  • The uncertainty regarding inventory may impart dynamic impacts on corporate-level financial decisions. Among others, a decision about capital investment is a crucial decision that requires overall financial stability. Following these theoretical notions, the current study aims to identify possible consequences of inventory volatility relating to corporate capital investment decisions. We employed ten years of data (2010-2019) of non-financial sector firms to achieve the objective. The Driscoll-Kraay model was used to quantify the regression. The statistical results imply that inventory volatility negatively influences capital investment decisions due to information asymmetry about the current financial position. Additionally, more volatility brings discrepancies in managers' investing decisions to fulfill the possible demand options of capital investment that require processing the inventory. However, based upon the statistical findings, it is suggested to corporate managers that they should consider the financial sensitivity of enterprises regarding inventory volatility. Thus, the current study introduces new thoughts regarding inventory volatility and its empirical role in determining capital investment.

  • We study optimal trading strategy of a market maker with stock inventory. Following Avellaneda and Stoikov (2008), we assume the stock price follows a normal distribution. However, we take a constant expected rate of the stock return and assume that the stock volatility is an inverse function of the stock price level. We show that the optimal bid-ask spread of the market maker is wider for a higher expected rate of stock returns.

  • This study is to identify the internal and external factors of a company that can affect the rate of change in the inventory turnover ratio. In addition, by appropriately managing or responding to these factors, changes in the inventory turnover ratio do not occur abruptly, so that the company's business and financial performance can be improved. To confirm this, factors such as gross profit margin, cash flow volatility, advertising expenses, inflation, exchange rate rise, and leading economic index were selected, and these factors were predicted to affect the change rate of inventory turnover. Data of 85,878 companies were obtained from domestic securities listings, KOSDAQ listings, and externally audited companies, and multiple regression analysis was performed using the data. Gross profit margin and cash flow volatility have a significant positive (+) effect, advertising expenses have a negative (-) significant effect, and inflation and exchange rate rises have a negative (-) significant effect. As an influence, the leading economic index was tested to have a significant positive (+) effect. Through this, it is suggested that manufacturing companies can improve their business performance and achieve operational efficiency by well understanding and appropriately managing factors that can affect the change rate of inventory turnover.

  • Production management in the automobile parts industry is carried out according to the production plan of the customer, so it is important to prevent shortages in product supply. As the product composition became increasingly complex, the MES System was built for the purpose of efficient production plan management and inventory management, but its utilization is low. This study analyzed the problems of the MES system and sought to improve it. Through previous studies, it was confirmed that the inventory management of the pull approach that actually occurred in the warehouse is more suitable than the push approach based on the forecast of the warehouse for the volatility, complexity, and uncertainty of orders in the auto parts industry. To realize this, we tried distributed MRP by using the ADO function of VBA to link the standard information of the MES system with Excel and change the structure of the BOM table. Through this, it can help increase the accuracy of production planning and realize efficient inventory management, thereby increasing the utilization of the MES system in the auto parts industry and enhancing the competitiveness of the company.
