HMM-based Adaptive Frequency-Hopping Cognitive Radio System to Reduce Interference Time and to Improve Throughput

  • Cognitive Radio is an advanced enabling technology for the efficient utilization of vacant spectrum due to its ability to sense the spectrum environment. It is important to determine accurate spectrum utilization of the primary system in a cognitive radio environment. In order to define the spectrum utilization state, many CR systems use what is known as the quiet period (QP) method. However, even when using a QP, interference can occur. This causes reduced system throughput and contrary to the basic condition of cognitive radio. In order to reduce the interference time, a frequency-hopping algorithm is proposed here. Additionally, to complement the loss of throughput in the FH, a HMM-based channel prediction algorithm and a channel allocation algorithm is proposed. Simulations were conducted while varying several parameters. The findings show that the proposed algorithm outperforms conventional channel allocation algorithms.

경남일부 청소년의 인터넷 식생활 정보이용에 관한 연구 (Adolescent' Internet Utilization Status of Dietary Information in Kyungnam)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the utilization status of internet dietary information by gender(boys: 363, girls: 366) in adolescent(middle & high school students). The results were summarized as follows. The internet using frequency of 6-7times per week had 45.0% of subjects and the using time of internet per a time was shown mainly'<2hours(68.5%)'. The main place for internet use was home(79.0%) and favorite search engine was 'Yahoo'(45.7%) and 'Daum'(19.3%). As main purpose using internet were mentioned 'social intercourse'(45.0%) and data search'(24.8%). The organization that offer to reliable internet information was educational institution'(49.4%). The problems in using information site were 'poor information'(26.4%), 'slow connection speed'(22.6%), and 'don't arouse interest'(18.8%). The search experience about dietary information had only 27.9% of subjects and search purpose was 'for homework'(33.3%) and 'for health'(32.0). The satisfaction degree of dietary information was not high. The connection motive to dietary information was mainly 'by site navigation casualty'(55.7%). Only 7.7% of subjects had experience of nutrition counseling using internet, and the motive of nutrition counseling was also 'by site navigation causally'(55.8%). The purpose of counseling was 'for diet'(41.5%) and 'for health problem'(30.2%), and the satisfaction degree of counseling result was very low. As the ask of improvement for counseling site were pointed out 'poor in answer content'(44.8%) and 'lazy answer'(31.0%). The subjects wanted to get the dietary information about 'growth in status'(41.4%), 'diet related skin beauty'(14.6%), the update period less 1 month, and the way of 'free board'(32.3%), 'game'(21.1%) and 'animation'(19.3%) as offer tool. The results of this study showed that although the internet using percent and frequency of subjects was high, they used dietary information very seldom and they are dissatisfied with internet nutritional information. Therefore, the information donor should consider which dietary information was needed and what is the optimal tool for adolescent.

평남과 전북지역 초등학교 영양사의 인터넷 및 식생활정보 이용실태 (The Status of the Utilization Internet and Dietary Information by Elementary School Dietitians in the Gyeongnam and Jeonbuk Areas)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the status of the utilization of internet and dietary information by elementary school dietitians (total = 201) The results were summarized as follows: All subjects used the internet regularly and the major purpose they mentioned for using it was ″data search″ (72.3%). Those having a frequency of using the internet 6 to 7 times per week were 46.7% of the subjects and the majority indicated the duration of their use of the internet was ″〈 2 hours″ (68.5%). They mainly used the internet at ″school″ (81.8%) , and their favorite search engines were ″Daum″ (41.1%) and ″Yahoo″ (34.7%). They stated that the organization that offered reliable internet information were those ″related to society and organizations″ (36.9%) and ″educational institutions″ (33.8%). Ninety-five percent of the subjects searched for dietary information mainly ″for public affairs″ (80.0%) Their degree of satisfaction when searching for information was high (78.7%). Those dissatisfied with internet sites when searching for dietary information give the following reasons: ″poor information″ (39.1%) and ″slow updates″ (25.4%). They acquired information on nutrition and health management mainly through ″the internet″ (63.6%) The most frequently requested information about public affairs was on ″Materials for nutritional education″ (38.6%) and ″up-to-date nutritional information″ (16.0%) . The desirable update periods for websites was ″1 -3 months″ (51.8%) and ″ < 1 month″ (30.6%), and the favorite site colors were ″blue″ (37.8%) and ″green″ (37.8%). The results of this study showed that, although the internet usage was high, the dietitians were dissatisfied with the information obtained.   • This study was carried out to investigate the utilization status of internet and dietary information by gender (boys : 442, girls : 461) in school children (total 903). The results were summarized as follows. The most of children used internet regularly (98.1%) and major purpose of using were mentioned as 'game (39.0%)' and 'social intercourse (49.5%)'. The duration of internet use was '< 2hours (80.9%)' They used internet mainly at 'home (88.8%)', and favorite search engines were 'Yahoo (54.2%)' and 'Daum (31.1%)'. The searching experience on dietary information was from only 35.6% of subjects mainly 'for homework (39.6%)' and 'for health (36.9%)'. The satisfaction degree of searched information was 'high (79.5%)'. Dissatisfactory reasons of internet site for dietary information were pointed out to be 'bring little interest (28.9)', 'difficult contents (19.2%)', and 'poor Information (18.2%)'. Only fifteen % of subjects had experience of nutrition counseling using internet, and purpose of counseling was mainly 'for homework (51.4%)' and 'for health problem (24.3%)'. The problems for nutritional counseling site were pointed out to be 'difficult answer content (31.7%)', 'insincere answer (28.6%)'and 'poor answer content (25.4%)'. They acquire information of nutrition and health management mainly through 'internet (43.7%)'. 'Growth and nutrition (28.3%)', 'improvement in studying ability (13.8%)', 'right weight control (13.3%)' and 'cooking (12.8%)'were most frequently asked information, They had a preference for 'game (40.5%)', 'animation (29.9%)' and 'quiz (18.1%)'as loaming method tools. The favorite site color was 'green (51.3%)'The results of this study showed that although the internet use was very high, they used internet to search dietary information very seldom. Therefore, the information donor should find out what is the optimal tool, what kind of dietary information was needed for school children.

