Interleaved ZVS Resonant Converter with a Parallel-Series Connection

  • This paper presents an interleaved resonant converter with a parallel-series transformer connection in order to achieve ripple current reduction at the output capacitor, zero voltage turn-on for the active switches, zero current turn-off for the rectifier diodes, less voltage stress on the rectifier diodes, and less current stress on the transformer primary windings. The primary windings of the two transformers are connected in parallel in order to share the input current and to reduce the root-mean-square (rms) current on the primary windings. The secondary windings of the two transformers are connected in series in order to ensure that the transformer primary currents are balanced. A full-wave diode rectifier is used at the output side to clamp the voltage stress of the rectifier diode at the output voltage. Two circuit modules are operated with the interleaved PWM scheme so that the input and output ripple currents are reduced. Based on the resonant behavior, all of the active switches are turned on under zero voltage switching (ZVS), and the rectifier diodes are turned off under zero current switching (ZCS) if the operating switching frequency is less than the series resonant frequency. Finally, experiments with a 1kW prototype are described to verify the effectiveness of the proposed converter.

  • A new interleaved synchronous mirror delay(SMD) is proposed in order to reduce the circuit size and the power. The conventional interleaved SMD has multiple pairs of forward delay array(FDA) and backward delay away(BDA) in order to reduce the jitter. The proposed interleaved SMD. requires one FDA and one BDA by changing the position of multiplexer. Moreover, the proposed interleaved SMD solves the polarity problem with just one extra inverter. Simulation results show that about 30% power reduction and 40% area reduction are achieved in the proposed interleaved SMD. All circuit simulations and implementations are based on a 0.25um two-metal CMOS technology.

Power Distribution Control Scheme for a Three-phase Interleaved DC/DC Converter in the Charging and Discharging Processes of a Battery Energy Storage System

  • This study presents a power distribution control scheme for a three-phase interleaved parallel DC/DC converter in a battery energy storage system. To extend battery life and increase the power equalization rate, a control method based on the nth order of the state of charge (SoC) is proposed for the charging and discharging processes. In the discharging process, the battery sets with high SoC deliver more power, whereas those with low SoC deliver less power. Therefore, the SoC between each battery set gradually decreases. However, in the two-stage charging process, the battery sets with high SoC absorb less power, and thus, a power correction algorithm is proposed to prevent the power of each particular battery set from exceeding its rated power. In the simulation performed with MATLAB/Simulink, results show that the proposed scheme can rapidly and effectively control the power distribution of the battery sets in the charging and discharging processes.

  • In this paper, a new interleaving method for spatially-multiplexed multi-input-multi-output (SM-MIMO) scheme in an integrated mobile satellite and terrestrial system is proposed. In the proposed scheme, the transmitted bits for satellite path are interleaved in an innovative way to make sure that bits multiplied with different channel gains will be located alternatively in one received codeword after demapping, in order to compensate the performance degradation due to high-correlation of the satellite path. In addition, the interleaver can be implemented in a computationally efficient way and with the minimum time delay.

  • When channel state information (CSI) is available at the transmitter, the system throughput can be enhanced by adaptive transmissions and opportunistic multiuser scheduling. In this paper, we consider multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems employing bit-interleaved coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (BIC-OFDM). We first propose a bit-loading algorithm based on the Levin-Campello algorithm for the BIC-OFDM. Then we will apply this algorithm to the MIMO system with a finite set of constellations, by reassigning residual power on each stream Simulation results show that proposed bit-loading scheme which takes the residual power into account improves the system performance especially at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) range.

  • In order to support efficiently the multimedia applications, such as virtual classroom, video conferencing and tele-medical, the efficient multipoint-to-multipoint(MP-to-MP) connection management function is essential. Shared tree is reported as the most useful method for this purpose. In this paper we propose a new MP-to-MP connection setup & management scheme, called CIMA(Cell Interleaved Multiplexing on ATM) scheme,which is a VC merging method for MP-to-MP communication using shared tree. In the CIMA scheme,MRM cell delivers the cell merging information to the next node. The receiving node can identfy cells which arrived through a channel using the same VPI/VCI by the merging information in the MRM cell. Therefore the CIMA scheme can solve easily the Cell Interleaving Problem(CIP) that happens in VC merging. We analyzed the overhead of the proposed CIMA by mathematical analysis,and simulated the buffer usage of CIMA with OPNET. As the result of analysis,we found that the CIMA scheme has acceptable merging overhead and doesn't cause the buffer scare problem.

  • In this paper, we propose interleaved super-orthogonal convolutional coded ultra wide-band impulse radio(ISOC-UWB-IR) system, and analyze its performance. The proposed system uses interleaver and deinterleaver to decorrelate the temporal correlation of the fading process and to obtain the diversity gain. We also suggest the three types of interleavers, which are pulse-wise interleaver(PI), pulse sub-group-wise interleaver(PSGI), and pulse group-wise interleaver(PGI). Performance analysis result shows that the interleaving scheme, rather than the code rate of super orthogonal convolutional code(SOC) encoder, affects the performance for the Rayleigh fading channel.

  • This paper proposes an improved design of an interleaved motion vector coding scheme with flexibility in predictive motion vector component by exploiting motion characteristics. It can use component-wise adaptive motion vector predictor based on the utility of spatial and temporal motion field without any signaling bit for indicating decoder of the selected predictive motion vector component. Experiment with test video data shows about 1.99% (max 8.71%) bit rate reduction compared to the conventional H.264/AVC method.

  • The mobile station shall convolutionally encode the data transmitted on the reverse traffic channel and the access channel prior to interleaving. Code symbols output from the convolutional encoder are repeated before being interleaved except the 9600 bps data rate. All the symbols are then interleaved, 64-ary orthogonal modulation, direct-sequence spreading, quadrature spreading, baseband filtering and QPSK transmission. The sync, paging, and forward traffic channel except the pilot channel in the forward CDMA channel are convolutionally encoded, block interleaved, spread with Walsh function at a fixed chip rate of 1.2288 Mcps to provide orthogonal channelization among all code channels. Following the spreading operation, the I and Q impulses are applied to respective baseband filters. After that, these impulses shall be transmitted by QPSK. Authentication in the CDMA system is the process for confirming the identity of the mobile station by exchanging information between a mobile station and the base station. The authentication scheme is to generate a 18-bit hash code from the 152-bit message length appended with 24-bit or 40-bit padding. Several techniques are proposed for the authentication data computation in this paper. To protect sensitive subscriber information, it shall be required enciphering ceratin fields of selected traffic channel signaling messages. The message encryption can be accomplished in two ways, i.e., external encryption and internal encryption.

  • In the development of paralleling techniques, Multi-Phase Interleaved(MPI) converter constitutes one of the most promising alternatives reported in the last years. This technique consists of a phase shifting of the control signals of several cells in parallel operating at the same switching frequency. As a result, the aggregated input and output current waveform exhibit lower ripple amplitude and smaller harmonics content than in synchronous or stochastic operation modes. Based on the inherent advantages of the MPI converter, in this paper, a control scheme, which can reduce current and voltage rifle, is proposed for PEMFC generation systems. The MPI boost converter is composed of several identical boost converters connected in parallel.
