  • The intermolecular hydrogen bond between silk fibroin in aqueous solution facilitates gelation of silk fibroin. The dependence of gelation by the concentration of silk fibroin, pH and temperature was investigated. The gelation time of silk fibroin is decreased with increasing the concentration of glycerol and temperature within a limited range. The pH optimum for gelation found out to be 9. Hydrophobic additives were investigated to reduce gelation time.

  • A Photosensitive Crown Ether Styryl Dye derivative(CESD) was prepared for the application and the structure of it was discussed. Light excitation causes the trans-cis isomerization of CESD yielding a conformation suitable to form a coordination bond between an anion group and a metal cation located in crown ether. Intermolecular complex stabilized the cis isomer that absorbs at a shorter wavelength in the trend-cis isomerization. Application of CESD was suggested.

  • The authors report the synthesis and radical ring-crossover polymerization of macrocycles with radically exchangeable dynamic covalent bonds. The macrocyclic compounds with alkoxyamine units were designed and synthesized by condensation from alkoxyamine-based diol and the corresponding acid chlorides in the presence of pyridine under high-dilution condition. The macrocycles can thermally polymerize by intermolecular radical crossover reaction. Furthermore, the poly(alkoxyamine)s depolymerized to the monomers principally by the intramolecular radical exchange process under high-dilution conditions.

  • Chitin is the second most abundant natural polymer after cellulose. It is mainly extracted from crustaceous shells and cell walls of fungi, insects and yeast. Chitin is known to be insoluble in most common solvents except for strong acids or N,N-dimethylacetamid because of its rigid crystalline structure through intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Therefore, different derivatives have been prepared based on chemical and enzymic modification of chitin. (omitted)

  • 1, 4-Benzodiazepin 5-one was prepared from 2-aminobenzamide derivatives by acid catalyzed intermolecular cyclization. N-Alkylation of 2-aminobenzamide with $\alpha$-bromo acetaldehyde diethylacetal to 2(2', 2'-diethoxyethyl) aminobenzamide (I) and subsequent treatment of I with acid gave 1, 4-benzdiazepin 5-one, where as the acetyl derivatives of I did not react to 1, 4-benzodiazepin 5-one but to methyl 4-quinazolone (IV).

  • A spectrophotomertic method is proposed for the determination of antihistamines. The method is based on solvent extraction of the ion pair formed between antihistamines and colored picric acid into chloroform. The binding state of antihistamines-picric acid complexes were presumed by IR and $^{1}$H-NMR spectra as intermolecular hydrogen bonding. This method was applicable to the determination of antihistamines in the pharamaceutical preparations.

  • In this study, the effect of multi-step purification or functionalization on physicochemical properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs)/epoxy (EP) nanocomposites was investigated. The nanocomposites containing multi-step purified MWNTs showed a stronger influence on $T_g$ and increased in mechanical properties in comparison to nanocomposites containing the same amount of only purified MWNTs. Consequently, the multi-step purification of MWNTs led to an improvement of thermomechanical properties of nanocomposites, resulting from improving the intermolecular interaction of MWNTs in epoxy matrix resins.
