Distance Sensitive AdaBoost using Distance Weight Function

  • This paper proposes a new method to improve performance of AdaBoost by using a distance weight function to increase the accuracy of its machine learning processes. The proposed distance weight algorithm improves classification in areas where the original binary classifier is weak. This paper derives the new algorithm's optimal solution, and it demonstrates how classifier accuracy can be improved using the proposed Distance Sensitive AdaBoost in a simulation experiment of pedestrian detection.

Finding Fuzzy Rules for IRIS by Neural Network with Weighted Fuzzy Membership Function

  • Fuzzy neural networks have been successfully applied to analyze/generate predictive rules for medical or diagnostic data. However, most approaches proposed so far have not considered the weights for the membership functions much. This paper presents a neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions. In our approach, the membership functions can capture the concentrated and essential information that affects the classification of the input patterns. To verify the performance of the proposed model, well-known Iris data set is performed. According to the results, the weighted membership functions enhance the prediction accuracy. The architecture of the proposed neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions and the details of experimental results for the data set is discussed in this paper.

단어패턴 빈도를 이용한 단문 오피니언 문서 분류기법의 실험적 평가 (An Experimental Evaluation of Short Opinion Document Classification Using A Word Pattern Frequency)

  • 데이터 마이닝의 문서분류 기술에서 발전된 오피니언 마이닝은 이제 국외뿐만 아니라 국내 산업에서 중요한 관심분야로 자리잡아가고 있다. 오피니언 마이닝의 핵심은 문서에서 감정 단어를 추출하여 긍정/부정 여부를 얼마나 정확하게 판별하느냐를 평가하는 것이다. 국내에서도 이에 관련된 많은 연구가 이루어 졌으나 아직 실용적으로 적용할 만큼의 분류 정확도를 보이지 않고 있다. 한국어의 경우 비문법적 표현, 감정단어의 다양성 등으로 인해 문서의 극성을 판별하기가 쉽지 않기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 문법적 요소를 최대한 배제하고 단어패턴의 빈도만을 고려한 새로운 오피니언 문서 분류기법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 문서를 단어들의 리스트로 추상화한 후, 패턴들의 빈도를 이용하여 기계학습 알고리즘을 적용한다. 이후에 적절한 스코어 함수를 적용하여 문서의 극성을 판별한다. 또한 제안된 기법의 정확도를 평가하기 위해서 실험결과를 제시한다.

The detection of cavitation in hydraulic machines by use of ultrasonic signal analysis

  • This presentation describes an experimental approach for the detection of cavitation in hydraulic machines by use of ultrasonic signal analysis. Instead of using the high frequency pulses (typically 1MHz) only for transit time measurement different other signal characteristics are extracted from the individual signals and its correlation function with reference signals in order to gain knowledge of the water conditions. As the pulse repetition rate is high (typically 100Hz), statistical parameters can be extracted of the signals. The idea is to find patterns in the parameters by a classifier that can distinguish between the different water states. This classification scheme has been applied to different cavitation sections: a sphere in a water flow in circular tube at the HSLU in Lucerne, a NACA profile in a cavitation tunnel and two Francis model test turbines all at LMH in Lausanne. From the signal raw data several statistical parameters in the time and frequency domain as well as from the correlation function with reference signals have been determined. As classifiers two methods were used: neural feed forward networks and decision trees. For both classification methods realizations with lowest complexity as possible are of special interest. It is shown that two to three signal characteristics, two from the signal itself and one from the correlation function are in many cases sufficient for the detection capability. The final goal is to combine these results with operating point, vibration, acoustic emission and dynamic pressure information such that a distinction between dangerous and not dangerous cavitation is possible.

뇌성마비, 다운증후군, 일반 아동의 ICF-CY와 삶의 질 연구 (A Comparison of the ICF-CY and Quality of Life among Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and Typically Developing Children)

  • 본 연구는 뇌성마비, 다운증후군, 일반 아동의 ICF-CY (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health-Version for Children and Youth)의 기능, 활동과 참여, 삶의 질을 측정하여 세 집단 간의 차이를 비교 분석하고자 실시하였다. 4~12세의 뇌성마비, 다운증후군 아동, 일반 아동을 대상으로 ICF-CY 체크리스트, 삶의 질 설문지를 통해 아동의 ICF-CY와 삶의 질을 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 뇌성마비 아동, 다운증후군 아동, 일반 아동 세 그룹 간에 ICF-CY 기능은 비뇨생식기와 생식기능 항목을 제외하고 모든 부분에서 유의한 차이가 나타났고(p<.05), ICF-CY 활동과 참여에서는 모든 항목에서 유의한 차이가 나타났으며(p<.05), 사후 분석에서 이동 항목을 제외하고, 일반 아동, 뇌성마비 아동, 다운 증후군 아동 순으로 높은 활동과 참여를 보였다. 삶의 질은 괴롭힘 항목을 제외하고 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<.05). 뇌성마비 아동, 다운증후군 아동은 일반 아동 보다 낮은 삶의 질을 보였다. 이상의 결과를 볼 때, 활동과 참여 및 삶의 질은 세 그룹 간의 유의한 차이가 있었고, 일반 아동, 뇌성마비 아동, 다운증후군 아동 순으로 기능, 활동과 참여 및 삶의 질이 높음을 알 수 있었다.

