  • In this study, we performed numerical analysis for 1 kWe SOFC stack of internal manifold types according to the different manifold sizes to verify the influence of the flow uniformity into each cell. To simulate the flow phenomena in the stack, the continuity and momentum conservation equations including the standard k-𝜺 turbulent model for the steady-state conditions were applied. From the calculation results, we verified that the pressure drop from inlet pipes to outlet pipes decreased to a log scale as the manifold size increased in the internal manifold types. Also, we found that the flow uniformity increased on an exponential scale as the manifold size increased. In addition, the calculation results showed that the flow uniformity gradually improved as the fuel and oxygen utilization increased.

  • The composite electric oven is one of the fixing utensil, various functions are required. Steam generating function, which is one of its functions, and allows various food cooking. The location of the outlet of the steam generator is designed around ease of installation, consideration of internal fluid is not. Distribution of the steam can not be non-uniformly. Accordingly, cooking time becomes longer, the energy consumption increases. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed stagnation phenomenon of the internal flow through the interpretation of the calculations for the position of the outlet of the steam generator existing. Further, by computing the analysis of various locations of the outlet of the steam generator, we investigated the distribution and characteristics of the internal flow.

고속도로 유형별 교통류 모형 정산 (A Calibration of the fundamental Diagram on the Type of Expressway)

  • PURPOSES: Used in transportation planning and traffic engineering, almost traffic simulation tools have input variable values optimized by overseas traffic flow attribution because they are almost developed in overseas country. Thus, model calibration appropriated for internal traffic flow attribution is needed to improve reliability of simulation method. METHODS : In this study, the traffic flow model calibration is based on expressways. For model calibration, it needs to define each expressway link according to attribution, thus it is classified by design speed, geometric conditions and number of lanes. And modified greenshield model is used as traffic flow model. RESULTS : The result of the traffic model calibration indicates that internal congested density is lower than overseas. And the result of analysis according to the link attribution indicates that the more design speed and number of lanes increase, the lower the minimum speed, the higher the congested density. CONCLUSIONS: In the traffic simulation tool developed in overseas, the traffic flow is different as design speed and number of lanes, but road segment don't affect traffic flow. Therefore, these results need to apply reasonably to internal traffic simulation method.

  • A numerical simulation was performed to investigate the internal flow characteristics in gas turbine nozzle by the variation of flow area of the nozzle. In general the area of turbine nozzle is chosen by the most substantial factor on performance improvement of turbine at the first stage. In the performances test through CFD analysis for three types of nozzle with conventional, enlarged and reduced area, reduced one with effective flow area (EFA) was the most efficient. That is the minimum effective value within EFA limit defined by the manual of technical order had a good performance. It is useful to avoid the low power problem in the test of performance after maintenance and overhaul of turbine engine.

  • This study is aimed to develop a new type of micro cross-flow hydro turbine which has very simple structure and relatively high efficiency. Micro eco cross-flow hydro turbine (ECFT) is proposed to apply in the ranges of very low and middle specific speeds in order to extend the operational range of the turbine. In order to not only obtain a basic data for a new design method of ECFT but also improve the turbine efficiency, experiments and CFD analysis on the performance and internal flow characteristics of the turbine model are conducted. According to the present study results, anti-recirculation block (ARB) and relatively wide turbine width with high flow rate improve the turbine efficiency.

허브 형상에 따른 정풍량 환기팬의 유동과 성능특성 (Flow Behavior and Performance Characteristics of Constant Air Volume Fan According to Different Hub Shape)

  • The constant air volume flow fan can maintain constant flow rate to the wide range of exit pressure. Therefore, the use of this fan is increasing recently for ventilation of high building. Brushless DC motor is adopted to this fan because that has advantages of compactness and performance. But this type of motor protrude from impeller hub side to fan inlet. The Impeller inlet flow is influenced by size of this obstacle called hub. In this paper, the influence of hub shape on the fan performance characteristics are experimentally and numerically analyzed. CFX 12.0 is used to perform the fan internal flow analysis and numerical results are compared with the experiments. Depending on hub shape, internal loss is generated and the performance and efficiency are reduced. The best performance is occurred around $h/b_1$ = 0.25. The results of this study will be contribute to initial design of constant air volume flow fan development.

  • In order to study the heat transfer and pressure drop of an internal heat exchanger for $CO_2$ heat pump under cooling condition, the experiment and numerical analysis were performed. Four kinds of internal heat exchangers with a coaxial tube type and a micro-channel tube type were used. The experimental apparatus consisted of a test section, a power supply, a heater, a chiller, a mass flow meter, a pump and a measurement system. The section-by-section method and Hardy-Cross method were used for the numerical analysis. The effects of the internal heat exchanger refrigerant flow rate, the length of the internal heat exchanger, the operating condition of the gas-cooler, the evaporator and the type of the internal heat exchangers were investigated. With increasing of the flow rate, the heat transfer rate increased about 25%. The heat transfer rate of the micro-channel tube type was higher about 100% than that of the coaxial tube type. With increasing of the length of the internal heat exchanger, the heat transfer rate increased about $20{\sim}50%$. The pressure drop of the low-side tube was larger compared with that of the high-side tube.

  • A internal lobe pump is suitable for oil hydraulics of machine tools, automotive engines, compressors, constructions and other various applications. In particular, the pump is an essential machine element of an automotive engine to feed lubricant oil. The subject of this paper is the theoretical analysis of internal lobe pump whose the main components are the rotors: usually the outer one is characterized by lobe with elliptical and involute shapes, while the inner rotor profile is determined as conjugate to the other. And the integrated system which is composed of three main modules has been developed through AutoLISP under AutoCAD circumstance. It generates new lobe profile and calculates automatically the flow rate and flow rate irregularity according to the lobe profile generated. Results obtained from the analysis enable the designer and manufacturer of oil pump to be more efficient in this field.

  • In the Francis turbine, the leakage flow through the runner gaps which are between the runner and the stator structure influences the internal flow and hydraulic performance. Thus, the investigation for the flow characteristics induced by the runner gaps is important. However, the runner gaps are often disregarded by considering the time and cost of the numerical analysis. Therefore, in this study, the flow characteristics according to runner gaps of the Francis turbine model were investigated including the leakage flow of the runner cone. The three-dimensional unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes analyses were conducted using a scale-adaptive simulation shear stress transport as a turbulence model for observing the influence of the leakage flow on the internal flow and hydraulic performance. The efficiencies were decreased slightly with runner gaps; and the complicated flows were captured in the gaps.
