An Intelligent Measuring and Inspection System for NC Machine Tools (NC 공작기계용 지능형 측정 및 검사시스템)

  • Interactive measuring Part Program Generating Tools (IMPPGT) realized on the FANUC 15MA using touch trigger probes and interactive macro functions of the CNC were developed for intelligent measuring and inspection systems on the machine tools. Machine tools. Menu driven measuring and inspection functions of the IMPPGT were studied and implemented on the CNC through the macro executor and ROM writer. In order to automate measurement and inspection procedures in machine shops, measuring G Code system was also proposed. Using the developed measuring G Code system on the machine tool, untended measurement and inspection operation was able to be realized in FMS lines.

  • This paper discusses on the machine loading and tool allocation (MLTA) problem. Mathematical formulation of the problem is given first. Then a heuristic approach based on Group Technology (GT) is presented to deal with the MLTA problem effectively. By using this approach, part-tool group generation and their assignment to adequate machines can easily be obtained in consideration of the work load on each machine, the number of tool-set replacement, and the total number of cutting tools required through the interactive setting of the desired machine utilization rate.

  • As the recent developments of artificial intelligence, particularly machine-learning, impact every aspect of society, they are also increasingly influencing creative fields manifested as new artistic tools and inspirational sources. However, as more artists integrate the technology into their creative works, the issues of diversity and fairness are also emerging in the AI-based creative practice. The data dependency of machine-learning algorithms can amplify the social injustice existing in the real world. In this paper, we present an interactive visualization system for raising the awareness of the diversity and fairness issues. Rather than resorting to education, campaign, or laws on those issues, we have developed a web & ML-based interactive data visualization system. By providing the interactive visual experience on the issues in interesting ways as the form of web content which anyone can access from anywhere, we strive to raise the public awareness of the issues and alleviate the important ethical problems. In this paper, we present the process of developing the ML-based interactive visualization system and discuss the results of this project. The proposed approach can be applied to other areas requiring attention to the issues.

  • 디지털 방송은 비디오, 오디오와 더불어 데이터를 전송할 수 있다. 데이터 영역에는 셋톱박스(STB)에서 수행되는 애플리케이션(Xlet)이 포함된다. 디지털 방송은 애플리케이션을 이용해 보다 진보된 인터랙티브 프로그램을 제공할 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 인터렉티브 TV에서 3차원 객체의 활용은 아직 여러 제한사항으로 인해 어려움이 있다. 현재 제정된 DVB-MHP, SCTE-OCAP, ATSC-ACAP 등의 데이터 방송 표준은 3D 객체를 표현하기 위한 구체적인 방법을 기술하지 않고 있다. 또한, 상용셋톱박스에 탑재된 자바 가상 머신(Java Virtual Machine)은 3D 객체를 렌더링(Rendering)하기 위한 API를 제공하지 않고 있다. 그리고 이를 위한 별도의 플러그인(Plug-in)도 제공하지 않는다. 본 논문에서는 Interactive TV에서 3차원 객체를 표현하기 위해 필요한 기본개념과 기술 및 데이터 방송 표준을 분석하고, 이들을 통합하여 polygon 기반의 3D Graphic Engine을 제안한다. 특히, 본 논문에서 제안하는 3D Graphic Engine API는 각각의 표준에서 가용한 공통 API를 기반으로 설계 되었으며, Java Virtual Machine 1.1 환경에서 구동될 수 있도록 구현되었다.

  • A human-friendly interactive system, based on the harmonious symbiotic coexistence of humans and robots, is explored. Based on this interactive technology paradigm, a robotic cane is designed to help blind or visually impaired travelers to navigate safely and quickly among obstacles and other hazards faced by blind pedestrians. We outline a set of the hardware solutions and working methodologies that can be used for successfully implementing and extending the interactive technology to complex environments, robots, and humans. The issues discussed include the interaction of human and robot, design issue of robotic cane, hardware requirements for efficient human-robot interaction.

  • This paper presents a software design simulation method for controlling multiple mechanism carrier system (MMCS), which is mainly used in a wrapping machine or a case packing machine. This method uses a mechanical tool-work interactive model proposed in this paper, in order to represent the interactive behaviors between some tools and a work driven by their tools, in which low effect states of a work are defined. Based on this method, a 3-D simulation system has been built. It consists of shape modeling of each device, behavior definitions of tools, and control logic using if-then expression. By applying it to a ase packing machine having about 30 mechanical devices and 100 inputs/outputs for control, the effectiveness of this method has been shown in general verification of control logic specification in an early software design phase and the possibility of smooth communication tool between mechanical and software designers.
