  • Today, the Internet of Things is used in many places, including homes, industrial sites, and hospitals, to give us convenience. Many services generate new value through real-time data collection, storage and analysis as devices are connected to the network. Many of these fields are creating services and applications that utilize sensors and communication functions within IoT devices. However, since everything can be hacked, it causes a huge privacy threat to users who provide data. For example, a variety of sensitive information, such as personal information, lifestyle patters and the existence of diseases, will be leaked if data generated by smarwatches are abused. Development of IoT must be accompanied by the development of security. Recently, Differential Privacy(DP) was adopted to privacy-preserving data processing. So we propose the method that can aggregate health data safely on smartwatch platform, based on DP.

  • The emerging smart world based on IoT requires deployment of a large number of diverse sensors to generate data pertaining to different applications. Recent years have witnessed a plethora of IoT solutions beneficial to various application domains, IoT techniques also help boost agricultural productivity by increasing crop yields and reducing losses. This paper presents a predictive IoT smart farm platform for forcast services. We built an online agricultural forecasting service that collects microclimate data from weather stations in real-time. To demonstrate effectiveness of our proposed system, we designed a frost and pest forecasting modes on the microclimate data collected from weather stations, notifies the possibilities of frost, and sends pest forecast messages to farmers using push services so that they can protect crops against damages. It is expected to provide effectively that more precise climate forecasts thus could potentially precision agricultural services to reduce crop damages and unnecessary costs, such as the use of non-essential pesticides.

  • Existing IoT sensor nodes operate by receiving energy from a battery. But due to the characteristics of sensor nodes that are widely distributed for collecting various information, there is a disadvantage that the battery needs to be periodically replaced. In order to overcome this disadvantage, energy can be harvested from sunlight or high-temperature steam through an energy harvesting system. However, since the harvested power is quite limited, it is difficult to use applications that require instantaneous high power such as communication. We propose the design of the high-power energy harvesting system where a switch control unit compensates for the limited harvested energy with the energy storage device such as a capacitor. To verify the proposed system, an energy harvesting system based on sunlight was implemented, and we confirmed the maximum supply power to the application and the maximum supply time according to capacity of the energy storage device.

  • In this paper, we present a proposed monitoring system for smart factories with several aspects, including information gathering, analysis, control, and display that relate to concurrently operation processes in the factory area. This paper proposes a monitoring and management system for industrial automation. In particular, it uses an Internet of Thing (IoT) device with a data protocol unit to convert the industrial protocols and transfer the information on various parameters. In the case of data communication, the proposed monitoring system is designed to support users to remotely manage with the cloud server by implementing conversion between Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP of protocol communications. The proposed communication technique has been verified by experiments.

  • Recently in the area of ICT, the M2M and IoT are in the spotlight as a cutting edge technology with the help of advancement of internet. Among those fields, the smart home is the closest area to our daily lives. Smart home has the purpose to lead a user more convenient living in the house with WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) or other short-range communication environments using automated appliances. With an arrival of the age of IoT, this can be described as one axis of a variety of applications as for the M2H (Machine to Home) field in M2M. In this paper, we propose a novel technique for estimating the location of a terminal that freely move within a specified area using the RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) in the WLAN environment. In order to perform the location estimation, the Fingerprint and KNN methods are utilized and the LMS with the gradient descent method and the proposed algorithm are also used through the error correction functions for locating the real-time position of a moving user who is keeping a smart terminal. From the estimated location, the nearest fixed devices which are general electric appliances were supposed to work appropriately for self-operating of virtual smart home. Through the experiments, connection and operation success rate, and the performance results are analyzed, presenting the verification results.

  • In this paper, we propose a fuse controller which is used for storing the optimal value or the correction value for the surrounding product of the IoT applications and it is implemented serial communication circuit using a single pin. Because of the proposed single pin protocol is simpler in the hardware than the conventional $I^2C$ and SPI using two or more pins, it is suitable for the area of small amount of data transmission. The function of the one pin protocol is verified by logic simulation and the FPGA test board and it is fabricated using CMOS 0.35um technology. It is expected to use the IoT product that require the low power consumption and simple hardware.

  • There are increasing interests on smart home systems. However, most of the existing works focus on the functionality itself. In this paper, we propose an extensible smart home system based on low power networking such as CoAP, 6LoWPAN, and Zigbee. The proposed home IoT system consists of Home APP, Home Server, Home Broker, and Power Devices. Each component of the system is connected by the low-power network technologies aforementioned. As the end device, Power Device senses the current consumption of the attached appliance and controls the power to it. Power Device reports the sensing data to Home Server via Home Broker. The Home Broker enhances the scalability of the system. Home Broker extends the service area and the user's services, and it manages the connection of the underlying devices and processes, and transmits data to Home Server from Power Devices. Through the experimental evaluation, we show that the proposed system achieves the design goals such as extensibility and low power networking.
