  • This study was carried to analyze the structural change of interrelationships between the forestry including forest product processing and the other industrial sectors. The interindustry tables (19 setors) were drawn with the aid of the interindustry table published in 1970, 1975 and 1980 in connection with the forestry and forest product processing. In addition, the input coefficient and inverse matrix coefficient were calculated in the light of the 19 sector of interindustry tables. Owing to the change of economic structure during the period of 1970-1980, the importance of forest in Gross National Product has been decreasing. But it has shown that forestry is a kind of original industry having a great deal of intermediate demand which is constantly increasing. Therefore, forestry could be regarded as a supply industry to other industries. In addition, the import coefficient of forestry products in larger than that of other industries and it keeps increasing.

  • In this study, we dealt with the U-City industry in Seoul as a case study for deriving the characteristics of it. Using the interindustry analysis, we made sure that U-City industry has a great forward linkage effect. It means that development of U-City industry have a good effect on the entire industry likewise the infrastructure. In this sense it is important that we have to promote it first. Based on this result, we suggested the strategy direction as follows: 1) Solving the emerging problem, 2) Identifying the roles of public and private sector, 3) Drawing up the plan for supporting.

  • This study investigates both backward and forward multipliers of human capital in the field of information technology in order to evaluate human resources programs which were executed in the public sectors. Dynamic interindustry linkages analysis was employed as a methodology after classifying human capitals related to information technology into 9 industries. First, empirical findings showed that there are economic externalities in the IT HRD programs when the formation of human capital increases with more investment in them. Second, another finding was that the effect of HRD programs could be powerful when HRD programs were closely connected with R&D programs, showing that R&D programs among IT HRD programs have huge backward linkage effect. In addition, IT service sector has its own spill-over effect to other industries. Third, however, small budget and one off HRD programs should be considered as a negative price synergy effect. Finally, overall economic feasibility of IT HRD programs turned out to be excellent with consideration of their own economic direct and indirect effect.

  • Space exploration project usually consists of so many fields of sub projects that it has a diverse ripple effect throughout the economy. Further studies could not consider the complexity of the space exploration project because they regarded it as one project in spite of the diversity. This study found a way to consider complexity of space exploration project using the concept of WAC(weighted average coefficient). The moon exploration project (2014~2020) is the subject of this study. We classified the moon exploration project into 8 industries and calculated the WAC of production inducement coefficient, value added inducement coefficient, and employment inducement coefficient. The result of analysis using these WACs is that production inducement effect amounts to 1,229.6 billion won, value added inducement effect 324.6 billion won, employment inducement effect 4,844 men. And the linkage effect analysis shows that moon exploration project has more backward linkage effect than forward linkage effect.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the forward impact of water supply bottleneck using a supply-side input-output model. The failure cost analysed in this study can be used to estimate the values of the water supply reliability and can provide the bases of policy decision for the effective reallocation when water supply constraint will occur. So the position of water supply in the national economy is identified, and direct and indirect impacts are estimated by means of the interindustry analysis. Also the failure cost index is suggested to determine the prior order of water supply important in drought. By the way, the occurrence of drought having regional properties, the failure cost of the regional level using a national input-output table may be overestimated or underestimated. For the preceding reason, the failure cost estimated by a national input-output table is compared with and analysed to a regional input-output table for Kyung- Nam.g- Nam.

  • In this paper, we investigate the national effects of the ubiquitous industry(UI) for a u-Korea(ubiquitous Korea) project. As the UI has now been playing the more and more important role in Korean economy, it will be very appropriate to provide the policy makers with the accurate and reliable implications regarding the role of UI in the national economy. This paper applies the interindustry analysis to examine the impact of UI under the unique situation of Korea. To do this, we use the Input-Output Table published by the Bank of Korea in 2000. Our results shows that the economic effects of UI on the production-inducing, value added-inducing, export & import-inducing and employment-inducing in Korea will approximately be 240 trillion won from 2005 through 2010.

  • This paper aims to identify the spatial concentrations and linkage properties of industrial clusters in the Chungbuk Province region in Korea using a three-step approach, which is composed of the cluster index, Getis-Ord's $Gi^*$, and qualitative input-output analysis. The results of the study reveal: a) what industrial sectors are concentrated and where they are; b) where the spatially interdependent industries are; and c) how the industrial sectors of the identified clusters in different locations are vertically interconnected. In addition, the degree of strength of the interindustry linkages between industrial clusters are assessed. Based on the findings, some plausible industrial policies are suggested.

  • Recently, the social issues such as low birth rate, an aging population has brought about decreasing labor productivity and productive population. To relieve these problems, the government has planned to set up smart working infrastructure and will raise the number of smart worker to around 30 percent of the total working population by 2015. This study scrutinizes to the meaning of smart working with the concepts of new work pattern and open innovation. The empirical analysis result shows 56.9% of SMBs thought a need for such system and 60.1% of them answered to adopt it. And the market related to smart working of SMBs will increase to 17.5% every year to the point that by 2014. It will be worth 1.54 trillion won and create up to 38,000 job positions. While prior researches on SMB suggested key drivers and guideline for innovation, this study gives some implications of impact and ripple effect of smart working as an innovation factor based on empirical analysis.
