  • Requirements for device control networks differ greatly from those of data (business) networks. Consequently, any control network which uses a filedbus protocol is, in general, different from If network protocol TCP/IP. One then needs to integrate both fieldbus protocol and TCP/IP to realize distributed control over IP network or internet. LonWorks technology provides networked intelligent I/O and controllers which make it a powerful, expandable solution. Connecting these remote Lon Works networks to the Internet can provide a powerful, integrated, distributed control system.   • Internet of Things is an infrastructure of the interconnected devices. In Internet of Things environment, many smart devices are used in daily life. It requires a new retrieval method using multiple devices. We propose an information retrieval method using both device characteristics and device usage characteristics in multi-device environments. Firstly, information retrieval is performed using a general purpose device. And then, it is performed using dedicated devices. Our method uses both characteristics of the devices and usage characteristics of them. Moreover, it considers queries on the general purpose device. This paper proposes a new retrieval method and describes algorithms. Then, it presents smart home scenarios. Performance evaluation is performed using the scenarios. The evaluation results show higher precision and efficiency than previous researches. The proposed method gets information more accurately and quickly in IOT multiple device environments.

Video Quality Assessment based on Deep Neural Network

  • This paper proposes two video quality assessment methods based on deep neural network. (i)The first method uses the IQF-CNN (convolution neural network based on image quality features) to build image quality assessment method. The LIVE image database is used to test this method, the experiment show that it is effective. Therefore, this method is extended to the video quality assessment. At first every image frame of video is predicted, next the relationship between different image frames are analyzed by the hysteresis function and different window function to improve the accuracy of video quality assessment. (ii)The second method proposes a video quality assessment method based on convolution neural network (CNN) and gated circular unit network (GRU). First, the spatial features of video frames are extracted using CNN network, next the temporal features of the video frame using GRU network. Finally the extracted temporal and spatial features are analyzed by full connection layer of CNN network to obtain the video quality assessment score. All the above proposed methods are verified on the video databases, and compared with other methods.

  • Wireless wearable sensor networks have emerged as a promising technique for human motion tracking due to the flexibility and scalability. In such system several wireless sensor nodes being attached to human limb construct a wearable sensor network, where each sensor node including MEMS sensors (such as 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis magnetometer and 3-axis gyroscope) monitors the limb orientation and transmits these information to the base station for reconstruction via low-power wireless communication technique. Due to the energy constraint, the high fidelity requirement for real time rendering of human motion and tiny operating system embedded in each sensor node adds more challenges for the system implementation. In this paper, we discuss such challenges and experiences in detail during the implementation of such system with wireless wearable sensor network which includes COTS wireless sensor nodes (Imote 2) and uses TinyOS 1.x in each sensor node. Since our system uses the COTS sensor nodes and popular tiny operating system, it might be helpful for further exploration in such field.

A Component-Based Localization Algorithm for Sparse Sensor Networks Combining Angle and Distance Information

  • Location information of sensor nodes plays a critical role in many wireless sensor network (WSN) applications and protocols. Although many localization algorithms have been proposed in recent years, they usually target at dense networks and perform poorly in sparse networks. In this paper, we propose two component-based localization algorithms that can localize many more nodes in sparse networks than the state-of-the-art solution. We first develop the Basic Common nodes-based Localization Algorithm, namely BCLA, which uses both common nodes and measured distances between adjacent components to merge components. BCLA outperforms CALL, the state-of-the-art component-based localization algorithm that uses only distance measurements to merge components. In order to further improve the performance of BCLA, we further exploit the angular information among nodes to merge components, and propose the Component-based Localization with Angle and Distance information algorithm, namely CLAD. We prove the merging conditions for BCLA and CLAD, and evaluate their performance through extensive simulations. Simulations results show that, CLAD can locate more than 90 percent of nodes in a sparse network with average node degree 7.5, while CALL can locate only 78 percent of nodes in the same scenario.

