  • Due to the development of ICT technology, the IoT environment for connecting objects in the vicinity to networks and utilizing information about objects in various fields is getting attention, and security threats are also increasing. In order to solve the increasing security problem in IoT environment, we are studying methods that use certificate, encryption, hash calculation and block chain in the private sector. However, the security authentication method which overcomes the performance gap between devices and has compatibility with various devices It has not been proposed yet. In this paper, we propose an authentication method that can achieve wide compatibility by minimizing the influence of IoT device environment.

  • Internet of Things (IoT) is proliferating to provide more intelligent services by interconnecting various Internet devices, and TCP based MQTT is being used as a standard communication protocol of the IoT. Although it is recommended to use TLS/SSL security protocol for TCP with MQTT-based IoT devices, encryption and decryption performance degenerates when applied to low-specification / low-capacity IoT devices. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end message security protocol using elliptic curve cryptosystem, a lightweight encryption algorithm, which improves performance on both sides of the client and server, based on the simulation of TLS/SSL and the proposed protocol.

  • The Internet of Things(IoT) paradigm is flourishing strenuously for the last two decades. Researchers around the globe have their dreams to transmute every real-world object to the virtual object. Consequently, IoT devices are escalating exponentially. The abrupt evolution of these IoT devices has caused a major challenge i.e. object classification. In order to classify devices comprehensively and accurately, this paper proposes a context-aware based multi-classification model for devices, which classifies the smart devices according to people's contexts. However, the classification features of contextual data of different contexts are difficult to extract. The deep learning algorithm has the capability to solve this problem. This paper proposes a context-aware based multi-classification model of devices, which classifies the smart devices according to people's contexts.

  • Open IoT platform that shares communication infrastructure and provides cloud resources can flexibly reduce development period and cost of smart service. In this paper, as an open IoT platform, we propose a virtual IoT system based on edge computing that implements a virtual IoT device for a physical IoT device and allows service developers to interact with the virtual device. A management server in the edge cloud, near the IoT physical device, manages the creation, movement, and removal of virtual IoT devices corresponding to the physical IoT devices. This paper define the operations of the management server, the physical IoT device, and the virtual IoT device, which are major components of the virtual IoT system, and design the communication protocol required to perform the operations. Finally, through simulations, this paper evaluate the performance of the edge computing based virtual IoT system by confirming that each component performs the defined states and operations as designed.

  • As the environment using intelligent IoT devices increases, various studies are underway to ensure the integrity of information sent and received from intelligent IoT devices. However, all IoT information generated in heterogeneous environments is not fully provided with reliable protocols and services. In this paper, we propose an intelligent-based multi-blockchain model that can extract only critical information among various information processed by intelligent IoT devices. In the proposed model, blockchain is used to ensure the integrity of IoT information sent and received from IoT devices. The proposed model uses the correlation index of the collected information to trust a large number of IoT information to extract only the information with a high correlation index and bind it with blockchain. This is because the collected information can be extended to the n-tier structure as well as guaranteed reliability. Furthermore, since the proposed model can give weight information to the collection information based on blockchain, similar information can be selected (or bound) according to priority. The proposed model is able to extend the collection information to the n-layer structure while maintaining the data processing cost processed in real time regardless of the number of IoT devices.

  • Various devices, which are powerful computer and low-performance sensors, is connected to IoT network. Accordingly, applying mutual authentication for devices and data encryption method are essential since illegal attacks are existing on the network. But cryptographic methods such as symmetric key and public key algorithms, hash function are not appropriate to low-performance devices. Therefore, this paper proposes blockchain-based lightweight IoT mutual authentication protocol for the low-performance devices.

  • In the Internet of Things (IoT), resource-limited smart devices communicate with each other while performing sensing and computation tasks. Thus, these devices can be exposed to various attacks being launched and spread through network. For instance, attacker can reuse the codes of IoT devices for malicious activity executions. In the sense that attacker can craft malicious codes by skillfully reusing codes stored in IoT devices, code-reuse attacks are generally considered to be dangerous. Although a variety of schemes have been proposed to defend against code-reuse attacks, code randomization is regarded as a representative defense technique against code-reuse attacks. Indeed, many research have been done on code randomization technique, however, there are little work on analysis of the interactions between code randomization defenses and code-reuse attacks although it is imperative problem to be explored. To provide the better understanding of these interactions in IoT, we analyze how code randomization defends against code-reuse attacks in IoT and perform simulation on it. Both analysis and simulation results show that the more frequently code randomizations occur, the less frequently code-reuse attacks succeed.

  • To use IoT Technology, it needs a platform to connect each devices. With this reason, Many corporations and organizations are trying to develop their own Platform. Among many platforms we select AllJoyn, IoT open source platform developed by Allseen Alliance which is association led by Qualcomm. Using AllJoyn, we transform data gathered from many communication techniques like WiFi, Zigbee and Bluetooth into AllJoyn platform format and deliver it to other AllJoyn devices. Ultimately, we realize gateway system which enables non-AllJoyn devices to communicate with AllJoyn devices.

  • This paper presents a lightweight true random number generator (TRNG) using beta radiation that is useful for Internet of Things (IoT) security. In general, a random number generator (RNG) is required for all secure communication devices because random numbers are needed to generate encryption keys. Most RNGs are computer algorithms and use physical noise as their seed. However, it is difficult to obtain physical noise in small IoT devices. Since IoT security functions are required in almost all countries, IoT devices must be equipped with security algorithms that can pass the cryptographic module validation programs of each country. In this regard, it is very cumbersome to embed security algorithms, random number generation algorithms, and even physical noise sources in small IoT devices. Therefore, this paper introduces a lightweight TRNG comprising a thin-film beta-radiation source and integrated circuits (ICs). Although the ICs are currently being designed, the IC design was functionally verified at the board level. Our random numbers are output from a verification board and tested according to National Institute of Standards and Technology standards.

  • Today's Internet of Things (IoT) has had a dramatic increase in the use of various daily aspects. As a consequence, many homes adopt IoT technology to move towards the smart home. So, the home can be called smart when it has a range of smart devices that are united into one network, such as cameras, sensors, etc. While IoT smart home devices bring numerous benefits to human life, there are many security concerns associated with these devices. These security concerns, such as user privacy, can result in an insecure application. In this research, we focused on analyzing the vulnerabilities of IoT smart home cameras. This will be done by designing a new model that follows the STRIDE approach to identify these threats in order to afford an efficient and secure IoT device. Then, apply a number of test cases on a smart home camera in order to verify the usage of the proposed model. Lastly, we present a scheme for mitigation techniques to prevent any vulnerabilities that might occur in IoT devices.
