In this paper, a novel architecture for device miniaturization of multimode interference-based couplers (MMICs) is proposed by replacing conventionally designed MMICs by cascaded two-section stepped-width or stepped-index MMICs. For the 82% cross coupling efficiency in a stepped-width MMIC, the coupling length of device results in just 6.7% length reduction. However, for a stepped-width and stepped-index MMIC, the coupling efficiency increases to 93% and the length reduction of 9% occurs. Furthermore, with additional incorporation of tapered devices, it shows that a compact MMIC can be designed in which the coupling efficiency is 90% and the length is reduced to 25%.

Data storage related with writing and retrieving requires high storage capacity, fast transfer rate and less access time. Today any data storage system cannot satisfy these conditions, however holographic data storage system can perform faster data transfer rate because it is a page oriented memory system using volume hologram in writing and retrieving data. System can be constructed without mechanical actuating part therefore fast data transfer rate and high storage capacity about $1Tb/cm^3$ can be realized. In this paper, to reduce errors of binary data stored in holographic data storage system, a new method for bit error reduction is suggested. First, find cluster centers using subtractive clustering algorithm then reduce intensities of pixels around cluster centers and fuzzy rules. Therefore, By using this error reduction method following results are obtained ; the effect of Inter Pixel Interference noise is decreased and the intensity profile of data page becomes uniform therefore the better data storage system can be constructed.
For a systematic study on wind-induced vibration characteristics of large hyperbolic cooling towers with different feature sizes, the pressure measurement tests are finished on the rigid body models of three representative cooling towers with the height of 155 m, 177 m and 215 m respectively. Combining the refined frequency-domain algorithm of wind-induced responses, the wind-induced average response, resonant response, background response, coupling response and wind vibration coefficients of large cooling towers with different feature sizes are obtained. Based on the calculating results, the parametric analysis on wind-induced vibration of cooling towers is carried out, e.g. the feature sizes, damping ratio and the interference effect of surrounding buildings. The discussion shows that the increase of feature sizes makes wind-induced average response and fluctuating response larger correspondingly, and the proportion of resonant response also gradually increased, but it has little effect on the wind vibration coefficient. The increase of damping ratio makes resonant response and the wind vibration coefficient decreases obviously, which brings about no effect on average response and background response. The interference effect of surrounding buildings makes the fluctuating response and wind vibration coefficient increased significantly, furthermore, the increase ranges of resonant response is greater than background response.

This paper is concerned with the performance comparison of CR-CMA (Coordinate Reduction-CMA) and CM-CMA (Constellation Matching-Constant Modulus Algorithm) that is used for improving the convergence characteristic and residual intersymbol interference which are used as the performance index for an adaptive equalizer. The equalizer is used to reduce the distortion caused by the intersymbol interference on the wireless and the wired band-limited channel, and the blind method which does not need for extra bandwidth by the training sequence of digital code are researched. Recently, by using the merit of simple operation in the CMA, the performance improvement is obtained by the modifying the cost function of it. In this paper, the new algorithm, CR-CMA and CM-CMA, the performance analysis are performed and compared by computer simulation. The CR-CMA has a superior equalization characteristics in the recovered constellation, convergence speed and residual intersymbol interference than the CM-CMA by computer simulation.
Current wind-resistance designs of large-scale indirect dry cooling towers (IDCTs) exclude an important factor: the influence of the ventilation rate for radiator shutter on wind loads on the outer surfaces of the tower shell. More seemingly overlooked aspects are the effects of various ventilation rates on the wind pressure distribution on the tower surfaces of two IDCTs, and the feature of the flow field around them. In order to investigate the effects of the radiator shutter ventilation rates on the aerodynamic interference between IDCTs, this paper established the numerical wind tunnel model based on the Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) technology, and analyzed the influences of various radiator shutter ventilation rates on the aerodynamic loads acting upon a single and two extra-large IDCTs during building, installation, and operation stages. Through the comparison with the results of physical wind tunnel test and different design codes, the results indicated that: the influence of the ventilation rate on the flow field and shape coefficients on the outer surface of a single IDCT is weak, and the curve of mean shape coefficients is close to the reference curve provided by the current design code. In a two-tower combination, the ventilation rate significantly affects the downwind surface of the front tower and the upwind surface of the back tower, and the larger positive pressure shifts down along the upwind surface of the back tower as the ventilation rate increases. The ventilation rate significantly influences the drag force coefficient of the back tower in a two-tower combination, the drag force coefficient increases with the ventilation rate and reaches the maximum in a building status of full ventilation, and the maximum drag coefficient is 11% greater than that with complete closure.

