  • As the activities of global enterprises have become more globalized and the labor movement among nations has increased, many studies have been carried out on the effective adjustment of expatriate managers. By examining the literature over the past 30 years on the adjustment of expatriate managers, this study identified major research trends and presented future research directions. While prior studies have often been cumbersome, time-consuming, and dependent on the researchers' subjective judgments, this study performs a bibliometric analysis using quantitative and visualized reference materials to provide a map showing the evolution process of existing research on the adjustment of expatriates. Using the CiteSpace program, this study conducted a bibliometric analysis of 517 papers focusing on major research trends, research countries, research institutions, authors, and journals. Study results found that the study of international adjustment was mainly focused on self-directed senders, attribution adaptations, and personal characteristics. The United States, Britain, and Australia were the most represented countries, while the most influential institutions included Aarhus University, the University of Wisconsin, and Hong Kong Baptist University. As one of the leading researchers, Selmer of Orhuss University published 19 papers, followed by Luring of Orhuss University. The Journal of International Business Studies (JIBs) most frequently featured studies of overseas expatriate adjustment.

  • Recently, knowledge management and E-business are very important issues in academic and business fields. Research questions related with these issues are which factors stimulate knowledge management. Another question is whether knowledge management is related to E-business. To answer these questions a research model was proposed. The data were collected from 90 manufacturing firms in Korea. Appropriate research methodologies were employed for analysis. Results found that the degree of firm's internalization, diversity of domestic management activities and learning orientation affect knowledge aquisition and transfer. Knowledge aquisition and transfer facilitate knowledge application, resulting in new product development, cost reduction and technology differentiation. Knowledge management is a kind of process. This result, therefore, confirms what previous literature predicted.

  • Research relevant to the electronic commerce tends to either overestimate or underrate the role of Information and Communication Technology (lCT). There is both technological skepticism within the social science circles and technical optimism within the engineering and computing field. Each perspective seems to have a limitation in adequately explaining the phenomenon of electronic commerce diffusion. Therefore, this research attempts to explore major characteristics of Web-based shopping systems as enablers of new business, concerning both the technical and business aspects in contemporary electronic commerce settings. On this basis, this paper addresses a configuration model of WBSS on the harmonious perspective concerning both the technical and business issues. It is our hope that both technical perspective and business perspective for exploring WBSS's configuration model presented in this paper can be an initial step towards a more balanced debate of ICT role, for electronic commerce.

In addition, the study confirmed that two-third of the sample (Chinese undergraduate business students) had taken cross-cultural management courses. • B2B transaction was expected to dominate in the global market and thus many e-marketplaces have been built since 1999 in Korea. However, only a few e-marketplaces are thriving and the future of B2B e-marketplaces except MRO area seem to be uncertain. This paper explores why B2B transactions only in MRO area are rapidly increasing and examines the competing structure and business models of MRO e-marketplace. Business models of MRO e-marketplaces are various among different countries. However, they can be classified as three business models:information portal model, purchasing agent model, open market model. It is not easy to answer which business model is most competitive because each models have their own advantages and functions. Information portal model can be easily applied for the e-marketplace which operates off-line enterprises. Purchasing agent model is favorable to the e-marketplaces which has already obtained buyers and sellers. Open market model is desirable to the e-marketplace which has excess to global market.
