Purpose: We investigate the results of changed heart volume and heart dose in the left breast cancer patients while considering the movements of respiration. Materials and Methods: During the months of March and May in 2012, we designated the 10 patients who had tangential irradiation with left breast cancer in the department of radiation Oncology. With acquired images of free breathing pattern through 3D and 4D CT, we had planed enough treatment filed for covered up the whole left breast. It compares the results of the exposed dose and the volume of heart by DVH (Dose Volume histogram). Although total dose was 50.4 Gy (1.8 Gy/28 fraction), reirradiated 9 Gy (1.8 Gy/5 Fraction) with PTV (Planning Target Volume) if necessary. Results: It compares the results of heart volume and heart dose with the free breathing in 3D CT and 4D CT. It represents the maximum difference volume of heart is 40.5%. In addition, it indicated the difference volume of maximum and minimum, average are 8.8% and 27.9%, 37.4% in total absorbed dose of heart. Conclusion: In case of tangential irradiation (opposite beam) in left breast cancer patients, it is necessary to consider the changed heart volume by the respiration of patient and the heartbeat of patient.
The purpose of this study is to measure the 3 dimensional dose distribution of Gamma knife $Perfection^{TM}$, make a comparative analysis of the result and establish the measurement method for the procedures using EBT3 film. The dose distributions of the Gamma knife $Perfection^{TM}$ installed in two hospitals were evaluated in accuracy and precision. For accuracy, the difference between the mechanical center axis and the dose center axis was assessed on a 4 mm collimator. The allowed difference in accuracy is within 0.3 mm and it was measured as 0.098 mm, 0.195 mm for A hospital and 0.229 mm, and 0.223 mm for B hospital. For precision the difference between the FWHM(Full Width at Half Maximum) of Gamma Plan and measurement in the 4, 8, and 16 mm collimators was calculated. The allowed difference in precision is less than ${\pm}1mm$. The value of the hospital A was -0.283 ~ 0.583 mm, and the hospital B was -0.857 ~ 0.810 mm. When analyzing the dose distributions using the image-j program, it is necessary to establish a clearer reference point of the measurement point, and it is considered that the comparison of the dose distribution should be performed in actual treatment irradiation dose with a high dose usable film.

Radiation therapy uses high energy, which can have side effects on the human body. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the appropriate dose is set for irradiation and to have confidence in the radiation produced by the generator. The EPR/Alanine dosimetry system is characterized by water equivalence, dose response linearity, and low fading, which makes it useful for quality control of radiation therapy equipment. In this study, we compared the signal and dose response curves of EPR/Alanine dosimetry by mass of alanine using 6 MV energy of a LINAC. An alanine dosimeter and EPR spectrometer from Burker, and a LINAC from Elekta, were used. A dose response curve and a 1st order regression equation were constructed from the irradiated dose and the EPR signal from the alanine dosimeter. We compared the signal magnitude and dose response curve with mass and checked the confidence through the measurement uncertainty of the dose response curve. As a result, it was found that the magnitude of the EPR signal increased by about 1.3 times at 64.5 mg, and the sensitivity of the dose response curve increased as the mass increased. The measurement uncertainty was evaluated to be between 5.84 % and 8.93 %. Through this study, it is expected that the EPR/alanine dosimetry system can be applied to the quality assurance and quality control of a LINAC.
Mitochondria-targeted vitamin E (MVE) is designed to accumulate within mitochondria and is applied to decrease mitochondrial oxidative damage. However, the protective effects of MVE in skin cells have not been identified. We investigated the protective effect of MVE against UVB in dermal fibroblasts and immortalized human keratinocyte cell line (HaCaT). In addition, we studied the wound-healing effect of MVE in animal models. We found that MVE increased the proliferation and survival of fibroblasts at low concentration (i.e., nM ranges). In addition, MVE increased collagen production and downregulated matrix metalloproteinase1. MVE also increased the proliferation and survival of HaCaT cells. UVB increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in fibroblasts and HaCaT cells, while MVE decreased ROS production at low concentration. In an animal experiment, MVE accelerated wound healing from laser-induced skin damage. These results collectively suggest that low dose MVE protects skin from UVB irradiation. Therefore, MVE can be developed as a cosmetic raw material.
The mechanism of interaction between low energy ions and biological organisms has been paid much attention recently. In order to clarify the microstructural response to low energy ion irradiation embryonic cells of Paeonia rockii L. implanted by $Fe^{1+}$ ions with the energy of 80KeV were investigated by Optical Microscopy (OM), Scanning electron Microscopy(SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM). At the dose of 1$\times$1015 ions/$\textrm{cm}^2$, apparent cellular damage was observed in the outer several layers of the radicle. The shape of the cells was obviously deformed from regular polygon to irregular. The cell walls became obscure. SEM micrographs showed that the surface of the radicle was etched severely. It was observed by TEM that nucleus of the implanted cell was elongated and tended to fracture. Nuclear envelope lost its integrity. The implanted $Fe^{1+}$ ions were detected by Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). These observations showed that low energy ions could damage to the plant organisms with the thickness of about 30~50$\mu\textrm{m}$. The possible reasons for radiation damage in the biological organisms were discussed.