부분적 광파장 변환 노드를 이용한 광인터넷 복구 (Optical Internet Recovery using Partial Wavelength Conversion Nodes)

  • 이 논문에서는 광통신망에서 광파장 변환 능력이 통신망 복구 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 기존의 연구에서는 그물망 형태의 광통신망에서 약 30% 정도의 광파장 변환 능력이 제공된다면 Call Blocking 확률의 측면에서 100%의 광파장 변환 능력을 가질 때와 거의 같은 정도의 성능을 나타낸다고 알려져 왔다. 그러나 이는 정상적인 광파장 채널을 대상으로 하였을 때의 결과이고, 복구를 위한 예비 경로 및 예비 광파장을 포함한 복구 성능에 대한 광파장 변환 능력의 영향은 충분히 분석되지 않고 있다. 본 논문에서는 광파장 변환 능력이 예비 광파장의 이용 효율 면에서 망 복구 성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 실험 결과는 광파장 변환 능력과 복구를 위한 예비 광파장의 이용 효율성은 서로 비례하는 것으로 나타나, 정상적인 광파장 채널만을 대상으로 했던 기존 연구 결과와는 다름을 알 수 있다.

A Pattern-Based Prediction Model for Dynamic Resource Provisioning in Cloud Environment

  • Cloud provides dynamically scalable virtualized computing resources as a service over the Internet. To achieve higher resource utilization over virtualization technology, an optimized strategy that deploys virtual machines on physical machines is needed. That is, the total number of active physical host nodes should be dynamically changed to correspond to their resource usage rate, thereby maintaining optimum utilization of physical machines. In this paper, we propose a pattern-based prediction model for resource provisioning which facilitates best possible resource preparation by analyzing the resource utilization and deriving resource usage patterns. The focus of our work is on predicting future resource requests by optimized dynamic resource management strategy that is applied to a virtualized data center in a Cloud computing environment. To this end, we build a prediction model that is based on user request patterns and make a prediction of system behavior for the near future. As a result, this model can save time for predicting the needed resource amount and reduce the possibility of resource overuse. In addition, we studied the performance of our proposed model comparing with conventional resource provisioning models under various Cloud execution conditions. The experimental results showed that our pattern-based prediction model gives significant benefits over conventional models.

체면민감성이 허영심과 소비행동에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Social Face Sensitivity on Vanity and Consumption Behavior)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of social face sensitivity on vanity and consumption behavior. Questionnaires were administered to 461 college students living in Deagu Metropolitan City and Kyungbook province. Frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, regression analysis, and t-test were used for data analysis. Social face sensitivity was categorized into consciousness of being embarrassed, social formality, other consciousness and prestigiousness. Vanity factors were found as physical price, achievement concern, achievement price, and physical concern. Consumption behavior were categorized into 5 factors such as ostentatious consumption, impulsive buying, external information search, brand trust, utilization of internet information and material-oriented. Consciousness of being embarrassed, social formality, and other consciousness, the sub-variables of social face sensitivity had significant effects on achievement concerns and physical concerns. Other consciousness of social face sensitivity had significant effects on all factors of consumption behaviors. There was significant differences in the prestige of social face sensitivity and physical concerns of vanity and ostentatious consumption, impulsive buying, and also in external information search and utilization of internet information of consumer behavior. This indicates that women showed high physical concerns for vanity and ostentatious consumption, impulsive buying, external information search and utilization of internet information of consumption behavior while men care more about prestigiousness of social face sensitivity.

영유아 부모의 인터넷 건강정보 추구행동 영향요인 (Factors associated with internet health information seeking behavior of younger children's parents)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 영유아 부모의 인터넷 건강정보 추구행동에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위해 시행되었다. 연구 대상자는 영유아 자녀를 둔 부모 108명을 편의 표집하여 인터넷 건강정보에 대한 태도, e-헬스 리터러시, 인터넷 건강정보 추구행동에 대해 구조화된 설문지로 조사를 하였다. 수집된 자료는 t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, 다중회귀분석으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 지각된 유용성과 정보활용도가 영유아 부모의 인터넷 건강정보 추구행동에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 영유아 부모의 특성과 유용성, 정보 활용도를 고려하여 건강정보를 제공하고 활용을 관리하는 프로그램을 개발하는 것이 필요하다.

패션브랜드의 웹사이트 활용 실태 분석 (Analysis of Web-Site Utilization on Fashion Brands)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the utilization of Fashion Brands Web-site. This analysis was done by 6C Concept(Contents, Community, Commerce, Connection, Customizing, Communication) which was Internet Marketing Strategy. The review of previous studies and empirical investigations through the Internet were processed for this study. 151 fashion brands in department stores in Daegu, Korea were surveyed from January to February 2004. Data were analyzed by using frequency and percentage. Total 105 brands established their Web-Sites of Internet out of 151(69.5%) fashion brands. There were four characters on Contents, six characters on Connection and five characters on Communication. And there were a establishing rate of 38.1 percent on Online Community and 30.5 percent on Online Shopping Mall. On Customizing, 73.3 percent of brands had e-CRM systems.
