학업부진 대학생을 위한 또래 멘토링 프로그램의 효과 분석 (Outcome Analysis of a Peer Mentoring Program for College Students on Academic Probation)

  • Purpose: There are a number of issues that can prevent students from obtaining a college degree. Our aim is to support academic probation students to improve their grades through a peer mentoring program. Method: 29 students as peer mentors were enrolled to provide support for 35 academic probation students and 51 as control. All students participated in the 4 month-long program including mentoring twice a week and out of campus activities. To identify factors affecting the change in the participants' GPA, a self-efficacy scale and an interpersonal support evaluation list were given to them before, as well as after the program. Using the SPSS/PC program, Chi-square test, paired t-test, ANOVA and lineal regression were applied. Results: All subjects significantly improved their self-efficacy and interpersonal support evaluation after the program (P<.001). The largest change in GPA after the program was shown in academic probation group (P<.001). Group, general self-efficacy, tangible help, belonging all were put into a regression model explaining the change in their GPA after the program (modified R squre is 69.5%, P<.05). Conclusion: A mentoring program, which aims to enhance self-efficacy and interpersonal support, can provide positive influences for a college student who needs a little extra attention from a peer.

간호사가 지각하는 사회적 지지, 건강증진행위가 간호업무성과에 미치는 영향 (The influence of social support and health promotion behaviors on nursing work performance among nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the predicting factors of nursing work performance. Methods: The participants in this study were 148 nurses working in S university hospital in P city. The scales included social support, health promoting lifestyle profile-II (HPLP-II), and nursing work performance. A descriptive analysis and stepwise multiple regression were used for data analysis. Results: Significant correlations were found among social support, health promotion behaviors and nursing work performance. The significant predictive factors of nursing work performance were the emotional support subscale of social support (β=.31, p<.001) and the interpersonal relations subscale of health promotion behaviors (β=.32, p<.001). These two subscales explained 27% of nursing work performance. Conclusion: Nursing education programs should include an emphasis on developing methods of emotional support and interpersonal relations in order to improve nursing work performance among clinical nurses.

유아교사의 문제행동지도 효능감에 대한 개인적 변인과 대인관계 변인의 영향 (Effects of Individual and Interpersonal Variables on Early Childhood Teachers' Efficacy of Problem Behavior Guidance)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of individual and interpersonal variables on early childhood teachers' efficacy of problem behavior guidance. Individual variables consisted of teachers' socio-demographic characteristics, experience of training course on problem behavior guidance and warm-hearted attitude. Interpersonal variables consisted of intimacy with colleagues, support from the principal of a kindergarten, parental partnerships. Subjects were 122 early childhood teachers in Busan. Major findings were as follows. There were significant differences in teachers' efficacy of problem behavior guidance with respect to teachers' age, teaching experience, position, marriage status, experience of training course on problem behavior guidance, warm-hearted attitude, intimacy with colleagues, and support from the principal of a kindergarten. In other words, a higher level of teachers' efficacy of problem behavior guidance was shown in the teachers who were older, highly experienced, or in higher positions. In addition, teachers who were married, had completed a training course on problem behavior guidance, had a higher warm-hearted attitude, had a intimacy with colleagues, or had a support from the principal of a kindergarten were found to have higher efficacy of problem behavior guidance. As results of examining relative effects of individual and interpersonal variables on efficacy of problem behavior guidance, the influential variables are teaching experience, warm-hearted attitude, support from the principal of a kindergarten, and position in that order.

공무원의 건강행동 및 개인 간.조직 차원의 건강환경과 직무스트레스의 관계 (Health Behaviors, Interpersonal/Organizational Health Environment, and Job Stress among Government Officials in Korea)

  • Objectives: We aim to investigate association between health behavior, interpersonal/organizational environment and job stress among government officials. Methods: Through health examination and a survey, this cross sectional study investigated 543 government officials working at Central Government Complex in Seoul, Korea. Health behaviors included alcohol drinking, smoking, moderate exercise and food frequency. Interpersonal environment was measured by health behavior practices of significant others and social support for health promotion. And the measures of organizational environment included facilities for exercise, health related norms and health supportive organizational systems. Job stress was assessed by short version of Korean Occupational Stress Scale(KOSS). Results: The level of job stress among female officials was higher than that of male officials. Multivariate logistic model suggested that higher job stress in male officials was significantly associated with lower position(OR=0.267, p<.01) less grain intake(OR=0.642, p<.05), lower level of social support(OR=0.810, p<.01) and abdominal obesity(OR=2.407, p<.05). On the contrary, female officials' stress level was negatively associated with healthy organizational environment(OR=0.725, p<.05). Conclusions: It is suggested that addressing job stress require tailoring intervention by gender characteristics and integration of interpersonal and organizational level approaches.

