EEG기반 언어 인식 시스템을 위한 국제음성기호를 이용한 모음 특징 추출 연구 (EEG based Vowel Feature Extraction for Speech Recognition System using International Phonetic Alphabet)

  • 인간과 기계를 연결하는 새로운 인터페이스인 Brain-computer interface (BCI)를 이용해 휠체어를 제어하거나 단어를 입력하는 등, 사용자를 위한 다양한 장치를 개발하는 연구들이 진행되어 왔다. 특히 최근에는 뇌파를 이용한 음성인식을 구현하고 이를 통해 무음통신 등에 적용하려는 시도들이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 연구의 일환으로 electroencephalogram (EEG) 기반의 언어 인식 시스템을 개발하기 위한 기초 단계로서, 국제음성기호에 기반을 둔 모음들의 특징을 추출하는 방법에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 실험은 건장한 세 명의 남성 피험자를 대상으로 진행되었으며, 한 개의 모음을 제시하는 첫 번째 실험 과정과 두 개의 연속된 모음을 제시하는 두 번째 실험 과정으로 두 단계에 나누어서 실험이 진행되었다. 습득된 64개의 채널중 선택적으로 32개의 채널만을 사용해 특징을 추출하였으며, 사고 활동과 관련된 전두엽과 언어활동에 관련된 측두엽을 기준으로 영역을 선택하였다. 알고리즘 적용을 위해서 특징으로는 신호의 고유 값을 사용하였고, support vector machine (SVM)을 이용하여 분류를 수행하였다. 실험 결과, 첫 번째 단계의 실험을 통해서, 언어의 뇌파를 분석하기 위해서는 10차원 이상의 특징 벡터를 사용해야 됨을 알게 되었고, 11차원의 특징 벡터를 사용할 경우, 평균분류율은 최고 95.63 %로 /a/와 /o/를 분류할 때 나타났고, 가장 낮은 분류율을 보이는 모음은 /a/와 /u/로 86.85 %였다. 두 번째 단계의 실험에서는 두 개 이상의 모음을 발음하는 것이 단일 모음 발음과 어떤 차이가 있는지 확인해 보았다.

  • This paper preliminary discussed the important function and faced problems of suburb green space during the process of urban development. As well as it points out the contradiction of protection and making use of. In this paper it takes the green space system planning in Wuxi as an example. Through introducing the classification, distribution, arrangement principles, overall arrangement tactics and concrete protective measures of suburb green space in Wuxi, the paper also puts forward the correct disposal principles for the relationship between protection and making use of toward the suburb green space to realize 'both-win' of them.

  • Usually the status of a bridge is determined by its structural capability and material strength. Consequently a lot of researchers have studied the failure, the fatigue, and the deterioration of the structure in terms of the structural function of a bridge. However, the overall performance of a bridge may be affected simply by the damage of one of its components. Therefore this study utilized a systematic classification and statistical analysis based on the existing bridge inspection data collected in Taiwan to reach the following goals: (1) assess the performance distribution and deterioration rate for bearing and expansion joint of bridge; (2) find out the right time to do the preventive and essential maintenance for the component of bridge with an empirical method, and to decide what time and which component of a bridge will receive preventive maintenance or regular maintenance.

  • The waveforms of partial discharges (PDs) imply physical and structural properties of PD sources, so analyzing them give us information on the kind of PD sources and the location. Waveforms of PD as a time series function have variable amplitudes but sustain a certain uniform shape, which shows well the characteristics of the waveforms and frequency region. They can also be used as parameters having time and frequency information of PD signals and applied to classification of multiple PDs sources via Artificial Neural Network with back propagation (BP) learning.

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of the functions of GMFM and ICF-CY on the activities and participation of ICF-CY sub-items. Design: Cross-sectional study. Method: This study compared and analyzed 95 children with cerebral palsy [type of CP: spasticity 86 (90.5%), hypotonia 4 (4.2%), mixed 5 (5.3%); type of palsy: quadriplegia 13 (13.7%), diplegia 71 (74.7%), hemiplegia 11 (11.6%)] using sub-items of functions, activities and participation from GMFM and ICF-CY. Result: The results show that the activities and participation of ICF-CY (9 sub-items) have significant effect on the functions of GMFM and ICF-CY (8 sub-items) (p<0.05). Conclusion: It is intended to provide data to establish practical therapeutic goals and interventions for functions, activities and participation, which are sub-categories of ICF-CY in cerebral palsy.

Assessment of the Influence of Physical Impairments on Activities in Persons With Stroke

  • The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between physical impairments and daily activities on the basis of the outcome measurements in stroke patients. Seventy-six stroke patients participated in this study. Two physical therapists evaluated 3 clinical common measurements, i.e., the Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA), the Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and the Functional Independence Measure (FIM). Multiple regression analysis was used, as the dependent variables were the BBS and FIM; the independent variables were post-stroke duration, FMA of Upper Extremity (FMU), and FMA of Lower Extremity (FML). In the regression equation of the BBS, the coefficient of determination ($R^2$) was .383, and the FML was found to be the most important variable for determining the BBS score. In the regression equation of the FIM, $R^2$ was .531, and the FML was found to be the most important variable for determining the FIM. These results suggest that there is a need to determine the function of activities on the basis of the physical impairments of stroke patients. More variable measurement tools on the levels of body function and structure, as well as activity limitations are required.

