  • Recently, the insulation breakdown accident has been experienced at 6.6kV inverter driving motor. That brought about the reliability degradation of motor driving system.. We need to find the solution with system engineering level. The objectives of this study are developing the appropriate filter for the drive to protect the motor and the Insulation system of motor which Is driven by inverter. We clarify the cause of the deterioration of the inverter driving motor through the analysis of Insulation breakdown accidents.

  • This paper presents analyses and performance evaluations of a PWM inverter for a permanent magnet synchronous motor drive under open fault conditions caused by the open fault in one switching device or isolation between the inverter and motor terminal. A fault model for a PWM inverter is derived and experiment is carried out by using DSP TMS320F28335 to provide the basis of fault diagnosis for such a case.

  • A circuit-domain model of PWM inverter provides accurate simulation results in consideration of detail switching characteristics. Although, a huge amount of computation time is demanded for the simulation results of several ten seconds, which is the required time to analyze system behaviors or control performances of Electric Power Steering(EPS) on real drive condition. This paper describes the nonlinear inverter model for fast dynamic simulation of EPS without the PWM concept through analyzing the effect of nonlinear switching characteristics like dead time, forward voltage drop and conduction resistance. Some inverter models including proposed model are compared from two standpoints which are computation time and accuracy. The comparison results show the usefulness of the developed model in order to develop the control algorithm through the fast prediction of system behaviors.

  • A novel single-phase induction machine drive containing full bridge inverter is presented. The drive is intended for conveyor system or a similar type of application requiring variable-speed operation with a fan-type load characteristic. An experimental drive based on the proposed setup has been built to verify its practical viability. The paper presents the results obtained from an investigation and discusses the properties and characteristics of the drive for the entire speed range from 0 to 60Hz.

  • This paper presents a solution that an analytical model for an induction motor and the formula of regenerative power and instantaneous torque are derived. based on the spiral vector. The torque is controlled linearly through variations of the slip angular velocity, based on the field acceleration method (FAM). And also PWM inverter fed induction motor drives is schemed to be easily a regenerative drive. The voltage source inverter fed induction motor drives that regenerative power occurs with back current type is presented, to easily controlled the feedback power and to proper the adaption of energy shaving drives. The experimental tests verify the performance of the FAM, proving that food behavior of the drive is achieved in the transient and steady state operating condition, and are discussed to save the power that regenerative power is measured at the operating acceleration or deceleration of servo system.

  • For the high speed drive of induction machine, Thyristor inverter utilizing line and device commutation is proposed. By investigating the load commutation conditions, the possible area of commutation is clearly shown. And from the above results, starting method under the constant slip frequency, is suggested.

  • Energy recovery in the regenerative region is very important when SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) is used in traction drive. This is because that to reduce energy loss during mechanical braking and/or to have a high efficiency drive during braking. To control excitation voltage in motor operation and regenerative voltage in the generator operation in the SRM, multi-level voltage control is effective. This paper suggests multi-level inverter which is useful for motoring and regenerative operation in SRM.
