The quality of chaotic mixing in square cavity flow was studied numerically by CFD simulation and particle tracking technique. The chaotic mixing was generated by using time-periodic electro-osmotic flow. Finite Volume Method (FVM) was employed to get the stretching and folding field in cavity domain. With adjusting the initial condition of concentration distribution, the best values of modulation period and Peclet number which gave us good mixing performance was determined precisely. From $Poicar{\acute{e}}section$and Lyapunov exponents for characteristic trajectories we find that mixing performance also depends on modulation period. The higher value of modulation period, the better mixing performance wag achieved in this case. Furthermore, the results for tracking particle trajectories were also compared between using of Bilinear Interpolation and Higher-order scheme. The values of modulation period for obtaining best mixing effect were matched between using FVM and particle tracking techniques.

As consumer electronics, information, and aero-space industry grow, the demand for aspheric lens increases higher. To enhance the precision and productivity of aspheric surface, a CAM system for ultra-precision aspheric surface needs to be realized. In this study, the developed CAM system can generate NC code for various aspheric surfaces fast and precisely by Tri-arc interpolation method that the location of maximum error is fixed. The cutting condition input module and the NC code verification module are adequate to ultra-precision machining, so that a operator can obtain products fast and easily.

We propose a consistent numerical method for elliptic interface problems with nonhomogeneous jumps. We modify the discontinuous bubble immersed finite element method (DB-IFEM) introduced in (Chang et al. 2011), by adding a consistency term to the bilinear form. We prove optimal error estimates in L2 and energy like norm for this new scheme. One of the important technique in this proof is the Bramble-Hilbert type of interpolation error estimate for discontinuous functions. We believe this is a first time to deal with interpolation error estimate for discontinuous functions. Numerical examples with various interfaces are provided. We observe optimal convergence rates for all the examples, while the performance of early DB-IFEM deteriorates for some examples. Thus, the modification of the bilinear form is meaningful to enhance the performance.

For the analysis of Kirchhoff plate bending problems, a new meshless method is implemented. For the satisfaction of the $C^1$ continuity condition in which the first derivative is treated an another primary variable, Hermite interpolation is enforced on standard reproducing kernel particle method. In order to impose essential boundary conditions on solving $C^1$ continuity problems, shape function modifications are adopted. Through numerical tests, the characteristics and accuracy of the HRKPM are investigated and compared with the finite element analysis. By this implementatioa it is shown that high accuracy is achieved by using HRKPM for solving Kirchhoff plate bending problems.
The numerical procedure has been developed for simulating incompressible viscous flow around a turbine stage with rotor-stator interaction. This study solves 2-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations on a non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system. The Marker-and-Cell concept is applied to efficiently solve continuity equation. To impose an accurate boundary condition, O-H multiblocked grid system is generated. O-type grid and H-type grid is generated near and outer rotor-stator The cubic-spline interpolation is applied to handle a relative motion of a rotor to the stator. Turbulent flows have been modeled by the Baldwin- Lomax turbulent model. To validate present procedure, the time averaged pressure coefficients around the rotor and stator are compared with experiment and a good agreement obtained.
An equivalent single-layer theory (EST) is put forward for analyzing free vibrations of steel-concrete composite beams (SCCB) based on a higher-order beam theory. In the EST, the effect of partial interaction between sub-beams and the transverse shear deformation are taken into account. After using the interlaminar shear force continuity condition and the shear stress free conditions at the top and bottom surface, the displacement function of the EST does not contain the first derivatives of transverse displacement. Therefore, the C0 interpolation functions are just demanded during its finite element implementation. Finally, the EST is validated by comparing the results of two simply-supported steel-concrete composite beams which are tested in laboratory and calculated by ANSYS software. Then, the influencing factors for free vibrations of SCCB are analyzed, such as, different boundary conditions, depth to span ratio, high-order shear terms, and interfacial shear connector stiffness.

To estimate RCS(Radar Cross Section) at arbitrary incident angles for large objects, an interpolation method is required based on the pre-calculated RCS database at finite discrete sampling points. It is numerically difficult to compute the RCS by a large object at all required sampling points, since the computation time may be very long for one sampling point and many sampling points are required to satisfy the exact sampling condition. Therefore, it may be required to accurately estimate the RCS at any incident angles based on a database whose size is as small as possible. In this paper, the accuracy of two interpolation methods base on the sinc-and VSH(Vector Spherical Harmonics) functions are numerically compared.

The gravity anomaly is a basic geophysical data applied in various fields such as geophysics, geodesy and national defense. In general, the gravity anomaly is used through a interpolation process based on the constructed database. The gravity variation, however, is appeared in various shapes depending on the topography and the density of the underground structures. Therefore, the interpolation could lead to a large differences if the gravity fields do not satisfy the assumptions on the signal behavior like linear or a certain degree polynomials. Furthermore, the interpolation does not reflect the physical characteristics of the gravity such as the harmonic condition. In this study, the gravity modeling using the plane Fourier series and radial basis functions are performed to overcome the problems in the usual interpolation. The results of the modeling is analyzed for the case of the gravity referenced navigation focused on the signal characteristics. Based on the study, it was found that the results from modeling are not much different to that from the interpolation in a smoothly varied area. In case of the highly varied area, however, a large differences are appeared among the three methods. Especially, the Fourier series shows the most smooth variations in the modeled gravity values while the highest variations appeared in the interpolation. Applying to the gravity referenced navigation, it was found that the modeling is more effective in calculation cost. It is considered that the results from this study provides a basis on effective modeling of the gravity fields in terms of the signal characteristics and resolution for various application fields.
This paper presents Galerkin- and Upwind-finite element analyses solution in the travelling magnetic filed problem. The travelling magnetic field problem is subject to convective- diffusion equation. Therefore, the solution derived from Galerkin-FEM with linear interpolation function may oscillate between the adjacent nodes. A simple model with Derichlet, Noumann and periodic boundary condition respectively, have been analyzed to investigate stabilities of solutions. It is concluded that the solution of Galerkin-FEM may oscillate according to boundary condition and element type, but that of Upwind-FEM is stable regardless boundary condition.

This paper present the result of the investigation, the distribution of salt contamination with the influence of geographical condition. To get the ESDD data, a conventional brush washing method was adapted, and IC(ion chromatography) was used to measure the quantity of anions, such as Cl$\^$-/ and SO$_4$$\^$2-/. And we make an analysis on the distribution of salt contamination with the increase of distance from shore. With 10 month ESDD data, we seek the 95% ESDD value with interpolation method. With these analyses, we had obtained the formulation concerned with the distance from sea. And could know the composition of contamination.