Social Support의 한국적 의미 (Search for the Meaning of Social Support in Korean Society)

  • In Korea the concept of social support was first used as a research concept in nursing and has not had much application in the clinical field. Another problem is that research on social support has used a direct translation of the words “social support” into Korean as “sawhejuk jiji”. Three questions were posed to direct the re-search. 1) Is there a concept of social support in Korean society? 2) if so, what words or expressions are used to de-scribe it? 3) further, if so, how is social support structured and how does it function? In order to answer the research questions a three-step research methodology was used : The first step consisted of a literature review on re-search related to social support and on information on the background of, and the way of thinking re-lated to interpersonal relations among Korean people. The second step, which was done to identify whether there is a concept of social support in korean society, involved interviewing a sample of the population. The third step involved a panel discussion that included the members of the research team and three consultants, a sociologist, a philosopher and a scholor in korean literature. A review of the literature on interpersonal relationships in traditional korean society identified a four cirole structure that explains interpersonal relationships. The first circle with “me” at the center is the family but here “me” disappears into the “we” that is essential for a cooperative agricultural society. In the second circle are those close to “me” but outside the family. The third circle includes those with whom “I ” have infrequent but regular contact and with whom correct conduct is important. The last circle is all the people with whom “I” have nothing in common. They are excluded in interpersonal relationships. The literature on interpersonal relationships showed that within the traditional Korean society people lived in villages where most people were very familiar with each other. “Yun”, the social network established the connection and “Jung”, the feeling of affection increased with time as the connection was strengthened. In the traditional village psychological support was provided through “Mallaniki”, “Pumashi” and “Kae” with the latter two also providing material support. In modern Korea there are more informal and formal social networks, like social services and community activities on the formal level and cultural and leisure groups along with “kae’s on the informal level. But even with this modern variety of groups, most social support comes from informal networks that resemble the traditiorlal “Pumashi”, “Kai” md “Mallaniki”. The six member research team interviewed 65 people in order to identify whether there is a concept of social support and then analysed their responses. There were 20 different words describing the reception of the social support and these could be grouped into seven major categories : virtuous, fortunate, helped, supported, blessed, attached(receiving affection) and receiving (grace) benevolence. there were 27 words describing the act of social support which could be categorized into seven major categories : love, looking after, affection(attachment), kindness(goodness), faith, psychological help and material help. for the meaning of social support translated as “sawhe juk jiji” there were a total of 14 different answers which could be categorized into 3 major categories : help, agreement, and faith. In third step, the results of the literature review and the answers to the questions were discussed in a pannel. The results of the discussion led to the following definition of social support in Korea which is shaped like a the four sided pyramid on a base. Social support is the apex of the pyramid and four sides are made up of : “do-oom” (both emotional and material help), “jung” (connectedness, or relationship bound by affection, regard or shared common experience ), “midum” (faith or belief in), “eunhae” (kindness or benevolence). The research team identified “Yun”( the basic network of relationships) as the base of the pyramid and as such the foundation for the components of social support in Korean culture. On “Yun” rest the other four components of social support : “Jung”, “Midum”, “Do-oom”, and “Eunhae”, For social support to take place there must be “Yun”. This is an important factor in social support. In private social network “Jung” is an essential factor in social support. But not in the public social network. “Yun” is a condition for “Jung” and “Jung” is the manifestation of support.

탈북청소년을 위한 대인간호중재 프로그램의 개발 및 효과 (Development and Effectiveness of the Interpersonal Caring Program for Young North Korean Defectors)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the interpersonal caring program for young North Korean defectors which we developed based on Kim's interpersonal caring technique. Methods: This study employs a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study are 36 young North Korean defectors living in three areas. The participants are recruited through alternative schools, churches, and acquaintances. The experimental group consists of 20 participants and the control group consists of 16 participants. Experiments are conducted by four days. Specifically, the experiments are conducted eight times and each takes about 120 minutes. Furthermore, we run the camp for two nights and three days. We test our hypothesis by using Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Independent t-test, Paired t-test, and Independent t-test. Results: All the test statistics support our hypotheses such as self-esteem (t=1.87, p=.035), mental health (t=-1.69, p=.049), interpersonal relationships (t=1.93, p=.031), and quality of life (t=1.88, p=.034). Conclusion: We found that the interpersonal caring program developed in this study is effective in improving North Korean defectors' self-esteem, mental health, interpersonal relationships, and quality of life.

