  • Mental health issues related to depression and individual's patterns of interest impact development. This study is to identify patterns of interest and their effects on depressive symptoms in young adults. This cross-sectional study involved 40 participants. The participants were assessed for depressive symptoms, patterns of interest in daily life, and social participation. The depressive symptoms and patterns of interest were assessed by a well-trained interviewer using a face-to-face method. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and logistic regression analysis were implemented using SPSS 22.0. In terms of depressive symptoms, 32.5% of participants reported no depression, while 67.5% were depressed. When comparing interest patterns from the past, present, and future, the degree of depression was significantly correlated with interests in the past (p<.05). The effect of patterns of interest on depressive symptoms was not statistically significant (p>.05). Participation in a variety of activities can help prevent depressive symptoms. Participation in activities of interest can, therefore, be of great help during middle- and late-adult development.

  • The purpose of this paper is to extract the vowel formants of the ten adult male speakers in their twenties and thirties from the Korean Corpus of Spontaneous Speech [4], also known as the Seoul corpus, and to analyze them by comparing to earlier works on the Buckeye Corpus of Conversational Speech [1] in terms of the various linguistic factors that are expected to affect the formant distribution. The vowels extracted from the Korean corpus were also compared to those of the read Korean. The results showed that the distribution of the vowel formants from the Korean corpus was very different from that of read Korean speech. The comparison with English corpus and read English speech showed similar patterns. The factors affecting the Korean vowel formants were the interviewer sex, the location of the target vowel or the syllable containing it with respect to the phrasal word or utterance and the speech rate of the surrounding words.

  • Although telephone surveys are an attractive alternative to household interviews it is important to determine whether the data collected by the two methods are comparable. To answer this question, findings from the telephone survey literatures are examined in the view point of i) direct effect which means expressions of preference of the interview detail of answers on open questions and item missing data rates ii) statistical estimates and iii) differences of interviewers and data collection modes. Differences are explained by social desirability effects on the telephone, cognitive ability of the survey question, and mode effects and interviewer effects.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the residential satisfaction, and to present the direction of the policy to elevate it. A housewife living in the rental apartment in Gwangju completed a structured questionnaire under the guidance of her interviewer. The Questionnaires used in this study were 305. The major findings were as follows : 1 . Degree of the residential satis(action of housewives living in the rental apartment in Gwangju was not high. 2. The significant variables that influenced on the overall residential satisfaction were existence of the delegation of borrowers, cognition of the law for the rental house. In future research, the index to represent the real participation of borrowers have t\ulcorner be made and the variables related the residential satisfaction have to be sought respectively.

  • While there are a number of guidelines used throughout the world in the assessment of acceptability of tall building accelerations, none are based on systematically conducted surveys of occupant reaction to wind-induced motion. In this study, occupant response data were gathered by both a self-reporting mechanism and by interviewer-conducted surveys in control tower structures over a period of four years. These two approaches were designed in conjunction with experimental psychologists to ensure unbiased reporting. The data allowed analysis of perception thresholds and tolerability at different building frequencies and in different wind climates. The long-term nature of the studies also allowed an investigation of the causes and effects of adaptation to building motion. As the surveys were designed to allow multiple use during single storms, the effects of exposure duration were investigated. A final exit survey was conducted at the primary survey location to investigate views of the acceptability of wind-induced motion and the factors underlying these views. The findings of the field studies indicate that none of the currently used acceleration guidelines address all of the factors that contribute to occupant dissatisfaction. An alternative framework for assessing acceleration acceptability is proposed.

  • This article intends to establish a creation, management and preservation process of digital oral records. Because oral records is the work that will record memories of survivors, it is necessary of creating, managing and preserving reliable oral records; Oral records is the work that needs cooperations among interviewer, interviewee and cameraman, the formulation of systematic process can be called an essential issues. Moreover creating, managing and preserving digital oral records need the formulation of systematic process. Therefore this article establish creation process and management and preservation process of digital oral records based on examining a generic character of digital oral records.

  • Objectives This study was aimed to analyze the reports of qualitative research published in domestic Korean medicine journals. Methods Eleven published qualitative research studies were selected for analysis. Selected reports were analyzed by Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ), a reporting guideline for qualitative research. Results In the 1st domain, descriptions of personal characteristics, interviewer's bias or assumption were insufficient. In the 2nd domain, descriptions such as presence of non-participants, research questions for the interview guidelines, data saturation and transcript return to participants were insufficient. In the 3rd domain, descriptions of items related to number of data coder, participants evaluating the finding, and clarity of minor themes were insufficient. Conclusions Qualitative studies in Korean Medicine have increased. COREQ should be considered by investigators who report qualitative research, in order to improve the quality of research.

  • Purpose: The purpose was to test the effects of a premarital education program for singles on their sex role attitude and marriage expectations. Method: Forty seven single people were recruited through website advertisements. Volunteers were randomly assigned either to participate in a 4 week premarital education program(2 hours per week)(n=23) or the option to get a hand-out used with the experimental group after a post-test(n=24). An interviewer blinded to the randomization collected questionnaire data from all subjects at pre and post test. The program covered 2 thematic areas: the value of marriage and gender equity-relations. The data was analyzed using $X^2$-test, t-test, and ANCOVA. Result: There was a significant difference in the marriage-expectation score between the two groups. However, the sex role attitudes score in the experimental group was not significantly different from that of the control group. Conclusion: This premarital education program for singles had positive effects on marriage expectations but not on sex role attitude. Longer follow-up might be needed to evaluate these effects.

  • This paper proposes the use of the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) controller for obtaining optimal cycle time of traffic intersection signal. By means of simulations that have data from expert traffic estimators, the performance of AHP controller is compared with a fixed-time controller and fuzzy controller. A simulation was executed using data obtained from many expert interviewer of Ansan City hall rotary. The principal issue is how AHP controller algorithm can aid traffic signal supervisor to construct an expert system for traffic intersection signal control. This paper has two steps: (I) we shall present a new methodology based on the work of Satty for calculating a scale of importance of each of the objectives, (2) we also consider that the human's decision mechanism is represented by approximating reasoning where the fuzzy integral is used.

  • Excessive consumption, pollution, and am expanding global population are seen as very important issues that must be solved through reusable materials and the reduction of energy consumption. This study examines the values and design elements such as line, color, and textures in eco-friendly fashion that could contribute to the product development of an eco-friendly brand. The following methods of analysis were used in this study. An in-depth interview (where the interviewer records the response of interviewers to questions) was used to grasp the diverse design properties of products that customers need or want and the recorded interviews were documented by computer using open coding. The results show that the personal, economic, and social value of eco-friendly fashion has increased, in addition to the environmental value. The needs and preference of customers for eco-friendly fashion design were diversified and the consumer consciousness was more advanced than the consciousness of experts. This shows that it is not enough to consider the effect on the environment. In conclusion, understanding the personal, environmental, economic, and social value from the viewpoint of customers, finding the optimal design factors, and reflecting them in the development of products are necessary for advanced eco-friendly fashion.
