Ontology Based-Security Issues for Internet of Thing (IoT): Ontology Development

  • The use of sensors and actuators as a form of controlling cyber-physical systems in resource networks has been integrated and referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT). However, the connectivity of many stand-alone IoT systems through the Internet introduces numerous security challenges as sensitive information is prone to be exposed to malicious users. In this paper, IoT based-security issues ontology is proposed to collect, examine, analyze, prepare, acquire and preserve evidence of IoT security issues challenges. Ontology development has consists three main steps, 1) domain, purpose and scope setting, 2) important terms acquisition, classes and class hierarchy conceptualization and 3) instances creation. Ontology congruent to this paper is method that will help to better understanding and defining terms of IoT based-security issue ontology. Our proposed IoT based-security issue ontology resulting from the protégé has a total of 44 classes and 43 subclasses.

  • Internet of Things (IoT) is now spreading everywhere. It's the technology of every person's need so we can't step back from IoT but we can secure it as it is spreading quickly so it has greater chances of danger and being misused. There is an urgent need to make IoT devices secure from getting cracked or hacked. A lot of methods had tried and still trying to mitigate IoT security issues. In this paper Blockchain is going to be the solution of most of the IoT issues or problems. We have discussed or highlighted security issues with centralized IoT and then provided solution of such security challenges through the use of blockchain because is based on a decentralized technology that is hard to modify or update.

  • Fog computing is another paradigm of the cloud computing, which extends the ubiquitous services to applications on many connected devices in the IoT (Internet of Things). In general, if we access a lot of IoT devices with existing cloud, we waste a huge amount of bandwidth and work efficiency becomes low. So we apply the paradigm called fog between IoT devices and cloud. The network architecture based on cloud and fog computing discloses the security and privacy issues according to mixed paradigm. There are so many security issues in many aspects. Moreover many IoT devices are connected at fog and they generate much data, therefore light and efficient security mechanism is needed. For example, with inappropriate encryption or authentication algorithm, it causes a huge bandwidth loss. In this paper, we consider issues related with data encryption and authentication mechanism in the network architecture for cloud and fog-based M2M (Machine to Machine) IoT services. This includes trusted encryption and authentication algorithm, and key generation method. The contribution of this paper is to provide efficient security mechanisms for the proposed service architecture. We implemented the envisaged conceptual security check mechanisms and verified their performance.

  • High-tech industries in a state well enough to troubleshoot hacking information introduction a big barrier to delay the growth of the market related to IoT(Internet of Things) as is likely to be on the rise. This early on, security issues introduced in the solution, a comprehensive solution, including the institutional laws/precautions needed. Recent examples of frequent security threats while IoT is the biggest issue of introducing state-of-the-art industry information due to the vulnerable security hacking. This high-tech industries in order to bridge the information responsible for the target attribute, target range, and the protection of security and how to protect the subject, IoT environment (domestic industrial environment) considering the approach is needed. IoTs with health care and a wide variety of services, such as wearable devices emerge. This ensures that RFID/USN-based P2P/P2M/M2M connection is the implementation of the community. In this study, the issue on the high-tech industrial information and the vulnerable security issues of IoT are described.

  • Recently, Cyber Physical System (CPS) is one of the core technologies for realizing Internet of Things (IoT). The CPS is a new paradigm that seeks to converge the physical and cyber worlds in which we live. However, the CPS suffers from certain CPS issues that could directly threaten our lives, while the CPS environment, including its various layers, is related to on-the-spot threats, making it necessary to study CPS security. Therefore, a survey-based in-depth understanding of the vulnerabilities, threats, and attacks is required of CPS security and privacy for IoT. In this paper, we analyze security issues, threats, and solutions for IoT-CPS, and evaluate the existing researches. The CPS raises a number challenges through current security markets and security issues. The study also addresses the CPS vulnerabilities and attacks and derives challenges. Finally, we recommend solutions for each system of CPS security threats, and discuss ways of resolving potential future issues.

  • With the development of sensor, wireless mobile communication, embedded system and cloud computing, the technologies of Internet of Things have been widely used in real word. Connecting wireless sensor networks with traditional communication networks or Internet, IoT gateway plays an important role in IoT applications. It facilitates the integration of wireless sensor networks and mobile communication networks or Internet. The IoT gateway is a key component in IoT application systems. An Analysis of Research Trends in IoT Security (IoT 보안에 대한 국내외 연구 동향 분석)

  • IoT technology is currently being applied at various industrial sites and is developing as a core technology in the fourth industrial revolution. Along with IoT developments, awareness and importance of IoT security is increasing, and research on IoT security is underway to counter these threats. However, research trends in the context of IoT security awareness are insufficient. This paper is a research that analyzes the progress of R&D and IoT security in both domestic and international IoT and thus leads to improvements. The research covered the 229 papers and articles of domestic and foreign journals covering security fields as a main theme. Among them, detailed analyses of 96 papers related to IoT security were performed. Research has shown that many studies are being conducted on trends in IoT security, key management and privacy. A detailed study on the characteristics of services to apply IoT technologies and access control and authentication between IoT devices is needed, and a study that addressed the issues of privacy in IoT environments in Korea.

  • Since the start of the 4th industrial revolution, technologies have been developed in the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and 5G. Compared to other technologies IoT is currently being commercialized more than other technologies where the numbers of connected things are increases every year. The IoT has a huge advantage to provide convenience and lots of information to users, but security cannot keep up with the speed of development. IoT services continue to provide services for related devices, but at present, more and more types of new services are being combined with other technologies by utilizing the services of devices. This paper reviews and analyzes research on security issues and services related to the Internet of Things to explore how security trends and service delivery will develop in the future.

  • As IoT is broadly used in many fields, the security of IoT is becoming especially important and critical issues. Security and privacy are the key issues for IoT applications, and still faced with some enormous challenges. Sensor has limited resources such as computing power, memory, battery. By means of deeply analyzing the security architecture and features in security framework. While a number of researchers have explored such security challenges and open problems in IoT, there is an unfortunate lack of a systematic study of the security challenges in the IoT landscape. This special issue features recent and emerging advances IoT architecture, protocols, services and applications. The alternative method is IoT security gateway. In this paper, we surveyed the demands and requirements. By means of deeply analyzing the security architecture and features, we analyzed the demands and requirements for security based on gateway application.

  • With the recent advances in communication technology and Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure, home automation systems have emerged as a new paradigm for providing users with convenient smart home services. The IoT ecosystem has merged digital systems with the physical world, dramatically changing the way people live and work. However, at the same time, security remains one of the most significant research issues in IoT, as the deployment and application of high-availability systems come with various security risks that cause serious threats to users. Among them, the security issues arising from the interaction among devices/applications should not be underestimated. Attackers can exploit interactions among devices/applications to hack into the user's home. In this paper, we present a survey of research on detecting various types of interactions among devices/applications in IoT.