치매노인보호자의 부양부담이 대인관계문제에 미치는 영향에 관한 융합연구 : 가족지지의 조절효과를 중심으로 (A Convergence study on the effect of Caregiving Burden on Interpersonal problem of Dementia Caregivers : Focusing on moderating effect of Family Support)

  • 본 연구는 치매노인보호자의 부양부담이 대인관계문제에 미치는 영향에서 가족지지의 조절효과를 검증하고, 이를 바탕으로 사회복지적 함의를 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 수도권 7곳, 지방 11곳에 위치한 주간보호센터 및 치매지원센터를 이용하는 치매노인의 보호자 중 자녀 및 며느리 341명을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문조사를 실시하였고, 본 연구에서는 불성실한 응답을 제외한 326명을 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 연구의 가설을 검증하기 위하여 빈도분석, 기술통계 분석과 다중회귀분석을 사용하였다. 분석 결과, 치매노인보호자의 50.9%가 높은 부양부담을 경험하고 있으며, 43.6%가 고위험의 대인관계문제를 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 회귀분석을 실시한 결과, 부양부담은 대인관계문제에 정적인 영향관계를 가지는 것으로 검증되었다. 또한, 가족지지는 부양부담과 대인관계문제간의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이들 바탕으로 하여 부양부담으로 인해 대인관계문제를 겪고 있는 치매노인보호자들을 위한 가족 및 대인관계 개선 프로그램 도입 등의 실천적, 정책적 개입 방안을 제언하였다.

치위생과 학생이 지각한 가족지지와 임상실습 만족도와의 관계연구 (A study on the relationship between perceived family support and satisfaction of clinical practice by dental hygiene students)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the degree of family support and the degree of satisfaction in clinical practice by dental hygiene students. Methods : In this study, convenience sampling was conducted in 272 dental hygiene students from 3 dental hygiene colleges in South Jeolla Province, from October 4 through 15, 2010. A survey was conducted by using structured questionnaires. The data was analyzed by t-test, a one way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results : Family support according to general characteristics showed a significant difference by economic status(p<0.001), satisfaction of major(p<0.01), and interpersonal relationship(p<0.05). Satisfaction degree on clinical practice according to general characteristics showed a significant difference by satisfaction of major(p<0.05) and interpersonal relationship(p<0.05). The relationship between generally perceived family support correlated with the degree of satisfaction in clinical practice(r=.154, p<0.05). Conclusions : It was found that a higher degree of satisfaction in clinical practice depends on a higher degree of family support. Therefore it is required to program development to improve satisfaction level of clinical practice by family support.

대학생의 사회적지지, 심리적 행동특성 및 스트레스가 우울수준에 미치는 영향 -공분산구조분석에 의한 인과모델의 검증- (The Effect of Social Supports, Psychological Behaviors, and Stress on the Depression Symptoms of College Students -Validation of Casual Model using Covariance Structure Analysis-)

  • 본 연구는 대학생의 사회적 지지(가족의 사회적 지지, 친구의 사회적 지지), 심리적 행동특성(자기존중감, 대인의존행동특성, 통제신념) 및 스트레스가 우울수준에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 실시하였다. 조사대상은 D광역시의 남녀 대학생 546명으로 하였으며, 연구방법은 2015년 10월에 자기기입식 설문조사에 의하였다. 연구결과, 조사대상자의 우울수준은 가족의 사회적 지지, 친구의 사회적 지지, 자기존중감 및 통제신념이 높은 군보다 낮은 군에서 유의하게 높은 반면, 대인의존행동 특성과 스트레스가 낮은 군보다 높은 군에서 유의하게 높았다. 또한, 조사대상자의 우울수준은 가족의 사회적 지지, 친구의 사회적 지지, 자기존중감 및 통제신념과는 유의한 음의 상관관계를 보인 반면, 대인의존행동특성 및 스트레스와는 유의한 양의 상관관계를 보였다. 공분산 구조분석 결과, 스트레스원의 인지는 사회적 지지의 인지나 심리적 행동특성보다 우울수준에 더 큰 영향을 미쳤으며, 스트레스원의 인지가 높을수록, 사회적 지지의 인지나 심리적 행동특성이 낮을수록 우울수준을 증가시키는 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 위와 같은 결과는 대학생들의 우울수준은 사회적 지지와 심리적 행동특성이 낮고, 스트레스가 높을 경우 증가한다는 것을 시사하고 있으며, 특히 다른 요인들보다 스트레스에 의해 더 큰 영향을 받고 있음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 대학생들의 우울수준을 감소시키기 위해서는 학생들이 경험하는 주요 스트레스원이 무엇인지 파악하고 스트레스원을 감소시키기 위한 노력이 필요하다고 생각된다.

보건소 신규방문간호사의 대인태도와 의사소통능력 (The Relation between Interpersonal Attitude and Communication Competence of New Visiting Nurses in Community Health Center)

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the relations of interpersonal attitude and communication competence of new community health nurses. Methods: The research design was a correlational study. The data were collected from 136 visiting nurses using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using independent t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. Results: The type of interpersonal attitude in subjects was I+U+ and the score of communication competence was 3.6. Among 15 sub-dimensions, the highest score was responsiveness and the lowest was assertiveness. There were no significant differences in communication competence by general characteristics. Factors influencing on communication competence in new visiting nurses were interpersonal attitude I+(I am OK) (${\beta}$=.34) and I-(I am not OK) (${\beta}$=-.28). Conclusion: Education program, stressing the self-awareness, is necessary to increase positive interpersonal attitude and communication competence for reemployment of community health nurses. Furthermore, in order to reinforce assertiveness, institutional support should be accompanied with the efforts of individual level.
