  • This paper presents a novel 3-phase IGBT module called the SPM (Smart Power Module). This is a new design developed to provide a very compact, low cost, high performance and reliable motor drive system. Several distinct design concepts were used to achieve the highly integrated functionality in a new cost-effective small package. An overall description to the SPM is given and actual application issues such as electrical characteristics, circuit configurations, thermal performance and power ratings are discussed

  • In this paper, a new current control algorithm is proposed for four-switch three-phase brushless DC(BLDC) motor drives, which are suitable for low cost applications. A current reference generation scheme is developed and implemented to obtain high performance characteristics in the four-switch system, such as small torque ripple and fast dynamic speed/torque response. Especially, the proposed scheme can successfully reduce the torque ripple during commutations, so that it can be expected that the four-switch system can be much more practically applied for the industrial application areas.

  • This study focuses on the coordination control problem of multiple electrical excited synchronous motor systems. A robust coordination controller is designed on the basis of cross coupling and an interval matrix. The proposed control strategy can deal with load uncertainty. In addition, the proposed control strategy is applied to a high-power metal-rolling system. Simulation and experiment results demonstrate that the proposed control strategy achieves good dynamic and static performance. It also shows better coordination performance than traditional proportional-integral controllers.

  • 에너지 고갈에 따른 대체 에너지 확립이 화두가 되고 있으며 대체 에너지에 대한 급속한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 이러한 연구가 중요함은 물론 현재, 사용하고 있는 에너지를 얼마나 효율적으로 쓸 것인가에 대해서 고민하고 있다. 기존 산업 시설에서는 에너지를 절감하기 위한 방법으로 저압의 산업 시설에서는 인버터를 적용하여 적게는 10%에서 70%까지에 에너지를 절감효과를 보고 있다. 하지만 고압의 대용량 설비 시설에서는 인버터가 적용된 비율이 채 10%가 넘지 않는다. 이러한 대용량 설비 기계 사용처에서 최근 에너지를 절감하기 방안으로 고압인버터를 적용하기 시작하여, 고압 인버터의 수요가 급속히 늘어나는 추세이다. 이러한 시장 동향을 파악하여 LSIS의 저압인버터의 기술을 바탕으로한 LSMV 고압인버터를 출시하게 되었다. 본 기술서에는 LSMV 시리즈의 특징과 산업 현장에 적용된 사례에 대해서 기술하고자 한다.

  • A impedance model simulating the electrical characteristics of the External Electrode fluorescent lamp operated at high frequency is proposed. The model is constructed from a two parameter equation which is derived based on a set of two measurements. This is a readily constructed and computer simulator oriented model which is suitable for a preliminary design of electronic ballasts. Simulated and experimental results are used to verify the analytical discussions, and moreover, an electronic ballast design example using the proposed model is presented to further demonstrate its application.

  • When renewable sources are connected to the distribution network in the form of a distributed generators(DGs), the effect of intermittent output appears as voltage fluctuation. The surplus power at the consumer ends results in the reverse power flow to the distribution network. This reverse power flow causes several problems to the distribution network such as overvoltage. Application of the reactive power control equipment and power flow control by means of BTB inverter have been suggested as the general solutions to overcome the overvoltage, but they are not economically feasible since they require high cost devices. Herein, we suggest the feeder loop line switch control method to solve the problem.

  • In This Paper, at the PSPICE model is presented by Piezoelectric Transformer and CCFL and equivalent circuit of fluorescent light. Highly effective fluorescent light release for next generation is developed for 35W supremacy model three wave length T5 fluorescent lamps. Lighting a candle experiment of T5 fluorescent lamps is carried out by employing Piezoelectric Transformer power-factor improvement circuit and inverter. PLL method is used for supplying a correct frequency of Piezoelectric Transformer operating.

  • Direct torque control (DTC) scheme provides a very quick torque response without the complex field-orientation block and inner current regulation loop. DTC is known as an appropriate scheme for high power induction motet drives because it can be used at lower switching frequency. There are two major drawbacks with the application of DTC schemes : one is large current harmonics due to flux drooping in a low speed range, the other is that the inverter switching frequency is varying according to motor parameters and operating speed. Switching devices in the power electronics drives should be supported for relatively high switching frequency. In this paper, a P-type fuzzy controller to realize the variable switching sector scheme and a PID-type fuzzy switching frequency regulator are adopted. A meaningful contribution of this paper is to propose a simple realization scheme of the fuzzy switching frequency regulator. Simulation results show the effectiveness of those propositions.

  • In recent years, the hyperspectral instruments with high spatial and high spectral resolution have become an important component of wide variety of earth science applications. The primary mission of the proposed Compact Airborne Imaging Spectrometer System (CAISS) in this study is to acquire and provide full contiguous spectral information with high quality spectral and spatial resolution for advanced applications in the field of remote sensing. The CAISS will also be used as the vicarious calibration equipment for the cross-calibration of satellite image data. The CAISS consists of six physical units: the camera system, the Jig, the GPS/INS, the gyro-stabilized mount, the operating system, and the power inverter and distributor. Additionally, the calibration instruments such as the integrated sphere and spectral lamps are also prepared for the radiometric and spectral calibration of the CAISS. The CAISS will provide high quality calibrated image data that can support evaluation of satellite application products. This paper summarizes the design, development and major characteristic of the CAISS.

  • This paper is an application of Modern control Theory to the control of a current-source inverter (CSI) fed Induction Motor Drive System. A Linear Quadratic-Gaussian (LQG) scheme is developed, in which the Kalman Filter is tuned for high robustness by a method due to Doyle and Stein(8). The design is carried out for a sample system and the robustness by analysis and computer simulation.