  • The Purpose of this study was to take the right direction and meet the requirements of newspaper function about child health through evaluation of child health information articles in newspapers. Data were collected 4 main daily newspaper by selecting child health information articles during 1 year from January 1 to December 31, 1998. The results of this study are as follows. The frequency according to health category, disease treatment(47 7%) topped followed by health maintenanceㆍpromotion(28.8%). growthㆍdevelopment(12.1%), disease Prevention(11.4%). The frequency according to WHO international disease classification, infectious disease (23.6%) take most. In evaluation area of child health information, practical usage(3.78) topped followed by accuracy(3.68), comprehensiveness(3.64), clearness (3.48), concreteness(3.33).

Beta and Alpha Regularizers of Mish Activation Functions for Machine Learning Applications in Deep Neural Networks

  • A very complex task in deep learning such as image classification must be solved with the help of neural networks and activation functions. The backpropagation algorithm advances backward from the output layer towards the input layer, the gradients often get smaller and smaller and approach zero which eventually leaves the weights of the initial or lower layers nearly unchanged, as a result, the gradient descent never converges to the optimum. We propose a two-factor non-saturating activation functions known as Bea-Mish for machine learning applications in deep neural networks. Our method uses two factors, beta (𝛽) and alpha (𝛼), to normalize the area below the boundary in the Mish activation function and we regard these elements as Bea. Bea-Mish provide a clear understanding of the behaviors and conditions governing this regularization term can lead to a more principled approach for constructing better performing activation functions. We evaluate Bea-Mish results against Mish and Swish activation functions in various models and data sets. Empirical results show that our approach (Bea-Mish) outperforms native Mish using SqueezeNet backbone with an average precision (AP50val) of 2.51% in CIFAR-10 and top-1accuracy in ResNet-50 on ImageNet-1k. shows an improvement of 1.20%.

ICHPPC에 의(依)한 학생(學生)들이 건강문제(健康問題) 분류(分類)에 관(關)한 연구 (A study of Status of Students' Health Problems by ICHPPC Method)

  • This study was conducted for the development of recording system of students' health problems, and for the application of International Classification of Health Problem in Primary Care(ICHPPC) as a tool of morbidity classification in school health care. The data were collected from 12th of September to 24th of September in 1988. The objects were composed of health problems written by 10 school nurses who take service in the elementary school. The results were as follows: 1. The features of students' health problmes. The health problems of students were 68 problems from the total numbers of 361 codes of ICHPPC. The 93.4% of health problems was contained in 20 descriptive diagnoses and 97.0% was contained in 30 descriptive diagnoses. According to frequency of main health problems, There were abrasion, scratch and blister(26.7%); disorder of stomach function, other disease of stomach and duodenum (20.4%); headache(10.6%); bruise and contusion (5.3%); acute URI (5.0%); laceration and open wound(4.6%); Insect bite and sting(4.0%); epistaxis(3.4%): abdominal pain(2.6%): superficial tissue(1.7%). Out of all health problems, Category 17(accident, injury and poisoning was 44.7%. and Category 9(digestive system Disease) was 22.2%. 2. Applicability of ICHPPC by the school nurses. School nurses used 68 codes, among the total number of 361 codes from ICHPPC. According to ICHPPC method, school nurses can classified more diverse health problems systematically and objectively than that in other studies on school nurses activities. ICHPPC was found as a useful and applicable tool of morbidity classification in the practice of school nurses.

Comparative Study on Themes of Research Papers on the Research Trends of Parks and Green Spaces in Japan and Korea

  • The objective of our research was an international comparison focusing on studies conducted on parks and green spaces undertaken in Japan and Korea. We also aim to clarify the similarities and differences between the two countries and consider the key features of the researches on the field of landscape architecture. We compared the recent trends of Japanese institute with Korean observed in the theme of research papers adopt title of them. The research period spanned approximately twenty years, from 1980 to 2003. We employed the Table of Contents information search system to research academic journal articles and to select the journals that included articles with the key words [park(s)] or [green space(s)] in their title. We chronologically arranged the journals for each country, based on the total number of journals and classification categories. We then conducted a comparative examination among the two countries. We also contributed information on the circumstances behind the formulation or amendment of some policies and laws and we checked the results against the research trend. Among the selected journals, the number of papers was the highest by the Institute of Landscape Architecture. But the reason for increase of the number of papers on green spaces in Japanese journals was not published by the Institute of Landscape Architecture but by the City Planning Institute and the Architecture Institute. In Japan, the papers on parks categorized under historical study were the highest among all categories. On the other hand, in Korean journals, papers on parks categorized under historical study were few. A similar trend was recognized in papers on green spaces. Every society is concerned with the study of function and effect. However, some exact differences have been observed by category classification. In Japan, the percentage of function and effect papers on parks was less than those on green spaces. In Korea, both percentages for these groups were high. The category of system and policy accounted for $17\%$ of the papers on green spaces in Korea. This result was higher than the number of papers on green spaces and parks in Japan and parks in Korea. Recently, the number of papers focusing on large-scale green space system has decreased in Japan. The trend in the study of parks and green spaces on a regional scale or at an individual level will be closely monitored. Systems and modeling studies have been focusing in Korea. The understanding between the administration and the citizens was peculiar to each country.
