Flux Linkages Ratio-Based Transformer Protection (쇄교자속비를 이용한 변압기 보호)

  • This paper describes a transformer protective relaying algorithm based on the ratio of increments of flux linkages (RIFL) of the primary and secondary windings. The algorithm uses integration approximation. The RIFL is equal to the turns ratio for all operating conditions except for an internal fault. For a single-phase transformer and a Y-Y transformer, the increments of flux linkages (IFL) are calculated. For a Y-$\Delta$ transformer, the difference of IFL are calculated to use the line currents rather than the delta winding currents, which are unavailable. Their ratios are compared with the turns ratio. The comparative study between the proposed and conventional differentiation approximation methods was conducted. The test results show that the algorithm reduces the approximation errors of the conventional methods.

  • As the average usage period of transformers increases, it is becoming increasingly necessary to know the internal condition of transformers. It is therefore critically important to establish monitoring and diagnostic techniques that can perform transformer condition assessment. Frequency response analysis, generally known as FRA, is one of the technologies to diagnose transformers. Using case studies, this paper presents the effectiveness of FRA as measurements for detecting transformer failures. This paper introduces the fact that FRA waveforms have useful information about diagnosis of failure on core earths and winding shield, and that the condition outside transformers can affect frequency response characteristics.

  • This paper describes a percentage current differential relaying algorithm for bus protection blocked by a CT saturation detection algorithm. The detection algorithm blocks the output of a current differential relay only if a differential current is caused by CT saturation in the case of an external fault. Moreover, if a current differential relay operates faster than the detection algorithm, the blocking signal is not ignited. On the other hand. if the detection algorithm operates faster than a current differential relay, the output of the relay is blocked. The results of the simulation show that the proposed algorithm can discriminate internal faults from external faults ever when a CT is saturated in both cases. This paper concludes by implementing the algorithm into the TMS320C6701 digital signal processor. The results of hardware implementation are also satisfactory The algorithm can not only increase the sensitivity of the current differential relay but Improve the stability of the relay for an external faults.

  • The four fuzzy criteria to distinguish the internal fault from the inrush fur the power transformer protection have been identified. They are based on the wave shape, terminal voltage, fundamental and second harmonic component of differential current. systematic way to determine the associated fuzzy membership function is also proposed.

So we could present actual facilities's problems and solutions

Modified-Current-Differential Relay for Transformer Protection

  • During magnetic inrush or over-excitation, saturation of the core in a transformer draws a significant exciting current, which can cause malfunction of a current-differential relay. This paper proposes a modified-current-differential relay for transformer protection. The relay calculates the core-loss current from the induced voltage and the core-loss resistance as well as the magnetizing current from the core flux and the magnetization curve. Finally, the relay obtains the modified differential current by subtracting the core-loss and the magnetizing currents from the conventional differential current. A comparative study of the conventional differential relay with harmonic blocking is presented. The proposed relay not only discriminates magnetic inrush and over-excitation from an internal fault, but also improves the relay speed.

  • 본 논문은 한전 수원전력관리처의 154kV 3상형 가스오일 봉입형 변압기중에서 동일한 제작형식의 변압기에서 동일 고장이 연속하여 발생하여 그 원인을 정밀 분석하고 재발방지 방안을 제시하였다. 고장 예방 방안으로 가스오일봉입방식을 콘서베이터 형으로 구조개선이 필요하다.

This paper describes the action of peripheral anti internal controller, and the display for current conditions and self-diagnosis such as over load and system fault, and the control algorithm design of UPS system with 1-1.5KW ratings. IBM PC/AT is used as the control system and Turbo PASCAL Ver 5.5 as control language.

  • This paper proposes a coordinative protection study results of 22.9kV HTS(High-Temperature Superconducting) cable implemented distribution system. HTS cable can provide about 5 times larger transfer capacability compare to conventional XLPE cable, however, it has different heat characteristic so called quench. This paper presents the simulation results on Ichun substation HTS cable which connects main transformer and 22.9kV bus. Various expected fault cases are considered and discussed to examine whether conventional protection scheme is effective to protect both of existing facilities and HTS cable. With the results of simulation, conventional protection scheme can be used if instantaneous element and time inverse elements could be adjusted with proper time coordination. Internal temperatures of HTS cable conductor in safe region with proper protection without quench. This results are to be demonstrated by the field test and will be implemented in Ichon substation HTS cable protection and control system.

  • This study aims to evaluate the properties and the performance of the newly designed disconnector for surge arrester. This disconnector was verified with the performance in long-duration current impulse test and high current impulse test. And time-current characteristic test was done at 20A, 200A and 800A(3points) for simulating the internal fault condition of the arrester. The results of this test was very good. Consequently, the newly designed disconnector was, evaluated that it is possible to be used for surge arrester in distribution line system.
