  • Using data from the 2001 Computer and Internet Use Survey by the National Statistical Office, this study investigated digital divide among women aged between 20 and 55. Following were the major findings. first, two-thirds of women did not use Internet even though many of these had Internet access at home. Second, those who did not have Internet access at home, those with a lower level of educational attainment, those with blue color or service occupations, and those with higher age were less likely to use Internet than their counterparts in these socio-economic variables. Third, expanding Internet infrastructure would not improve Internet use of the Elderly. Forth, the majority of those who did not use Internet did not recognize the Internet itself. Based on the result the policy implications for digital divide were suggested.

The survey was conducted to 520 students from middle and high schools on Jeju and analyzed catmod Regression. model was used to analyse the efficients of the independent variables on the three groups according to Internet addiction level. The major results of this study are as follows; First, By the viewpoint of Young's criteria, it revealed that most young people(68.5 %) use the internet at the level of occasional problem-solution users. The percentage two groups of average on-line users and internet addicts were 27.3% and 4.2%, respectively. Second, the variables having significant effects on the of internet addiction group are gender, the number of brothers, adaptation to school life, mother's age, and family control of internet use. Third, the variables which have a significant effect on the of average internet users group referred to internet addicts group are gender, adaptation to school life, satisfaction with family life, average monthly household income, and the number of visits to private computer establishments.

  • In this paper we applied our previously developed assessment framework to the data collected from an internet security readiness survey targeted at households. We used the assessment framework to compute an Internet Security Readiness index for each household, which was in turn derived from Internet Security Readiness capital, skill, and actual uptake/use of infrastructure indices. We then examined the relationships among overall Internet Security Readiness, and the capital, skill, and actual uptake/use of infrastructure related to Internet Security Readiness. In addition, we explored the influence of Internet usage level and experience on Internet Security Readiness.

  • This paper depicts a study conducted on the behavior of physical education students towards Internet usage at Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. Specially, the study aims to know the purposes for use of Internet resources and services, frequency of use, places and means of use, student's satisfaction level toward the Internet, and problems faced while using the Internet. A survey was carried out with a sample of 100 physical education students of Kurukshetra University and the response rate was 88%. A well-designed questionnaire was distributed to the students' sample. Amazingly, the results of the study reveal that usage of the Internet in research and education was not favored, whereas email, chatting, and sports websites were commonly used among students. The study also found that too much information on the Internet, slow access speeds, and finding relevant information were the main problems in using the Internet.

  • The research on optimization of cellular network's energy efficiency (EE) towards environmental and economic sustainability has attracted increasing attention recently. In this survey, we discuss the opportunities, trends and challenges of this challenging topic. Two major contributions are presented namely 1) survey of proposed energy efficiency metrics; 2) survey of proposed energy efficient solutions. We provide a broad overview of the state of-the-art energy efficient methods covering base station (BS) hardware design, network planning and deployment, and network management and operation stages. In order to further understand how EE is assessed and improved through the heterogeneous network (HetNet), BS's energy-awareness and several typical HetNet deployment scenarios such as macrocell-microcell and macrocell-picocell are presented. The analysis of different HetNet deployment scenarios gives insights towards a successful deployment of energy efficient cellular networks.

  • The smart factory promotion project is a project that improves the entire management environment system, including the production process, using ICT technology. According to the 2019 Smart Factory Survey and Analysis Research Report of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, small and medium-sized enterprises that introduced smart factories reported positive effects such as increased productivity, improved quality, and reduced costs on average. On the other hand, the survey results of companies that promoted the project despite positive results showed that there was room for improvement. This study dealt with the contents of the survey conducted on companies by the smart factory promotion agency in 2020 regarding the infrastructure configuration for promoting smart factories. We examined the meaningful contents implied by the data related to the infrastructure configuration. These meaningful survey results can lead to more efficient business promotion in the future when promoting smart factory projects.

  • Objectives : This study investigated the health information such as the general health information, the health product information, and the hospital information, and we wanted to identify the association between internet health information and the health related behavior by analyzing the process after people search the Internet. Methods : A telephone survey with structured questionnaire was performed by trained surveyors. The respondents were sampled proportionate to the Korean demographic distribution with considering the city size and the populations' ages and gender. The survey was conducted from October 2006 to November 2006. Results : Out of 3,758 successfully connected persons of age 20 or more, 871(23.2%) respondents had used Internet health information during the last year. The purposes of searching the Internet for health was, 1) to get general health information (717 cases, 81.0%), 2) shopping for health product (109 cases, 12.3%) and 3) seeking information about hospital selection (59 cases, 6.7%). Our research showed that the process after searching the Internet for health information depends on the purpose of the search. 68.8% of the searchers for general health information, 67% of the searchers for health product shopping and 64.4% of the searchers seeking information to guide hospital selection were satisfied with their Internet search. However one third of the respondents reported not being satisfied with the result of the search. Conclusions : Unsatisfied consumers with internet health information tended to ask lay referrals from others or they gave up seeking health information. The health information system should be improved to increase the accessibility and to provide reliable and effective information. Also, a more user-centric community is needed in order to strengthen the effective role of lay referrals among the internet users.
