철도차량 추진시스템을 위한 FLI(Five-leg Inverter)의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of a Five-leg Inverter for the Train Propulsion System)

  • 본 논문에서는 철도차량 추진시스템을 위한 3-레그 인버터와 5-레그 인버터의 성능을 비교/분석하고 철도차량에 5-레그 인버터를 적용함에 있어 최적의 동작 조건을 제시한다. 5-레그 인버터는 두 대의 3-레그 인버터에 비해 2개의 스위치가 감소되며, 하나의 제어보드로 두 대의 3상 전동기를 독립적으로 제어할 수 있다. 이로 인해 두 대의 3-레그 인버터를 이용할 경우보다 시스템의 비용 감소와 소형화가 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 도시철도 차량에서 사용중인 유도전동기 제어 기법과 PWM 방법을 분석한다. 다음으로 5-레그 인버터의 기본 동작과 특징을 분석한다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로 동일한 유도전동기 제어 기법과 PWM 방법을 3-레그 인버터와 5-레그 인버터에 적용했을 때 유도전동기의 속도와 토크 특성을 비교하고 분석한다.

Torque Ripple Minimization for Induction Motor Driven by a Photovoltaic Inverter

  • The paper presents a new photovoltaic inverter for stand-alone induction motor application. The proposed system is composed of two stages. First stage is for the photovoltaic dc power feeding and second stage is dedicated to the motor-inverter subsystem and control technique. A direct torque control (DTC) with a novel switching strategy for motor torque ripple minimization is introduced. The novel DTC strategy is based on selecting a suitable voltage vector group for motor torque ripple minimization. A three-level voltage source inverter (VSI) is used instead of a two level inverter because the first has more available vectors and lower ripples in the output current and flux than the second, thus it has lower torque ripples. The photovoltaic array and battery bank are sized and the configuration is indicated based on sun-hour methodology. Simulation results show a comparison between three systems; two level VSI with conventional DTC strategy, three level VSI with conventional DTC, and the proposed system that has a novel DTC switching strategy applied to three level VSI. The results show that the proposed system has lower ripples in the current, flux and torque of the motor.

PWAM 방식을 이용한 공조시스템용 인버터의 THD 저감 방법 (PWAM Based THD Reduction of Inverter for Air-Conditioning Blower)

  • The HVAC(Heating Ventilation and Air conditioning) system is controlled by two ways, one is ON/OFF control and the other is PWM inverter with V/F. Control of blower with the use of PWM inverter has quite some benefits such as the capability of changing speed, high efficiency and reduced noise level compared with ON/OFF control. But if blower is operated at low speed, high THD generated by decrease of ma, and output voltage lowered in proportion to frequency. To solve these problems, filter should be installed at the output stage of inverter, which can decrease THD but has problems such as increase of volume size and additional braking resistance. This paper proposes the PWAM method which can reduce THD instead of installing the filter at the output stage of inverter. The proposed PWAM method is an inverter modulation method that fixes the modulation index of inverter to reduce THD by varying DC link voltage of inverter unlike conventional PWM method. Finally, the validity of proposed PWAM methods verified by experiments.

Stability Enhancement of Four-in-Wheel Motor-Driven Electric Vehicles Using an Electric Differential System

  • This paper presents a new multi-machine robust control based on an electric differential system for electric vehicle (EV) applications which is composed of four in-wheel permanent magnet synchronous motors. It is based on a new master-slave direct torque control (DTC) algorithm, which is used for the control of bi-machine traction systems based on a speed model reference adaptive system observer. The use of an electric differential in the design of a new EV constitutes a technological breakthrough. A classical system with a multi-inverter and a multi-machine comprises a three-phase inverter for each machine to be controlled. Another approach consists of only one three-phase inverter for several permanent magnet synchronous machines. The control of multi-machine single-inverter systems is the subject of this study. Several methods have been proposed for the control of multi-machine single-inverter systems. In this study, a new master-slave based DTC strategy is developed to generate an electric differential system. The entire system is simulated by Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the new multi-machine robust control based on an electric differential system for use in EV applications.