This paper describes the degraded properties of between the charge and discharge current for ${\gamma}$-ray irradiated in electric power cable rubbers using in nuclear power generating station. The charge and discharge current of degradation in EPR(Ethylene Propylene Rubber), which were irradiated with the radiant capacity of 0.033 Mrad/h, have been measured in order to investigate the influence of the atmosphere(in amount of reinforcing agent, moisture absorption and heat treatment) on electrical properties. When ${\gamma}$-ray were irradiated on the EPR with more reinforcing agent from 4 to 40 Phr, charge and discharge currents was increase due to the amount of reinforcing agent. It was verified that the discharging and charging currents irradiated by ${\gamma}$-ray were higher than those that was not irradiated. The amount of the degraded current was more after moisture absorption than before moisture absorption. The charge and discharge current after heat treatment was similar to that of before heat treatment and it was decreased with the time elapsed. As these properties related with ${\gamma}$-ray irradiation dose, it is suggested that these properties can be utilized as a index of irradiation degradation.

We studied the hydrogen-bonded $TlH_2PO_4$ (TDP) ferroelectrics treated with the proton-beam bombardment. The TDP material was irradiated with 1-MeV proton beam at a dose of $10^{15}/cm^2$. In order to analyze the hydrogen environment in TDP, we carried out the $^1H$ high resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) - i.e., Combined Rotation And Multiple Pulse Spectroscopy (CRAMPS) measurement. The isotropic chemical shift of hydrogen indicates its displacive property is related to the $PO_4$ lattice deformation which occurs throughout the antiferroelectric-, the ferroelastic- and the paraelastic-phase transitions. The temperature dependence of $\sigma_{iso}$ reveals the electronic charge redistribution is induced by the proton-beam irradiation and the elastic property.
The effects of low dosage ${\gamma}$-radiation on the cell growth and the formation of shikonin derivatives were investigated in callus cultures of Lithospermum erythrorhizon under different medium and light conditions. Gamma radiation significantly affected the cell growed and formation of shikonin derivatives, depending on the culture conditions. In the cell cultures grown on M-9 medium, 2Gy and 16Gy of ${\gamma}$-radiation increased the calli growth and the formation of shikonin derivatives, respectively under 16hr day light condition. When calli were cultured for 60 days in the dark after irradiation of ${\gamma}$-radiation, cell growth was increased at low dosage of 1Gy and 2Gy in LS medium containing BA 2mg/L and IAA 0.2mg/L. Interestingly, calli grown in M-9 medium by 2Gy irradiation for 60 days significantly stimulated the formation of shikonin derivatives(13.21mg/g cell fresh wt), which was approximately 6 times higher than untreated cells.
To evaluate the influence of prior heat treatment on the thermal enhancement of irradiation effect after hyperthermia, an experimental study was carried out using a total of 80 mice. Hyperthermia was carried out at $43^{\circ}C$ for 40 minutes and was repeated with various intervals. A single dose of 3,000 rad was delivered on skin of mouse tail immediately after the second hyperthermia. The skin changes of the irradiated mouse tail were observed from 7th to 35th post-irradiation days, and the skin scores were analyzed. The results are as follows, 1. The radiation damage on mouse skin increased significantly when radiation was combined with hyperthermia. 2. The radiation damage after repeated hyperthermia is significantly less than that after single hyperthermia, when the interval is 1 to 6 days. 3. As a result, thermal tolerance persists from 1 through 6 days after the initial hyperthermia.
