A Study on Interlocking Inspection Technique for Computer Controlled Interlocking System (전자연동시스템의 연동검사기법에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of interlocking system was to prevent the route for a train being set up and its protecting signal cleared if there was already another, conflicting route set up and the protecting signal for that route cleared. Recently, the computer based control systems instead of conventional relays circuitry are widely used to industrial systems, therefore, interlocking system are rapidly changing from relay interlocking system to computer controlled interlocking system that control requirements of interlocking at junctions using electronic circuits. However, the reliability of interlocking logic for those systems are harder to demonstrate than in traditional relays circuitry because the faults or errors can not be analyzed and predicted to those systems, In this paper, by examine checking technique of computer controlled interlocking system, we will to acquire interlocking inspection algorithm and method for computer controlled interlocking system

  • Recently, the computer based control systems instead of conventional relays circuitry are widely used to industrial applications, and also those technology is available to railway signaling which are safety-critical systems. However, the safety and reliability of software for those systems are harder to demonstrate than in traditional relays circuitry because the faults or errors can not be analyzed and predicted to those systems. So, the safety problems are crucial more and more in computer based control system. In this paper, the GRAFCET(GRAphe Fonctionnel do Commande Etape/Transition) language is used as a analysis and verification tool for safety-critical interlocking logic. The general description for Grafcet notation are provided and the general modeling for interlocking logic is presented.

  • An interlocking equipment of railway signalling systems is manufactured with electrical devices and electrical interlocking equipment has been substituted for existing interlock equipment(relay sequential logic type). But interlock conditions are still generated from rail diagram and used to make Interlock Table manually. In order to make EIS(Electrical Interlock System) operate, we should write interlock data which is made from interlock table. But, as the station is larger and more complicated, handwork may becomes a very tediou work and makes more mistakes. Therefore the development of CAD system for Interlocking System is very significant, if CAD can reduce the mistakes from handwork and help the configuring the interlocking system. In this paper, we first arrange some rules which can be used to extract route information automatically from rail diagram and interlocking rules. And then we propose "Search-And-Rollback" algorithm to extract route information and individual interlocking rules. The proposed algorithm is implemented and tested through the signal design process of the Hyundai-Steel private railway to carry melted pig iron from the blast furnace to the steel-making workshop. some cases. It shows that CAD for Interlocking system is very helpful in time saving aspect and system reliability.

  • The purpose of interlocking system in railway is to prevent the route for a train being set up and its protecting signal cleared if there were already another, conflicting route set up and the protecting signal for that route cleared. Recently, conventional relays circuitry in industrial field is replaced to computer-based control systems according to the advance of computer and communication technology. Therefore, interlocking systems in railway field are rapidly changing from existing relay-based interlocking system to computer-based electronic ones that executes the vital interlocking logic to assure the safety train routes at trackside signaling equipment room using electronic circuits. So it is very important to verify the performance of developed electronic interlocking system by plentiful laboratory testing before actually application in the railway system. However the laboratory testing in the present state of railway signaling is preformed individually by manual, so very much test time and cost are required. To solve these problems, we are developed the simulator for automatic interlocking inspection in this research. This simulator is able to operate on general personal computer and has following beneficial functions : automatic test sheet generation for inspection, automatic inspection execution and et al. The experiments are executed to test the feasibility of the developed simulator the experimental results have good agreements with the anticipated ones.

  • Interlocking signalling chart must have no error and ensures a high availability for train operation. Interlocking signalling chart creation needs expert who has much experience to avoid errors, which can provoke some accidents. The CAD system for interlocking signalling chart can replace the expert because it can create the signalling chart without any errors if the creation logic being correct. We have developed the CAD system, present the basic algorithm in this paper.

  • Locking sheet is to display the contents of interlocking equipment for safe train drive in stations. It is being used as a basic information for interlocking equipment and for route control condition and the discussion for train operation between related parties. In spite of importance of this, there was no other way except depending on the work by hands from each stage(drawing, examination, discussion, approval) due to non-existing any tool. It is written it takes 30days from drawing to approval by procedures. However, it is required over the days in real time due to argument of each party. Furthermore on drawing of locking sheet, special conditions applied in accordance with situations of each station occasionally are different depending on the person in charge. Therefore, it is urgent to make up Logic Tree to accept special conditions of all stations. Automation Program for Drawing and Examination of Locking Sheet is to improve inefficient interlocking operation which was operated by hands in accordance with custom as automated system. The target of this program is to minimize the processing time and potential errors by personal work and set up standards for Logic Tree of special condition.

  • The railway signaling system has evolved to maximize its safety and maintainability based on the experiences in the construction and operation of railway systems. The newly developed systems was established to cope with the changes in an operating environment. In the process of a transition to the new system, both the existing ATS (Automatic Train Stop) and new ATP/ATO (Automatic Train Protection/Automatic Train Operation) systems are operating simultaneously in parallel. In this situation, modifications of the conditions of the interlocking diagram and logic are necessarily required on the existing ATS systems due to the frequent improvements in signaling equipment. This paper reports the enhancement of safety and operational efficiency of the system through an improvement of the security and the interlocking conditions of the existing ATS systems. The independent display of signals for each track was ensured to avoid giving the effect of On/Off signals for the selected track on the opposite side, and the security was improved by adjusting the position and interlocking conditions. In addition, the increased traffic density of railway systems was achieved by removing the unnecessary conditions and detailed signal display, which resulted in enhanced operational efficiency.

  • In this paper we present the specification development for the localization of interlockings which control routes within a HSR station yard. For the electronic interlockings in Korea introduced from France in the 1990s, it has a complicated hardware configuration and communication protocols in order to secure safety. Now 30 years later, in case of the application of the up-to-date IT technology, it is expected to achieve equal or greater safety and save maintenance costs. Additionally, we develop the specification so as to utilize the stable domestic electronic interlocking technology for general railways, beyond the simple maintenance for the performance maintenance of foreign devices, to high-speed railways. Therefore, we perform a study for the localization of the HSR electronic interlockings by comparing and analyzing interlocking logic units between conventional HSR and general railways.

  • Metro Subway System is widely known as the leader of public transportation in a metropolitan area. The signal interlocking is one of the most important organs that plays a major role in the system. By improving the quality of signal interlocking on of the traffic system and keeping its maintenance on a high level will not only repair the current state, but it will also let the PLC(Programmable Logic Controller). The Non-Vital relay of No. 3, 4 Line are the most one of the unstable system, device, which underwent a process of fine manufacture establishment and a close examination, obtained as a new device. Utilizing the equipment with cautious preservation on the system will enhance the current state of the signal device. Especially, the test for improvement and development based upon the technique that decreases the frequency of defect produced will further precipitate its efficiency. With authorization of imposing the newly made equipment will bring improvement to the signal technology and to the industry at largest extent.

Understanding of Subsurface Cavity Mechanism due to the Deterioration of Buried Pipe (노후 매립관로로 인한 지하 공동발생 메카니즘 고찰)

  • In order to analyze ground relaxation and cavity formation mechanism due to deteriorated sewer pipe, field test was carried out and a numerical assessments were compared with the field test results. An artificial underground cavity was intended using the ice block overlaying the buried pipe and confirmed that the cavity and relaxation of the surrounding ground were gradually formed as the ice block starts to melt down. Such mechanism was highly suspected to be involved with soil particle interlocking as a soil compaction was a typical process for the buried pipes. In exploring such mechanism numerically, commercially available DEM (Discrete Element Method) code PFC2D was used and the interlocking induced cavern behaviors were successfully simulated and compared with field test results by utilizing the clump logic imbedded in PFC code.
