수치해석 모델링을 이용한 교차 흐름 미세유체 액적 생성 디바이스 채널 교차각이 액적 직경에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Intersection Angle of the Flow-focusing Type Droplet Generation Device Channel on Droplet Diameter by using Numerical Simulation Modeling)

  • In this paper, we studied the effects of intersection angles of the flow-foucusing type droplet generation device inlet channel on droplet diameter using numerical simulation modeling. We modeled different intersection angles with a fixed continuous channel width, dispersed channels width, orifices width, and expansion channels width. Numerical simulations were performed using COMSOL Multiphysics$^{(R)}$ to solve the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations for a two-phase flow in various flow-focusing geometries. Modeling results showed that an increase of the intersection angle causes an increase in the modification of the dispersed flow rate ($v^{\prime}{_d}$), and the increase of the modification of the continuous flow rate ($v^{\prime}{_c}$) obstructs the dispersed phase fluid flow, thereby reducing the droplet diameter. However, the droplet diameter did not decrease, even when the intersection angle increased. The droplet diameter decreased when the intersection angle was less than $90^{\circ}$, increased at an intersection angle of $90^{\circ}$, and decreased when the intersection angle was more than $90^{\circ}$. Furthermore, when the intermediate energy deceased, there was a decrease in the droplet diameter when the intersection angle increased. Therefore, variations in the droplet diameter can be used to change the intersection angle and fluid flow rate.

화상처리에 의한 섬유배향각 분포측정에 있어서 교차점합산법의 정밀도 (Accuracy of Intersection Counting Method in Measurement of Fiber Orientation Angle Distribution Using Image Processing)

  • The fiber oriented condition inside fiber reinforced composite material is a basic factor of mechanical properties of composite materials. It is very important to meausure the fiber orientation angle for the determination of molding conditions, mechanical characteristics, and the design of composite materials. In the work, the fiber orientation distribution of simulation figure plotted by PC is measured using image processing in order to examine the accuracy of intersection counting method. The fiber orientation function measured by intersection counting method using image processing is compared with the calculated fiber orientation function. The results show that the measured value of fiber orientation function using intersection counting method is lower than the calculated value, because the number of intersection between the scanning line and the fiber with smaller fiber aspect ratio is counted less than with larger fiber aspect ratio.

철도 평면선형 개량시 설계초기조건이 미치는 영향 (The effects of Design Initial Condition on Renewal of Railway Existing Curves)

  • 철도 선로선형은 한번 건설되면 변경하기가 매우 어렵다. 따라서 철도에서 선로선형의 변경은 일반적으로 큰 경제적비용을 수반한다. 본 연구에서는 기존 고속철도 및 일반철도의 속도향상을 위한 선형개량 시, 경제성을 고려한 평면선형의 허용개량범위 결정에 설계초기조건(교각)이 미치는 영향에 대해 분석하였다. 분석결과, 교각(Intersection Angle)이 클수록 직선부에 지장물이 있는 경우가 허용범위에 큰 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 교각이 클수록 최대 허용곡선반경은 작아지며, 허용완화곡선장은 길어짐을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 교각의 크기 및 지장물 위치에 따른 개량허용범위를 쉽게 예상할 수 있으며, 속도향상 및 선로개선을 위한 선형 개량시 지장물을 고려한 경제적 설계가 가능할 것으로 예상된다.

간섭 거동에 따른 지하 가스 배관의 영향선 분석 (Analysis of the Critical Path of Underground Gas Pipe According to Interference Behavior)

  • 관망 내 배관의 간섭 거동에 따른 지하 매설 배관의 영향선 분석을 위하여 실제 환경에 부합 하도록 지하의 상부와 하부에 각각 하수관거와 가스관을 매설하여 유한요소모델을 구현하였으며, 두 배관의 교차 정도에 따라 하부 가스 배관의 영향선을 분석하였다. 하수관거와 가스관은 각각 1.0m와 3.39m의 매설심도를 가지며, 두 배관이 이루는 교차각은 $0{\sim}90^{\circ}$에 대하여 해석을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 Ring Deflection과 Bending Stress의 결과로부터, 교차각에 따른 영향선을 분석하였으며, 그 결과 두 배관이 이루는 교차각과 하부 배관의 영향선은 일치함을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 배관의 간섭 거동에 따른 하부 배관의 영향선은 두 배관의 교차각과 깊은 관계가 있다고 판단된다.

