Intramolecualr cyclization of a dipyrromethane by an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction producing a new chiral compound

  • Dipyrromethane 2 functionalized with 3-chloropropyl group on the meso carbon undergoes an unusual intramolecular electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction in the presence of $NaN_3$ instead of a simple nucleophilic substitution reaction. As a result, a new chiral dipyrromethane 1 was synthesized. In this reaction, the ${\beta}$-carbon of the pyrrole ring functions as a nucleophile while the carbon next to the chlorine atom acts as an electrophile. Interestingly, this reaction progresses even in the absence of an acid catalyst. Compound 1 was fully characterized by $^1H-^1H$ and $^1H-^{13}C$ COSY NMR spectroscopic analyses and the high resolution EI mass spectrometry.

Photocyclization Reactions of ($\omega$-Phthalimidoalkoxy)acetic Acids via Sequential Single Electron Transfer-Decarboxylation Pathways

  • Studies have been conducted to explore single electron transfer(SET) promoted photocyclization of ($\omega$-phthalimidoalkoxy)acetic acids(alkoxy=ethoxy, n-propoxy and n-butyloxy). Photocyclizations occur in methanol or acetone in high yields to produce cyclized products in which phthalimide carbonyl carbon is bonded to the carbon of side chain in place of the carboxylic group. These photocyclizations are thought to proceed through pathways involving intramolecular SET from oxygen in the $\alpha$-carboxymethoxy groups to the singlet excited state phthalimide moieties followed by decarboxylation of the intermediate $\alpha$-carboxymethoxy cation fadicals and cyclizations by radical coupling. The photocyclizations occur ca. three times faster in both methanol or acetone with one equivalent of sodium hydroxide added to the reactions and occur slower in acetone than in methanol. The efficient and regiselective cyclization reactions observed for photolyses in methanol represent synthetically useful processes for construction of heterocyclic compounds.

  • 20,21,24,25-Tetranitrodibenzo-18-crown-6에 알코올성 염기를 가하여 친핵성 치환반응을 유도하면 crown ether 화합물을 이루는 polyether 고리가 끊어져서 주생성물로 2,4,5-trialkoxynitrobenzene 유도체, 4,5-dialkoxy-1,2-dinitrobenzene 유도체 그리고 crown ether 고리가 부분적으로 끊어져 생긴 bis[(alkoxynitrophenoxy)ethyl]ether 유도체가 부생성물로 얻어졌다. 이가 알코올성 염기에서는 polyether 고리가 끊어진 생성물과 분자내 치환반응이 다시 진행되어 고리축소 현상이 일어나 12-crown-4의 유도체를 얻게 되거나 출발물질이 도로 생성되었다. 이상의 실험은 다양한 알코올의 농도에서 염기의 종류를 달리하여 그 선택성을 알아보았다.

  • Synthesis of tetrahydroimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines and tetrahydropyrido[1,2-a] pyrimidines by a one-pot and three component reaction of ${\alpha}$-oxoketenedithioacetals, diamines and DMAD in water has been described. Different routes for accessing the desired compounds were examined and a few specially designed-substrates have been utilized further to afford the new imidazo and pyrido fused [1,8] naphthyridine tetracyclic compound by $S_NAr$ intramolecular cyclization.

  • The versatile, hitherto unreported 3-(4-(2-phenyldiazenyl)-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl)-3-oxopropanenitrile 3 was prepared by two convenient routes: either by the reaction of ethyl 4-(2-phenyldiazenyl)-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-carboxylate 2 with acetonitrile in the presence of sodium hydride or by treatment of 4-(2-phenyldiazenyl)-3-(2-bromoacetyl)-2H-chromen-2- one 5 with potassium cyanide. Reaction of 3 with heterocyclic diazonium salts 6, 7, 14 and 17 furnished the corresponding hydrazones 8, 9, 15 and 18. The latter hydrazones underwent intramolecular cyclization into the corresponding pyrazolo[5,1- c]-1,2,4-triazine 10, 1,2,4-triazolo[5,1-c]-1,2,4-triazine 11, 1,2,4-triazino[4,3-b]indazole 16 and imidazo[2,1-c]-1,2,4-triazine 19 derivatives, respectively upon refluxing in pyridine.

  • 6-Chloro-2-hydrazinoquinoxaline 4-oxide(11)와 ethyl chloroglyoxylate를 반응시켜 분자내 고리화반응에 의한 ethyl 8-chloro-4H-1,3,4-oxadiazino[5,6-b]quinoxaline-2-carboxylate(12)를 합성하였다. 화합물 12를 hydrazine hydrate와 반응시켜 $C_2$-hydrazinocarbonyl 유도체 13이 합성되었는데, 이것을 치환 벤즈알데히드류 및 헤테로아릴 알데히드류와 반응시켜 8-chloro-2-(substituted benzylidenehydrazinocarbonyl)-4H-1,3,4-oxadiazino[5,6-b]quinoxaline류(14) 및 8-chloro-2-[(2-substituted methylidene)hydrazinocarbonyl]-4H-1,3,4-oxadiazino[5,6-b]quinoxaline류(15)를 각각 합성하였다.

PHOTOCATALYTIC SYNTHESIS OF L-PIPECOLINIC ACID FROM $N_{varepsilon}$-CARBAMYL-L-LYSINE BY AQUEOUS SUSPENSION OF PLATINIZED TITANIUM(IV) OXIDE

  • Photoirradiation at > 300 nm onto a suspension of platinized TiO$_2$ (TiO$_2$-Pt) particles in an aqueous solution. of N$_{\varepsilon}$-carbamyI-L-lysine (Lys(CONH)$_2$) induced the selective N-cyclization of Lys(CONH$_2$) into almost optically pure L-pipecolinic acid (PCA) under argon atmosphere at ambient temperature. Among various TiO$_2$-Pt catalysts, a P-25 (Degussa) powder platinized via impregnation from chloroplatinic acid followed by hydrogen reduction at 753 K exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity for Lys(CONH$_2$) consumption and L-PCA production. GC-MS analyses of L-PCA obtained photocatalytically from $^{15}$N$\alpha$-Lys(CONH$_2$) revealed the selective formation $^{15}$N-substituted L-PCA. This implies that the mechanism for L-PCA production contains selective cleavage of C$_{\varepsilon}$-N bond and intramolecular alkylation at $\alpha$-amino group. Effect of pH on the rate of this photocatalytic reaction was investigated in detail and compared with the pH-dependent charge distribution in Lys(CONH$_2$) molecule. It is clarified that protonation-deprotonation of $\alpha$-amino group gives marked influence on the rate and selectivity of the photocatalytic reaction. On the basis of these results, it is concluded that the selective production of optically pure L-PCA, especially in an acidic suspension of TiO$_2$-Pt, was attributed to the enhanced protonation of $\alpha$-amino group to prevent undesirable oxidation by photogenerated positive holes and blocking of $\varepsilon$-amino group to yield racemic Schiff base intermediate.