Peak-Valley Current Mode Controlled H-Bridge Inverter with Digital Slope Compensation for Cycle-by-Cycle Current Regulation

  • In this paper, digital peak current mode control for single phase H-bridge inverters is developed and implemented. The digital peak current mode control is achieved by directly controlling the PWM signals by cycle-by-cycle current limitation. Unlike the DC-DC converter where the output voltage always remains in the positive region, the output of DC-AC inverter flips from positive to negative region continuously. Therefore, when the inverter operates in negative region, the control should be changed to valley current mode control. Thus, a novel control logic circuit is required for the function and need to be analyzed for the hardware to track the sinusoidal reference in both regions. The problem of sub-harmonic instability which is inherent with peak current mode control is also addressed, and then proposes the digital slope compensation in constant-sloped external ramp to suppress the oscillation. For unipolar PWM switching method, an adaptive slope compensation in digital manner is also proposed. In this paper, the operating principles and design guidelines of the proposed scheme are presented, along with the performance analysis and numerical simulation. Also, a 200W inverter hardware prototype has been implemented for experimental verification of the proposed controller scheme.

  • This paper proposes a practical design for a Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel (CHBM) inverter based on Power Electronics Building Blocks (PEBB) and high performance control to improve current control and increase fault tolerance. It is shown that the expansion and modularization characteristics of the CHBM inverter are improved since the individual inverter modules operate more independently, when using the PEBB concept. It is also shown that the performance of current control can be improved with voltage delay compensation and the fault tolerance can be increased by using unbalance three-phase control. The proposed design and control methods are described in detail and the validity of the proposed system is verified experimentally in various industrial fields.

  • In this paper proposed method of maximum power point tracking using boost converter for a connected single phase inverter with photovoltaic system. The maximum power point tracking control is based on generated circuit control MOSFET switch of boost converter and single phase inverter uses predicted current control to control four IGBT's switch in full bridge. The predicted current control provide current with sinusoidal wave shape and inphase with voltage. The generation control circuit allows each photovoltaic module to operate independently at peak capacity, simply by detecting of the output power of the system. Furthermore, the generation control circuit attenuates low-frequency ripple voltage, which is caused by the full-bridge inverter, across the photovoltaic modules. Consequently, the output power of system is increased due to the increase in average power generated by the photovoltaic modules. The effectiveness of the proposed inverter system is confirmed experimentally and by means of simulation.

  • In recent years, The electronic and energy industries demand low power consumption and high efficiency, so under their demands, the white goods industries which are represented for refrigerator and air conditioner system be implemented energy-saving power suppling structure with inverter control system. As inverter control system is different from step control type, when switching system is optimizing temperature control during short period, the inrush plus current can be flown in the circuit. In despite of these characteristics, there is no fuse which can be applied to this type until now. For this reason, we suggest the method of manufacturing protector in the high efficient inverter control system using the alumina-based ceramic radiated heat characteristics and metal films laminated plating. And through the evaluating electrical characteristics, we make a possible to utilize the method when designing overall fuses.

A Novel Control Algorithm of a Three-phase Four-wire PV Inverter with Imbalance Load Compensation Function

  • In this paper, the authors suggest a new control algorithm for a three-phase four-wire photovoltaic (PV) inverter with imbalance load compensation function using conventional proportional-integral (PI) controllers. The maximum power of PV panel is calculated by the MPPT control loop. The reference varying signals of current controllers are transformed to two different rotating frames where they become constant signals. Then simple PI controllers are applied to achieve zero steady-state error of the controllers. The proposed control algorithm are modeled and simulated with imbalance load configuration to verify its performance. The simulation results show that the maximum PV power is transferred to the grid and the imbalance power is compensated successfully by the proposed control algorithm. The inverter has a fast response (~4 cycles) during the transient period. The proposed control algorithm can be effectively utilized to the three-phase four-wire inverter with imbalance load compensation function.

SPWM 구동 방식을 이용한 단상 풀 브리지 인버터의 전압 제어에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Voltage Control of a Single Phase Full-bridge Inverter using SPWM Driving Method)

  • 본 연구에서는 SPWM 구동방식의 단상 풀 브리지 인버터의 전압제어계를 설계하였다. 전압제어계는 단상 풀-브리지 인버터, 출력전압과 기준전압의 오차를 선형적으로 보상하기 위한 PI 제어기, 제어기 신호로부터 SPWM 방식을 이용하여 게이트 신호를 발생시키기 위한 PWM 구동회로, 인버터 출력 전압 파형을 정현 파형으로 필터링하기 위한 LC 필터로 구성하였다. 끝으로, EMTP-RV를 이용하여 PWM 구동방식을 기반으로 하는 단상 풀-브리지 인버터의 전압 제어계를 모델링하였고 수개의 기준전압에 대한 시뮬레이션 연구를 통해 출력전압이 정확하게 기준전압을 수렴하는 것을 확인함으로서 제어계 설계의 유효성을 확인할 수 있었다.
