환경생태정보 전달을 위한 가상·증강현실 사용자 경험디자인 연구 - 서울식물원 온실을 중심으로 - (The User Experience Design of Virtual and Augmented Reality for Environmental and Ecological Information - Focusing on the Conservatory of Seoul Botanic Park -)

  • The purpose of this research is to examine the user experience design that effectively exhibits botanical information through a virtual habitat built with 3D modeling and scanning data for the conservatory at Seoul Botanic Park. Seoul Botanic Park's conservatory contains environmental and ecological information on the wide spectrum of diverse plants under twelve cities all over the world. However, the exhibition method, which focuses on maps and information boards, has limitations in delivering diverse plant and habitat information to visitors. Virtual and augmented reality can be used as an effective tool for educating and experiencing the contents of various plant species as it can convey the ecological and environmental conditions of the habitat and local culture at diverse levels. This study experimented with constructing virtual habitats using the Unreal Engine and effectively communicating various botanical information through the interaction. With the introduction of a virtual habitat, we intend to enhance the user experience of park visitors and ultimately explore the possibility of using virtual and augmented reality to convey multi-layered environmental and ecological information of landscape.

A cylindrical shell model for nonlocal buckling behavior of CNTs embedded in an elastic foundation under the simultaneous effects of magnetic field, temperature change, and number of walls

  • This model is proposed to describe the buckling behavior of Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) embedded in an elastic medium taking into account the combined effects of the magnetic field, the temperature, the nonlocal parameter, the number of walls. Using Eringen's nonlocal elasticity theory, thin cylindrical shell theory and Van der Waal force (VdW) interactions, we develop a system of partial differential equations governing the buckling response of CNTs embedded on Winkler, Pasternak, and Kerr foundations in a thermal-magnetic environment. The pre-buckling stresses are obtained by applying airy's stress function and an adjacent equilibrium criterion. To estimate the nonlocal critical buckling load of CNTs under the simultaneous effects of the magnetic field, the temperature change, and the number of walls, an optimization technique is proposed. Furthermore, analytical formulas are developed to obtain the buckling behavior of SWCNTs embedded in an elastic medium without taking into account the effects of the nonlocal parameter. These formulas take into account VdW interactions between adjacent tubes and the effect of terms involving differences in tube radii generally neglected in the derived expressions of the critical buckling load published in the literature. Most scientific research on modeling the effects of magnetic fields is based on beam theories, this motivation pushes me to develop a cylindrical shell model for studying the effect of the magnetic field on the static behavior of CNTs. The results show that the magnetic field has significant effects on the static behavior of CNTs and can lead to slow buckling. On the other hand, thermal effects reduce the critical buckling load. The findings in this work can help us design of CNTs for various applications (e.g. structural, electrical, mechanical and biological applications) in a thermal and magnetic environment.

Seismic analysis and performance for stone pagoda structure under Gyeongju earthquake in Korea

  • Analytical models were developed and seismic behaviors were analyzed for a three-story stone pagoda at the Cheollyongsa temple site, which was damaged by the Gyeongju earthquake of 2016. Both finite and discrete element modeling were used and the analysis results were compared to the actual earthquake damage. Vulnerable parts of stone pagoda structure were identified and their seismic behaviors via sliding, rocking, and risk analyses were verified. In finite and discrete element analyses, the 3F main body stone was displaced uniaxially by 60 and 80 mm, respectively, similar to the actual displacement of 90 mm resulting from the earthquake. Considering various input conditions such as uniaxial excitation and soil-structure interaction, as well as seismic components and the distance from the epicenter, both models yielded reasonable and applicable results. The Gyeongju earthquake exhibited extreme short-period characteristics; thus, short-period structures such as stone pagodas were seriously damaged. In addition, we found that sliding occurred in the upper parts because the vertical load was low, but rocking predominated in the lower parts because most structural members were slender. The third-floor main body and roof stones were particularly vulnerable because some damage occurred when the sliding and rocking limits were exceeded. Risk analysis revealed that the probability of collapse was minimal at 0.1 g, but exceeded 80% at above 0.3 g. The collapse risks at an earthquake peak ground acceleration of 0.154 g at the immediate occupancy, life safety, and collapse prevention levels were 90%, 52%, and 6% respectively. When the actual damage was compared with the risk analysis, the stone pagoda retained earthquake-resistant performance at the life safety level.

챗봇 데이터에 나타난 우울 담론의 범주와 특성의 이해 (Understanding the Categories and Characteristics of Depressive Moods in Chatbot Data)

  • 자연어처리 기술과 비대면 문화의 확산과 더불어 챗봇의 사용 증가세가 가파르며, 챗봇의 용도 또한 일상 대화와 소비자 응대를 넘어서 정신건강을 위한 용도로 확장하고 있다. 챗봇은 익명성이 보장된다는 점에서 사용자들이 우울감에 관해 이야기하기 적합한 서비스이다. 그러나 사용자가 작성한 문장들을 분석해 우울 담론의 유형과 특성을 파악하는 연구들은 주로 소셜 네트워크 데이터를 대상으로 했다는 한계점이 존재하며, 실제 환경에서 사용되는 챗봇과 상호작용한 데이터를 분석한 연구는 찾아보기 힘들다. 이 연구에서는 챗봇-사람의 상호작용 데이터에서 무작위로 추출한 '우울'과 관련된 대화 데이터를 토픽 모델링 방법과 텍스트마이닝 기법으로 분석하여 채팅에서의 우울 관련 담론의 특성을 파악하였다. 또한, 챗봇에서 빈번히 나타나는 '우울' 담론의 범주와 트위터 '우울' 담론의 범주의 차이점을 비교하였다. 이를 통해 챗봇 데이터의 '우울' 대화만의 특징을 파악하고, 적절한 심리지원 정보를 제공하는 챗봇 서비스를 위한 시사점과 향후 연구 방향에 대해 논의한다.

