  • Construal level theory (CLT) have been researched in wide range of disciplines such as marketing, organizational study, psychology, or education. Current study asserts that CLT would explain the effect of different devices of PC and smartphone on interaction between human-computer interfaces and information systems use. In CLT, those who are far from an object in terms of physical, temporal, social or psychological distance, they construe their understanding as abstract (high level) and vice versa. We hypothesized different size of digital device will increase psychological distance and result in behaviors that correspond to present construal level. The analysis result shows that users of PC recognized that they are socially distant from the device and those of smartphone felt that they are socially close to the device. However, the device did not have significant effect on attention to essential information, advertisement preference, and immediacy. The implication to academia, practice and future research and limitations are also discussed.

  • The purposes of this study was to find aesthetical-ethical paradigm of care ethics by understanding the unique moral character of care as an art and to suggest the optimal direction of nursing ethics. Method: This study used meaning-heuristic and -interpretive methods of hermeneutics based on philosophical aesthetic theory; Baumgarten's aesthetics, Schiller's theory of aesthetical education and Kant's theory of aesthetical judgement. Result: The concept of care implied aesthetical and ethical character; caring as an art was related to moral feeling based on human dignity und emotional communication in interpersonal-relationship. Caring as an art was interpreted as a moral ideal for the promotion of the humanity und the interaction in personal-relationship according to nursing theories. Philosophical aesthetics could provide the theoretical base for the interpretation of caring as an art. The proper paradigm of care ethics in nursing could be found in character-trait ethics and communication ethics according to the philosophical aesthetics. Conclusion: This study could show aesthetical-ethical paradigm of care ethics in nursing by the heuristic interpretation of caring as an art according to the philosophical aesthetics

  • This paper employs the reproducing kernel (RK) approximation for evaluation of field theory-based incompatibility tensor in a polycrystalline plasticity simulation. The modulation patterns, which is interpreted as mimicking geometrical-type dislocation substructures, are obtained based on the proposed method. Comparisons are made using FEM and RK based approximation methods among different support sizes and other evaluation conditions of the strain gradients. It is demonstrated that the evolution of the modulation patterns needs to be accurately calculated at each time step to yield a correct physical interpretation. The effect of the higher order strain derivative processing zone on the predicted modulation patterns is also discussed.

  • In this work, a nano-size rocksalt crystal (magnesium oxide) is considered as a continuous collection of unit cells, while each unit cell consists of discrete atoms; and modeled by a multiscale concurrent atomic/continuum field theory. The response of the crystal to an electromagnetic (EM) wave is studied. Finite element analysis is performed by solving the governing equations of the multiscale theory. Due to the applied EM field, the inhomogeneous motions of discrete atoms in the polarizable crystal give rise to the change of microstructure and the polarization wave. The relation between the natural frequency of this system and the driving frequency of the applied EM field is found and discussed.

  • This study examined the factors influencing the intention to use smartwatches using the integrated model of technology acceptance model (TAM) and innovation diffusion theory (IDT). An online survey was conducted and the data were analyzed using the structural equation modeling (SEM). The results showed that the research model had an acceptable fit, and all paths, except for the one from the perceived ease of use to the intention to use, were supported. Regarding paths from IDT to TAM, it was observed that higher the compatibility, the users perceived greater usefulness. Additionally, both observability and trialability influenced the perceived ease of use. However, perceived ease of use affected the intention only through the mediated effect of perceived usefulness. The implication of the study lies on the major focus on the effects of users' perceptions regarding innovative characteristics of smartwatches on the intention to adopt and attempted to increase the explanatory power of the TAM and IDT by combining both.

  • In this paper the dynamic stiffness matrix method was used for the free vibration analysis of axially moving micro beam with constant velocity. The extended Hamilton's principle was employed to derive the governing differential equation of the problem using the modified couple stress theory. The dynamic stiffness matrix of the moving micro beam was evaluated using appropriate expressions of the shear force and bending moment according to the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory. The effects of the beam size and axial velocity on the dynamic characteristic of the moving beam were investigated. The natural frequencies and critical velocity of the axially moving micro beam were also computed for two different end conditions.

  • This paper reports about possibility of the elder abuse as a third vulnerable population among family violence in Korea. Although the study of against the elderly has not been reported in our society the need for information about the nature of elder abuse is clear with social change. There will be profound changes in our culture which in recent decades has been largerly dominated in our family. This paper will be explained some theoretical perspectives; Social learning theory Symbolic interaction theory, Exchange theory and factors related to the occurrence of elder abuse; 1) personal characteristics of the abuser and the abused 2)interpersonal characteristics of the relationship between the abuser and the elderly person 3) situational factors that increase the likelihood of abuse 4) socio-cultural factors that impinge on the use of violence. According to them the patterns and other predictions of elder abuse will be pointed.

  • This paper examined the principles of experiential learning theory (ELT) relevant to learning from experience and introduces examples which were applied to medical education from a theoretical perspective. The experiential learning theory encompasses the theories of Dewey, Kolb, and Schon, whose key ideas highlight the continuity of experience, interaction of experience, and reflection. According to ELT, growth is education, and education is a reconstruction of experience. Experiential learning is a way of thinking about the educational process by constructing meaningful learning through reflection-in-action. This paper examines the learning principles of ELT and presents practical examples of the application of ELT and its implications for medical education. An in-depth understanding and application of ELT could benefit the field of medical education.

  • Although Enterprise Systems (ES) have promised major strategic benefits and process improvements from business and technology integration, their implementation has been plagued by a high failure rate and difficulty in realizing the promised benefits. For the purpose of understanding implementation failures, previous studies have focused on identifying critical success factors (CSFs) for information systems implementation. However, there has been little research on how these CSFs actually lead to successful results. In this study, based on process theory, we examined the process of ES implementation by explaining how the factors of ES implementation influence each other and how interaction among them produces results. Based on a failure case, we then developed a process model of ES implementation thus allowing us to explain the process of ES implementation. The proposed model facilitated an understanding of how repeating patterns of ES failure can be reversed. This model can be used for guiding new ES implementation projects.

  • This paper presents the derivation of the generalized governing equations in theory of elasticity, their weak forms and the some applications in the numerical analysis of structural mechanics. Unlike the differential equations in classical elasticity theory, the generalized equations of the equilibrium and compatibility equations presented here take the form of integral equations, and the generalized equilibrium equations contain the classical differential equations and the boundary conditions in a single equation. By using appropriate test functions, the weak forms of these generalized governing equations can be established. It can be shown that various variational principles in structural analysis are merely the special cases of these weak forms of generalized governing equations in elasticity. The present weak forms of elasticity equations extend greatly the choices of the trial functions for approximate solutions in the numerical analysis of various engineering problems. Therefore, the weak forms of generalized governing equations in elasticity provide a powerful modeling tool in the computational structural mechanics.
