out with a train model to verify the validity of the presented algorithm. In the analysis for the simulation, the track geometry has been considered as the displacement boundary condition varying in time.
Recently, in the total railroad construction field, concrete slab tracks have been adapted in place of ballast tracks. Because ballast tracks need frequent maintenance and are difficult to handle due to increasing maintenance costs, eventually concrete slab tracks were selected as an alternative. However, owing to the hydration heat reactions and temperature-affected shrinkage of the concrete, a variety of studies to solve maintenance problems related to concrete slab tracks are underway. This study analyzed characteristics of TQI values evaluating track irregularity, investigated the relationship between crack progress and TQI, and then evaluated the correlation between the two values. Through our analysis, we found that there is a need to supplement the problems of the current method and develop a track evaluation index which takes cracking into account. We also concluded that TQI is the main decision-making tool in track maintenance.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the relationship between awareness of nutrition labeling and menstrual cycle irregularity in women from a nationally representative sample of the Korean population. Methods: A cross-sectional analysis was performed using hierarchical multi-variable logistic regression analysis models. A total of 4,324 women aged 19~54 years from the 2010~2012 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey participated in the study. The participants were classified into three groups based on self-report responses to a questionnaire about their awareness of nutrition labels: Reading, Not-Reading, and Not-Knowing Groups. Results: The Reading, Not-Reading, and Not-Knowing Groups comprised 46.4%, 44.9%, and 8.7% of the participants, respectively, and 53.6% of the participants had never used nutrition labels. In the Not-Knowing Group, irregular menstrual cycles for more than 3 months were significantly more common than women with irregular menstrual cycles for up to 3 months and women with regular menstrual cycles. Women in the Not-Knowing Group were more likely to exhibit menstrual cycle irregularity (adjusted odds ratio: 1.63, 95% confidence interval: 1.10~2.41) compared to women in the Reading Group after adjusting for age, body mass index, smoking status, alcohol intake, exercise regularity, stress, depression, suicidal ideation, metabolic syndrome, age at menarche, parity, and use of oral contraceptives. Conclusion: No awareness of nutrition labeling appears to be associated with a higher prevalence of menstrual cycle irregularity in a nationally representative group of Korean women.

Most previous research on the seismic response of structures with plan irregularities have focused on the relationship between the eccentricity and the amount of torsion. This approach cannot provide the direct relationship between the irregularity and the damage. Therefore, an investigation on the relationship between the eccentricities of buildings with plan irregularities and the damage index was performed. Inelastic dynamic time-history analyses were performed on one-story buildings with various eccentricities. For the damage assessment, a 3D damage index was adopted to reflect the effect of the bi-directional response and torsion. Based on the analysis results, buildings with eccentricities of 10%, 20% and 30% will suffer 3~5%, 13~18%, and 33~47% more damage than their regular counterparts, respectively.
In this study we have studied running stability, safety and passenger comfort of the Chinese first class passenger car made by our company and CCRW. A fine analysis model of 72 d.o.f. was constructed for simulating dynamic behavior of the car on straight and curved tracks having irregularity configurations. We have calculated the various characteristic values such as critical speed, lateral force, derailment ratio, wheel unloading ratio and passenger comfort index, then evaluated them by comparing with reference values.
In this paper, irregularly designed planar reinforced concrete wall structures are investigated computationally. For this purpose, structures consisting of four regular and irregular models of short-order (two-class) and intermediate (five-class) types have been investigated. The probabilistic evaluation of seismic damage of these structures has been performed by using the incremental inelastic dynamic analysis to produce the seismic fragility curve at different levels of damage. The fragility curves are based on two classes of maximum damage indices and the Jeong-Nansha three-dimensional damage index. It was found that there is a significant increase in damage probability in irregular structures compared to regular ones. The rate of increase was higher in moderate and extensive damage levels. Also, the amount of damage calculated using the two damage indices shows that the Jeong-Nensha three-dimensional damage index in these types of structures provides superior results.
