On the Implementation of an Optimal Basis Identification Procedure for Interior Point Method (내부점 선형계획법에서의 최적기저 추출방법의 구현)

  • In this study, we deals with the implementation of an optimal basis identification procedure for interior point methods. Our implementation is based on Megiddo’s strongly polynomial algorithm applied to Andersen and Ye’s approximate LP construction. Several techniques are explained such as the use of effective indicator for obtaining optimal partition when constructing the approximate LP, the efficient implementation of the problem reduction technique proposed by Andersen, the crashing procedure needed for fast dual phase of Megiddo’s algorithm and the construction of the stable initial basis. By experimental comparison, we show that our implementation is superior to the crossover scheme implementation.

Prediction of Interior Noise by Excitation Force of Powertrain Based on Hybrid Transfer Path Analysis (Hybrid TPA를 이용한 파워트레인 구조기인 실내소음 예측)

  • In early design stage, the simulation of interior noise is useful for the enhancement of the noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance in a vehicle. The traditional transfer path analysis (TPA) technology cannot simulate the interior noise since it uses the experimental method. In order to solve this problem, in this paper, the hybrid TPA is developed as the novel approach. The hybrid TPA uses the simulated excitation force as the input force, which excites the flexible body of a car at the mount point, while the traditional TPA uses the measured force. This simulated force is obtained by numerical analysis for the FE (finite element) model of a powertrain. The interior noise is predicted by multiplying the simulated force by the vibro-acoustic transfer function (VATF) of the vehicle. The VATF is the acoustic response in the compartment of a car to the input force at the mount point of the powertrain in the flexible car body. The trend of the predicted interior noise based on the hybrid TPA very well corresponds to the measured interior noise, although there is some difference due to not only the experimental error and the simulation error but also the effect of the air-borne path.

  • This paper proposes Nonlinear Interior Point Method (NIPM) including discrete control variables optimal power flow formulations. The algorithm utilizes the robustness in terms of starting point and fast convergence for large scale power system of NIPM and an introduction of rounding penalty function which is augmented in the Lagrangian function to handle discrete control variables. The derived formulation shows a simplified approach to deal with discrete control problems which is implementable in real large scale systems.

  • The computational speed of interior point method of linear programming depends on the speed of Cholesky factorization to solve AΘA$^{T}$ $\Delta$y=b. If the coefficient matrix A has dense columns then the matrix AΘA$^{T}$ becomes a dense matrix. This causes Cholesky factorization to be slow. The Schur complement method is applied to treat dense columns in many implementations but suffers from its numerical unstability. We study efficient implementation of Schur complement method. We achieve improvements in computational speed and numerical stability.rical stability.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest specific function of each areas and way to express reasonable interior elements within interior design of sports center in Korea. The method of this research is case study of sports center In various fields since 1980. During the study, it Is very clear that the most important points in designing of sports centers interior space to accomodate main body training areas and service area for the users. The other point is to explain within the space plan that there should be a clear understanding of general regulation for the installation element, function and behavioral facts. The social, cultural roles of sports center must have the function as a multi service facility. In summary this research is to present datas and suggestion to various areas in sports center and refine its new meaning of sports center space plan with much better designing.

Design of BAM using an Optimization approach (최적화기법을 이용한 BAM의 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a design method for BAMs(bidirectiona1 associative memories) which can perform the function of bidirectional association efficiently. Based on the theoretical investigation about the properties of BAMs, we first formulate the problem of finding a BAM that can store the given pattern pairs as stable states with high error correction ratio in the form of a constrained optimization problem. Next, we transform the constrained optimization problem into a GEVP(genera1ized eigenvalue problem), which can be solved by recently developed interior point methods. The applicability of the proposed method is illustrated via design examples.

  • The recent concerns over the threat of global climate change and the requirements of national reduction of $CO_2$ emission have led to the diversification of energy resources and a large scale integration of renewable resources. In these circumstances, the policy decision currently made by the government sector includes several programs to promote the equipment of large scale generating assets to use wind energy. However, the power systems and wind farms need such innovative operation scheme schemes that maintain an adequate level of system security for continuing growth of renewable resources. This paper presents a method for determining optimal operating points for wind farms by making use of a nonlinear interior point method.

  • The joint dispatch of regional electricity markets can improve the overall economic efficiency of interconnected markets by increasing the combined social welfare of the interconnected markets. This paper presents a new decentralized optimization technique based on Augmented Lagrangian Relaxation (ALR) to perform the joint dispatch of interconnected electricity markets. The Block Coordinate Descent (BCD) technique is applied to decompose the inseparable quadratic term of the augmented Lagrangian equation into individual market optimization problems. The Interior Point/Cutting Plane (IP/CP) method is used to update the Lagrangian multiplier in the decomposed market optimization problem. The numerical example is presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed decentralized method.

  • Human exists in environment. As environment affects in human movement, human reacts to everything happens in environment especially by the view point of visual continuity and changeability. This study has two purposes. The one is to clarify the visual changeability due to the Human movement from the visual point based on checking the visual field. And the other is to understand the applicable possibility of Philip Thiel's method through the experiment in passing ways. Condition of this study is that colors and figures are affective elements of visual environmental sequence by the Human movement. The Human movement is due to the visual phenomenon. That means it is not limited in Philip Theil's method(Node, District). In particular, the chroma which is checked by the BPA(Basic-Pattern-Area) is the most affective visual environmental element in contemporary shopping mall. Also, everything in visual environment and the movement is connected by the time axis. As an analytical method, the sequence notation devised by Philip Thiel was applied.