신호교차로 안전성향상을 위한 단속카메라의 효과분석 연구 -측면직각 충돌사고를 중심으로- (Effect Analysis on Red Light Camera for Signalized Intersection Safety -Focused on Side Right-Angle Collision Accidents-)

  • PURPOSES : Before-and-after studies of red light cameras were conducted with the aim of reducing the number of side right-angle collisions. Three different methods were used for the before-and-after studies, and the analysis results were compared. METHODS : This research used the naive before-and-after method, the comparison-group method, and the empirical Bayes method to study the effects of red light cameras on side-angle collisions. The results of the three before-and-after methods were compared and interpreted in terms of safety indications at signalized intersections. RESULTS : The research results showed that side right-angle collisions can be reduced by installing red light cameras at signalized intersections. All three methods guarantee safety improvements of 25~30% on average. With regard to the results of each method, the naive before-and-after method, the comparison-group method, and the empirical Bayes method showed safety improvements of 25.6%, 27.8%, and 29.7%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS : It was concluded that red light cameras are an effective countermeasure to improve intersection safety. In particular, by installing red light cameras, side right-angle collisions can be reduced by up to approximately 25~30%.

  • Two roll straightener showed the remarkable improvement in straightness betterment of the bar compared with other types of straightener. So, in this study we designed a two-cross straightener curvature for the straightness improvement of a bar and contact sections with respect to the variation of the gap between two-cross roll using nonlinear contact analysis. The Displacement in terms of a intersection angle between roll and bar was predicted on with the effect of a straightness and plastic deformation behaviors of the bar according to the roll drive of a two cross-roll straightener.

교차구멍 에서의 디버링 (Deburring of Intersection Holes)

  • A new design for deburring tools for intersecting holes is introduced. The tool tip is mounted on a slender cantilever assembled into a circular shank. The tool tip has been design to cover ranges of exit angle and diameter ratio between intersecting holes. The design is an improvement over the previous ones by the authors. Experiments have been performed on AL6061. With the new design, mild exit burrs with exit angles greater than 45$^{\circ}$ are successfully removed. For large burrs with smaller exit angles, however, the deburring could be incomplete.

지하 매설 교차 관망 내 강.연성관의 상호작용에 관한 연구 (Study for Rigid and Flexible Pipe Interaction at the Crossing Point of Underground Pipeline Network)

  • 본 연구는 지중에서 배관이 교차할 때 상부 강성관이 하부 연성관에 영향을 미치는 유효 깊이와 유효 길이에 대한 개념을 이용하여 두 매설 배관의 교차 정도와 배관 사이의 거리에 따른 하부 매설 배관의 영향범위를 파악 하고자한다. 이를 위하여 상부 배관과 하부 배관을 각각 원심력 철근콘크리트관과 가스수송용 강관으로 구현하였다. 이때 1.0m에 매설된 상부 배관으로부터 하부 배관은 각각 0.5m에서 5m의 매설심도를 가지며 두 배관의 교차각을 0, 30, 60, $90^{\circ}$로 변화하여 연구를 진행하였다. 그 결과 유효깊이는 두 매설 배관의 교차각이 증가함에 따라 증가하며, 두 매설관 사이의 거리가 증가함에 따라 감소하다 일정 값으로 수렴하게 된다. 또한 두 교차 배관의 교차 각 증가에 따른 유효길이와 휨응력 합의 관계를 정리하였다.

지형과 사교하는 갱구부의 비탈면 최소화 방안 연구 (A Study on the Minimization of Cutting Slope around Tunnel Portal)

  • The Cutting slope is to be minimized when a tunnel meets the contour of slope terrain at a right angle around its portal. However, a tunnel portal has been generally installed at a right angle to the longitudinal axis of a tunnel with no consideration of the intersection angle with the slope terrain. This sometimes tended to cause huge cutting slope that resulted in many disadvantage in terms of safty, economy and environment. Therefore, the minimization of cutting slope is studied by taking the intersection angle into account, and the result is compared with that by the conventional method. In addition a design method for the inclined portal to the tunnel axis is proposed through 3D-FEM analysis, also the applicable ground condition is suggested.

A Steering Wheel Angle Analysis of Old and Young Drivers in Right Turning at Intersection

  • Due to the ageing-related degradation in physical and cognitive abilities, the elderly have difficulty in car driving and this is related to the high rate of car accidents among them. This study investigated the kinematic characteristics of old drivers' steering in right turning at intersections by comparing with young drivers. Thirteen old(60~70) and thirteen young(20~30) drivers who participated in the experiment turned their cars right side at intersections in a driving simulator. As results, the completion time of right turning at intersection of old drivers was larger than that of young drivers. The speeds of vehicle at the beginning and ending point of the right turning area of old drivers were smaller than those of young drivers, and also the steering angle at the ending point of the turning area of the former was smaller than that of the latter. The normalized jerk of old driver's steering was significantly larger than that of young drivers. These results indicate that old drivers modify their steering movement repeatedly and take the driving strategy of avoiding risks due to their reduced physical capabilities.