  • The impact of social networking is varied from good to bad. Online activities have also been categorized into pros and cons of social networking, either as reported as hiding Internet activities among teenagers or killing loneliness among elderly. In terms of relationships, there have been argument over its closeness and quality of an online relationship in Internet settings. Looking at the contradiction in an innovative interaction between classic community communication and social media, there is an unknown scent of the future struggling and challenging both human communication and relationships in the presence of digital culture. This research uses Diffusion of Innovation to study the wide and continuous spread of digital culture in human communication; and, Media Dependency in learning and structuring the cognitive, affective and behavioral effects of social media on each person uses the media in different ways. This research will be using online survey to gain opinions from a social network site as an update of views and reflection of self-awareness to all levels of people. Social media like Facebook (FB) is perceived as a good tool of communication that it is able to bring closeness among the family members. The results show that social media like FB brings positive impact towards family members; it would help to build a better and harmonic society; and, relationships among family members and communication shall be improved and enhanced to the level of a united society.

Data-Hiding for Halftone Images Using an Improved CPT scheme

  • In publishing applications, it is advantageous to embed data in halftone images. The CPT scheme (Chen-Pan-Tseng, 2000) is a steganographic data hiding scheme that was proposed for binary images, e.g., facsimiles. The CPT scheme uses a secret key and weight matrix to protect the hidden data and can hide as many as $r={\lfloor}{\log}_2(m{\times}n+1){\rfloor}$ bits of data in the image by changing at most 2 bits in the image. Our proposed scheme also uses a secret key to protect it from being compromised and a weight matrix to increase the data hiding rate. Our scheme improves the performance of the CPT scheme by using the simple principle of splitting each block into two parts. Our proposed scheme is called improved CPT (ICPT) and has a very high embedding capacity compared to previous schemes. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed scheme generally has higher performance than previous schemes.

Image Completion using Belief Propagation Based on Planar Priorities

  • Automatic image completion techniques have difficulty processing images in which the target region has multiple planes or is non-facade. Here, we propose a new image completion method that uses belief propagation based on planar priorities. We first calculate planar information, which includes planar projection parameters, plane segments, and repetitive regularity extractions within the plane. Next, we convert this planar information into planar guide knowledge using the prior probabilities of patch transforms and offsets. Using the energy of the discrete Markov Random Field (MRF), we then define an objective function for image completion that uses the planar guide knowledge. Finally, in order to effectively optimize the MRF, we propose a new optimization scheme, termed Planar Priority-belief propagation that includes message-scheduling-based planar priority and dynamic label cropping. The results of experiment show that our approach exhibits advanced performance compared with existing approaches.

  • 본 논문에서는 에너지 효율적인 전송과 긴 네트워크 라이프타임을 보장하는 데이터 전송 프로토콜을 소개한다. 잘 알려진 SPIN에 비해 SPMS는 최단경로로 데이터를 전송하기 때문에 전송 시 에너지 효율을 극대화했다. 하지만 최단경로상의 특정 노드를 반복해서 사용함으로써 짧은 네트워크 라이프타임을 가진다. 본 논문에서는 거리와 에너지 잔량의 두 가지 속성을 고려한 ConBED(A protocol Considering Between Energy and Distance) 프로토콜을 제안한다. 시뮬레이션 결과, ConBED는 에너지 효율적인 전송을 보장하며 SPMS에 비해 네트워크 라이프 타임이 6% 증가한 것을 보여준다.

  • 최근 스마트폰을 가지고 있는 사람이 증가하고 있는 추세이며 이에 대한 다양한 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 이러한 상황에서 센서기술과 스마트폰의 융합으로 다양한 기능을 제공한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 시스템은 컨트롤러에서 3축가속도센서를 통한 사용자의 움직임에 대한 가속도정보를 추출하며 이 가속도 정보를 블루투스를 통하여 스마트폰에 전송한다. 기존의 스마트폰에서 사용되던 터치입력이나 버튼입력방식이 아닌 동작에 따른 3축 가속도센서를 이용한 입력방식이므로 언제 어디서든 스마트폰을 직접 만지지 않아도 컨트롤이 가능하다. 또한 다양한 기능성 애플리케이션의 개발로 인하여 활용도가 매우 높다.