Considering the tradeoff between energy consumption and outage behavior in buffer-aided relay selection, a novel energy-efficient buffer-aided optimal relay selection scheme with power adaptation and Inter-Relay Interference (IRI) cancellation is proposed. In the proposed scheme, energy consumption minimization is the objective with the consideration of relay buffer state, outage probability and relay power control, in order to eliminate IRI. The proposed scheme selects a pair of optimal relays from multiple candidate relays, denoted as optimal receive relay and optimal transmit relay respectively. Source-relay and relay-destination communications can be performed within a time-slot, which performs as Full-Duplex (FD) relaying. Markov chain model is applied to analyze the evolution of relay buffer states. System steady state outage probability and achievable diversity order are derived respectively. In addition, packet transmission delay and power reduction performance are investigated with a specific analysis. Numerical results show that the proposed scheme outperforms other relay selection schemes in terms of outage behavior with power adaptation and IRI cancellation in the same relay number and buffer size scenario. Compared with Buffer State relay selection method, the proposed scheme reduces transmission delay significantly with the same amount of relays. Average transmit power reduction can be implemented to relays with the increasing of relay number and buffer size, which realizes the tradeoff between energy-efficiency, outage behavior and delay performance in green cooperative communications.

In this paper, we analyze the performance of a DS-CDMA system employing adaptive adaptive array antenna technology at base-station. For the analysis the receiving architecture of a multiple team adaptive base-station array antenna is proposed as a major system omponent, and signal to interference and noise ratio(SINR) on the proposed architecture is developed. We show that the perfomance enhancement of the CDMA system is represented as great reduction of interfreence by employing an array antenna capable of resolving the angular distribution of the mobile users as seen at the ase-station. The energy associated with each mobile or a group of mobiles is thus confined within the addressed volume, greatly reducing the amount of co-channel interference experienced from and by neighboring co-channel cells. In order to ascertain the benefits of such an antenna, a theoretical approach, which eis based on the conventional and proposed antenna systems in a typical mobile radio environment, is adopted. Finally computer simulation results show the insight into how the adaptive array antenna operates when used in conjunction with DS-CDMA and illustrate the potential benefits in the SINR point of view.

This paper drives the exact expression of bit error rate(BER) performance for groupwise iterative-multipath interference cancellation(GWI-MPIC) algorithm for cancelling multipath interference components in a coherent high-speed downlink packet access(HSDPA) system of W-CDMA downlink and the BER performance is evaluated by numerical analysis. The performance of GWI-MPIC is compared to the successive interference cancellation(SIC) algorithm for multipath components. From numerical results, the optimal average BER performance of weighting factor ${\beta}$$\_$h/ for interference cancellation is obtained at ‘${\beta}$$\_$h/=0.8’ and then this weighting factor is hereafter applied to other performance analysis. Numerical results showed that the average BER performance of GWI-MPIC algorithm is rapidly degraded at multipath L=6, but is revealed the good performance than that of SIC algorithm in terms of increasing the number of multipath. This results also indicated that the average BER performance is greatly degraded due to increasing interference power more than multicode K=8. The average BER performance of the proposed algorithm is superior to the performance of SIC algorithm about 3 ㏈ for processing gain PG=128 at multipath L=2 and Average BER=1.0${\times}$10$\^$-5/. And also, the results produced good performance in case of linear monotonic reduction of multipath fading channel gain than that of constant channel gain variation, because multipath fading channel gain which is arrived later is small.

In this paper, we propose efficient uplink data transmission method in ultra dense wireless networks as in intra-aircraft, where large-scale APs and wireless sensors are deployed. In the ultra dense wireless networks, a performance degradation is inevitable due to the inter-AP interference. However, the performance degradation can be avoided if a scheduling algorithm can estimate the amount of interference caused by each wireless sensor and reflects it. SGIR (Signal-to-Generating Interference Ratio) based scheduling algorithms is a typical example. Unfortunately, the scheduling algorithms based on the interference caused by wireless sensors necessarily yield large scale exchange of information through backhaul which connects APs. Therefore, we, in this paper, propose a novel scheme which can dramatically reduce the amount of information which are exchanged through backhaul connection. Monte-Carlo simulation results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the amount of backhaul traffic by 27% without loss of data transmission rate.
Recently, excessive installations of APs have caused WLAN interference, and many techniques have been suggested to solve this problem. The AP aggregation technique serves to reduce active APs by moving station connections to a certain AP. Since this technique forcibly moves station connections, the transmission performance of some stations may deteriorate. The AP transmit power control technique may cause station disconnection or deterioration of transmission performance when power is reduced under a certain level. The combination of these two techniques can reduce interference through AP aggregation and narrow the range of interferences further through detailed power adjustment. However, simply combining these techniques may decrease the probability of power adjustment after aggregation and increase station disconnections upon power control. As a result, improvement in performance may be insignificant. Hence, this study suggests a scheme to combine the AP aggregation and the AP transmit power control techniques in OpenFlow-based WLAN to ameliorate the disadvantages of each technique and to reduce interferences efficiently by performing aggregation for the purpose of increasing the probability of adjusting transmission power. Simulations reveal that the average transmission delay of the suggested scheme is reduced by as much as 12.8% compared to the aggregation scheme and by as much as 18.1% compared to the power control scheme. The packet loss rate due to interference is reduced by as much as 24.9% compared to the aggregation scheme and by as much as 46.7% compared to the power control scheme. In addition, the aggregation scheme and the power control scheme decrease the throughput of several stations as a side effect, but our scheme increases the total data throughput without decreasing the throughput of each station.
