Cryosurgery is a safe method for palliation of endobronchial malignancies causing airway obstruction. Due to its simplicity and effectiveness for controlling bleeding, endobronchial cryosurgery is considered to be a good method that is clinically applicable to a malignant endobronchial tumor. In cases with stenosis caused by an endoluminal tumor, cryo-recanalization with a cryoprobe was immediately effective in most of the patients. A novel technique described by Hetzel in 2004 to achieve rapid recanalization of central airway obstruction with endobronchial cryoprobe. Cryorecanalization technique is feasible and offers many advantages in the interventional therapy of malignant intraluminal tumors of the respiratory tract.
The rodent model has been used frequently to understand stroke pathophysiology, due to its low cost and the large spectrum of genetic strains available. Here, we present a diffuse speckle contrast analysis system (DSCA) with a $1{\times}2$ optical switch that was used to non-invasively assess cerebral blood flow (CBF) changes in the rat during intraluminal suturing for middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) surgery. The blood flow index (BFI) in the left hemisphere was lower than that in the right hemisphere because the left middle cerebral artery was occluded. Furthermore, the performance of the DSCA system was compared with that of commercial laser Doppler flowmetry. The changes in the BFI measured by the two systems were correlated strongly. The DSCA system was less sensitive to motion artifacts and able to measure relatively deep tissue flow in the rat's brain. In conclusion, the DSCA system secured CBF monitoring during surgery in a rodent model without craniotomy.
Small bowel tumors have been difficult to diagnose because of low incidence and absence of specific symptoms. There are no efficient and accurate tests available for diagnosis. Capsule endoscopy is an efficient diagnostic tool for small bowel disease and obscure gastrointestinal bleeding. We diagnosed two cases of small bowel gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) diagnosed by capsule endoscopy that were treated by surgery. A 68 year old male presented with abdominal pain. The capsule endoscopy showed fungating ulcer mass at the jejunum. A 55 year female presented with melena. The capsule endoscopy showed an intraluminal protruding mass with a superficial ulcer at the jejunum. Two cases were diagnosed with GIST after surgery. We report these two case diagnosed by capsule endoscopy and review the medical literature.

Imperforate anus is an anomaly caused by a defect in the development of the hindgut during early pregnancy. It is a relatively common congenital malformation and is more common in males. Although there are cases of a solitary imperforate anus, the condition is more commonly found as a part of a wider spectrum of other congenital anomalies. Although urgent reconstructive anorectal surgery is not necessary, immediate evaluation is important and urgent decompressive surgery may be required. Moreover, as there are often other anomalies that can affect management, prenatal diagnosis can help in optimizing perinatal care and prepare parents through prenatal counseling. In the past, imperforate anus was diagnosed by prenatal ultrasonography based on indirect signs such as bowel dilatation or intraluminal calcified meconium. Currently, it is diagnosed by directly checking the perineum with prenatal ultrasonography. Despite advances in ultrasound technology, accurate prenatal diagnosis is impossible in most cases and imperforate anus is detected after birth. Here, we present two cases of imperforate anus in female fetuses that were not diagnosed prenatally.

Tracheal granuloma, the most commonly reported sequela of pediatric tracheotomy. A variety of techniques are available for the management of tracheal granuloma. Potassium-titanyl-phosphate (KTP) laser has been previously established as an acceptable technique for removal of laryngeal surgery, which emits a green light with a wave length of 532 nm, which is well-absorbed by hemoglobin and can coagulate and vaporize tissue. The ability to deliver laser energy through a flexible glass fiber makes the technique convenient for use with a rigid bronchoscope, overcoming problems with intraluminal access encountered with earlier attempts at CO2 laser therapy for this problem. Another advantage of KTP laser is the avoidance of the risks and morbidity associated with an open procedure. We report our surgical technique KTP laser in the management of tracheal granuloma removal into the tracheostomy site. KTP laser is good tool for management of tracheal granuloma with low incidence of complications.

Laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPRD) is an inflammatory condition of the upper aerodigestive tract mucosa induced by reflux content from stomach. Some of vocal cord diseases are associated with laryngopharyngeal reflux. Because of the pathophysiological features, proton pump inhibitor shows therapeutic effect on some vocal cord diseases. As like that, the gastric reflux contents can make macroscopic or microscopic morphological changes in the upper aerodigestive tract mucosa. Although the pathophysiology of LPRD is relatively clear, clinical diagnosis is still difficult. The diagnosis of LPRD includes objective tests such as 24-hours multichannel intraluminal impedance-pH metry and subjective tests such as questionnaire method. However, the objective verification of reflux is difficult due to invasiveness of the method, and the questionnaire methods have limitations because many symptoms are not specific for LPRD. Moreover, most methods are not fully standardized until now. Despite these limitations, many researchers are struggling to standardize diagnosis and treatment of LPRD, and there are several new achievements recently. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to review the recent literature on the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of LPRD, and to systematize our knowledge.
The gallbladder (GB) is a rare site of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) metastasis. To the best of our knowledge, only a few reports of CT findings of GB metastasis exist in the literature. Herein, we report a case of histologically proven GB metastasis of RCC in a 55-year-old male who underwent CT for an intraluminal polypoid mass simulating a primary GB lesion.
Pulmonary artery intimal sarcoma is a rare tumor with no characteristic symptoms. It is frequently misdiagnosed as pulmonary embolism. We report a case of pulmonary artery intimal sarcoma in a 48-year-old man with dyspnea, cough and blood-tinged sputum. He was initially suspected and treated as a pulmonary embolism. Computed tomography of the chest showed filling defects occupying the entire luminal diameter of the right and left pulmonary artery as well as extraluminal extension of the intraluminal mass. Surgical resection of the tumor confirmed pulmonary artery intimal sarcoma. After surgery, he received 8 cycles of combined chemotherapy consisting of doxorubicin and ifosfamide. After 8 cycles, Computed tomography of the chest showed interval regression of the residual tumor. Radiotherapy was done as total 6,000 cGy for 5 weeks, following the 8th chemotherapy. The patient's condition was successfully stabilized with chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Adenomatoid odontogenic tumors represent 3 to 7 percent of all odontogenic tumors. These tumors are more common in the maxilla than the mandible and usually include the anterior region. Clinically, the most common symptom is painless swelling and the tumor is associated with an unerupted tooth, typically a maxillary or mandibular cuspid. The adenomatoid odontogenic tumor appears radiographically as a unilocular radiolucency around the crown of an impacted tooth, resembling a dentigerous cyst. More often, it contains fine calcifications. Histopathologically, there is a thick wall cystic structure with a prominent intraluminal proliferation of the odontogenic epithelium. The most striking pattern is varying-sized solid nodules of spindle-shaped or cuboidal epithelial cells forming nests or rosette-like structures with minimal stromal connective tissues. Conspicuous within the cellular areas are structures of tubular or duct-like appearance. The duct-like spaces are lined with a single row of cuboidal or low columnar epithelial cells, of which the ovoid nuclei are polarized away from the luminal surface. Small foci of calcification may also be scattered throughout the tumor. These have been interpreted as abortive enamel formations. In some adenomatoid odontogenic tumors, the material has been interpreted as dentoid or cementum.

Purpose: Lobular capillary hemangioma is a vascular tumor that commonly occurs as a cutaneous lesion. Intravenous pyogenic granuloma is a rare form of lobular capillary hemangioma that usually occurs in the veins of the neck and the upper extremities. Methods: A 41-year-old man presented with 3 months history of nodules on the left temporal area and these lesions were clinically mistaken for a typical lipoma or epidermal cyst, but the nodules appeared unusually vascular with sentinel veins on excision. Results: On the histopathologic examination, the excised tissue was observed as an intraluminal polypoid mass, which was attached to the vein via a fibrovascular stalk and capillaries in a loose edematous fibromyxoid stroma, and so the lesions were confirmed to be intravenous pyogenic granuloma. At 6 months after excision, there has been no recurrence and the patient is asymptomatic. Conclusion: Intravenous pyogenic granuloma is a rare variant of lobular capillary hemangioma. This article describes the surgical and histopathological findings of treating pyrogenic granuloma.