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate changes of the alveolar bone and interdental bone septum of the mandibular incisors through cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) after orthodontic treatment of mandibular dental crowding without dental extraction. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of 64 CBCT images(32 pre-treatment and 32 post-treatment) from 32 adult patients with class I malocclusion and an average age of 23.0±3.9 years. The width and height of the alveolar bone and interdental septum, the distance between the cementoenamel junction (CEJ) and the facial and lingual bone crests, and the inclination of the mandibular incisors were measured. Results: The distance between the CEJ and the marginal bone crest on the facial side increased significantly (P<0.05). An increased distance between the CEJ and the bone crest on the facial and lingual sides showed a correlation with the irregularity index (P<0.05); however, no significant association was observed with increasing mandibular incisor inclination (P>0.05). The change in the distance between the CEJ and the marginal bone crest on the facial side was correlated significantly with bone septum height(P<0.05). Conclusion: Bone dehiscence developed during the treatment of crowding without extraction only on the incisors' facial side. Increasing proclination of the mandibular incisor was not correlated with bone dehiscence. The degree of dental crowding assessed through the irregularity index was associated with the risk of developing bone dehiscence. The interdental septum reflected facial marginal bone loss in the mandibular incisors.
This study is intended to investigate the demographic characteristics and socio-economic status of students, and to reveal the correlations between food habit and health condition by Todai health Index. The results of this study were summerized as followes: 1) the sex ratio of the subjects was 309 males: 129 females. Mean score of the food habit was 7,56 in males and 8.88 in females. The subjects were included in Fair and Poor group generally. Food habit score of students living their own home were significantly higher generally. Food habit score of students living their own home were significantly higher than those of the others (Lodging & Relatives, Self-Boarding, Dormitory, and so forth). 2) In males and females, mean of height and weight were 171.6cm, 62.1kg and 159.9cm, 50.9kg, respectively. Though there was insignificant difference in the physical index according to food habit score in general, there was a special trend in case of male that the higher food habit score they have, the higher physical index they get. The subjects with low food habit score showed the higher THI point in Life-irregularity, Straight-forwardness, depression and Sufferings than those with high food habit score. The female subjects with high food habit score showed the lower THI point in depression, on the contrary, showed higher in vanity. There was significant correlation between instant food, drinking and smoking and THI point.
Evaluating seismic performance of urban structures for future earthquakes is one of the key prerequisites of rehabilitation programs. Irregular structures, as a specific case, are more susceptible to sustain earthquake damage than regular structures. The study here is to identify damage states of vertically irregular structures using the well-recognized Park-Ang damage index. For doing this, a regular 3-story reinforced concrete (RC) structure is first designed based on ACI-318 code, and a peak ground acceleration (PGA) of 0.3 g. Some known vertical irregularities such as setback, short column and soft story are then applied to the regular structure. All the four structures are subjected to seven different earthquakes accelerations and different amplitudes which are then analyzed using nonlinear dynamic procedure. The damage indices of the structures are then accounted for using the pointed out damage index. The results show that the structure with soft story irregularity sustains more damage in all the earthquake records than the other structures. The least damage belongs the regular structure showing that different earthquake with different accelerations and amplitudes have no significant effect on the regular structures.
Retrostpective study of two groups of patients was conducted to evaluate the physiologic drift of the mandibular teeth following the extraction of four first premolars. The concept of physiologic drift, commonly referred to as 'driftodontics', following first premolar extractions has been gaining acceptance in the orthodontic community, the exact nature and amount of drift has not been adequately documented. There were also no guide lines as to when drift should be allowed to now. The purpose of this study was to quantify physiologic drift of the untreated mandibular dentition following extraction of the four first premolars during the early permanent and late permanent dentition stages. The early permanent dentition extraction sample(Group 1) included 26 Patients and the mean age at pretreatment was approximately 13.5 years. The observation period following extraction was approximately 6.96 months. The late permanent dentition extraction sample(Group 2) included 31 patients. The mean age at pretreatment was 21.3 years, followed by a observation period of 7.26 months. During the observation period, except for the extractions, no other mandibular therapy was rendered. Pre-and post-treatment lateral cephalograms and dental casts were analyzed. The obtained results were as follows 1. Group 2 showed marked changes in movements of the mandibular incisors and canines but minimal changes in molars. 2. The amount of changes in movements of the mandibular incisors and canines were significantly greater in Group 1 than in Group 2. The results showed no differences in rates of molar movements between groups. 3. Physiologic drift of the dentition produced desirable changes such as decreased Incisor Irregularity.