뇌졸중 환자에게 적용한 로봇보행 재활훈련의 효과: 메타분석 (The Effects of Robot-Assisted Gait Training for the Patient With Post Stroke: A Meta-Analysis)

  • Robot-assisted rehabilitation therapy has been used to increase physical function in post-stroke patients. The aim of this meta-analysis was to identify whether robot-assisted gait training can improve patients' functional abilities. A comprehensive search was performed of PubMed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), Academic Search Premier (ASP), ScienceDirect, Korean Studies Information Service System (KISS), Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), Korea National Library, and the Korean Medical Database up to April, 2014. Fifteen eligible studies researched the effects of robot-assisted gait training to a control group. All outcome measures were classified by International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) domains (body function and structures, activity, and participation) and were pooled for calculating the effect size. The overall effect size of the robot-assisted gait training was .356 [95% confidence interval (CI): .186~.526]. When the effect was compared by the type of electromechanical robot, Gait Trainer (GT) (.471, 95% CI: .320~.621) showed more effective than Lokomat (.169, 95% CI: .063~.275). In addition, acute stroke patients showed more improvement than others. Although robot-assisted gait training may improve function, but there is no scientific evidence about the appropriate treatment time for one session or the appropriate duration of treatment. Additional researchers are needed to include more well-designed trials in order to resolve these uncertainties.

단축형 ICF 핵심지표로 측정한 뇌졸중 환자의 기능상태 (Assessing the Functional Status of Acute Stroke Patients using ICF Core Set-short Form)

  • Purpose: The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) model was proposed by the World Health Organization for enhancing interdisciplinary communication. The purpose of this study was to examine the functional status of acute stroke patients using ICF core sets-short form. Methods: A set of 15 ICF items on functional status was used by nurses for their daily nursing assessment on functional status in 44 acute stroke patients in a university hospital. Results: The highest level of function was "consciousness", while the lowest was "defecation". Compared with functional status on the first day, consciousness, ingestion, language (mental), and defecation functions were significantly improved on the 14th day. However, there was no significant changes in items on activity and participation or environmental functions. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the function-specific nursing interventions for acute stroke patients need to be developed. Future research needs to test the usefulness of ICF items as an measurement tool.

RBF 커널과 다중 클래스 SVM을 이용한 생리적 반응 기반 감정 인식 기술 (Physiological Responses-Based Emotion Recognition Using Multi-Class SVM with RBF Kernel)

  • Emotion Recognition is one of the important part to develop in human-human and human computer interaction. In this paper, we have focused on the performance of multi-class SVM (Support Vector Machine) with Gaussian RFB (Radial Basis function) kernel, which has been used to solve the problem of emotion recognition from physiological signals and to improve the accuracy of emotion recognition. The experimental paradigm for data acquisition, visual-stimuli of IAPS (International Affective Picture System) are used to induce emotional states, such as fear, disgust, joy, and neutral for each subject. The raw signals of acquisited data are splitted in the trial from each session to pre-process the data. The mean value and standard deviation are employed to extract the data for feature extraction and preparing in the next step of classification. The experimental results are proving that the proposed approach of multi-class SVM with Gaussian RBF kernel with OVO (One-Versus-One) method provided the successful performance, accuracies of classification, which has been performed over these four emotions.

Identification of Viral Taxon-Specific Genes (VTSG): Application to Caliciviridae

  • Virus taxonomy was initially determined by clinical experiments based on phenotype. However, with the development of sequence analysis methods, genotype-based classification was also applied. With the development of genome sequence analysis technology, there is an increasing demand for virus taxonomy to be extended from in vivo and in vitro to in silico. In this study, we verified the consistency of the current International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses taxonomy using an in silico approach, aiming to identify the specific sequence for each virus. We applied this approach to norovirus in Caliciviridae, which causes 90% of gastroenteritis cases worldwide. First, based on the dogma "protein structure determines its function," we hypothesized that the specific sequence can be identified by the specific structure. Firstly, we extracted the coding region (CDS). Secondly, the CDS protein sequences of each genus were annotated by the conserved domain database (CDD) search. Finally, the conserved domains of each genus in Caliciviridae are classified by RPS-BLAST with CDD. The analysis result is that Caliciviridae has sequences including RNA helicase in common. In case of Norovirus, Calicivirus coat protein C terminal and viral polyprotein N-terminal appears as a specific domain in Caliciviridae. It does not include in the other genera in Caliciviridae. If this method is utilized to detect specific conserved domains, it can be used as classification keywords based on protein functional structure. After determining the specific protein domains, the specific protein domain sequences would be converted to gene sequences. This sequences would be re-used one of viral bio-marks.

귀금속.보석 상품정보 온톨로지 구축에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Ontology based on the Jewelry Brand Information)

  • 본 연구에서는 웹 문서에서의 단순 키워드 매칭으로 검색하는 전자상거래시스템의 문제점을 해결하기 위한 방안으로 도메인 온톨로지를 자동으로 생성하고 이를 기반으로 지능형 에이전트기술을 접목함으로서 의사소통이 단일화된 상품검색시스템을 개발한다. 온톨로지 개발은 국제상품분류코드(UNSPSC)와 귀금속 보석 사이트들의 분류정보를 기반으로 대표용어를 추출하고 유사관계 시소러스 적용하여 표준화된 온톨로지를 구축하며 지능형에이전트 기술을 검색 단계에서 접목시켜 사용자에게 정보수집의 효율성을 지원하도록 시맨틱 웹을 지원하는 상거래 시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 또한 개인화된 검색 환경을 지원하기 위해 사용자 프로파일을 설계하고, 개인화 검색 에이전트와 추론기능을 이용한 검색 환경을 제공함으로서 정보수집의 신속성과 정확한 정보검색이 가능하도록 지원한다.