  • 메타버스는 다양한 기술 수단을 활용하여 몰입형 관광 서비스 경험을 제공할 수 있어 문화관광 산업에 큰 혁신을 가져올 것으로 예상되나 관련 연구는 아직 미미한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 S-O-R 모델을 기반으로 메타버스 플랫폼에서의 문화관광 활동 참여 의도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하는 것을 목표로 하였다. 본 연구 결과는 문화관광 참여자의 학습 및 오락에 대한 내적 동기와 메타버스가 제공하는 다양한 감각 자극 및 사회적 상호작용과 같은 기능이 몰입 경험과 인지된 즐거움을 매개로 참여 의도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것을 보여주었다. 본 연구는 이를 통해 문화관광 산업의 메타버스 플랫폼 구축에 활용될 수 있는 다양한 실무적 시사점을 제시한다.

Open API와 Ajax를 이용한 다국어 메타검색 서비스의 모델링 및 구현 (Modeling and Implementation of Multilingual Meta-search Service using Open APIs and Ajax)

  • 자바스크립트 기반의 Ajax는 ActiveX 기술의 대안으로 주목받고 있는데, 대부분의 웹 브라우저에서 기본으로 지원되고, 비동기 상호작용을 통한 빠른 속도와 뛰어난 트래픽 절감 효과, 그리고 화려한 인터페이스 등의 장점들로 인해, 현재 국내 대형 포털 사이트들에서도 이 기술을 접목시켜 기존의 서비스를 재오픈 하는 추세이기도 하다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 Ajax 기술과 국내외 주요 사이트에서 제공하는 오픈 API들을 이용하여 다국어 메타검색 시스템을 모델링하고 구현하였다. 사용자로부터 입력받은 한국어 질의어를 구글 번역 API를 이용하여 저 세계 54개국 언어 중 하나의 언어로 번역한 후, 대표적인 소셜 웹 사이트(Flickr, Youtube, Daum, Naver 등)의 정보를 통합 검색한다. 검색된 결과는 Ajax 기술을 통해 화면의 일부분만 동적 로딩하여 빠른 속도로 출력해주는 동시에, 불필요한 정보의 중복 전송을 방지하여 서버의 트래픽과 패킷당 통신 요금을 절감하는 효과를 가져왔다.

Associations between Poorer Mental Health with Work-Related Effort, Reward, and Overcommitment among a Sample of Formal US Solid Waste Workers during the COVID-19 Pandemic

  • Background: Effort-reward imbalance (ERI) and overcommitment at work have been associated poorer mental health. However, nonlinear and nonadditive effects have not been investigated previously. Methods: The association between effort, reward, and overcommitment with odds of poorer mental health was examined among a sample of 68 formal United States waste workers (87% male). Traditional, logistic regression and Bayesian Kernel machine regression (BKMR) modeling was conducted. Models controlled for age, education level, race, gender, union status, and physical health status. Results: The traditional, logistic regression found only overcommitment was significantly associated with poorer mental health (IQR increase: OR = 6.7; 95% CI: 1.7 to 25.5) when controlling for effort and reward (or ERI alone). Results from the BKMR showed that a simultaneous IQR increase in higher effort, lower reward, and higher overcommitment was associated with 6.6 (95% CI: 1.7 to 33.4) times significantly higher odds of poorer mental health. An IQR increase in overcommitment was associated with 5.6 (95% CI: 1.6 to 24.9) times significantly higher odds of poorer mental health when controlling for effort and reward. Higher effort and lower reward at work may not always be associated with poorer mental health but rather they may have an inverse, U-shaped relationship with mental health. No interaction between effort, reward, or overcommitment was observed. Conclusion: When taking into the consideration the relationship between effort, reward, and overcommitment, overcommitment may be most indicative of poorer mental health. Organizations should assess their workers' perceptions of overcommitment to target potential areas of improvement to enhance mental health outcomes.

The Impact of SNS Advertisements on Online Purchase Intention of Generation Z: An Empirical Study of TikTok in Vietnam

  • The study was carried out to investigate the factors affecting the online purchase intention of Vietnamese consumers, focusing on Generation Z (Gen Z), through the information provided on TikTok - a social media network. Besides, the study evaluates the influence of these factors on the intention to purchase online of Gen Z. Most important; the research aims to help businesses better understand the insight of their consumers. The data were collected from 250 people who were born in the 1995 to 2010 period, living in the South of Vietnam. The study was conducted from December 2021 to March 2022 and used two analytical methods, which are exploratory factor analysis and Structural Equation Modeling. Research results show that there are 4 factors of TikTok advertisements that affect the purchase intention of Gen Z consumers, including information, entertainment, trust, and social interaction, and they all have a positive impact on the online purchase intention. In which the information factor has the most significant impact on the online purchase intention of Gen Z consumers. Based on the research results, recommendations are made to help businesses that have sold or intend to sell products via TikTok, improve the effectiveness of advertisement through the TikTok channel.

  • The Local Volume Mapper(LVM) project in the fifth iteration of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-V) will produce large integral-field spectroscopic survey data to understand the physical conditions of the interstellar medium in the Milky Way, the Magellanic Clouds, and other local-volume galaxies. We are developing the LVM Instrument control software. The architecture design of the software follows a hierarchical structure in which the high-level software packages interact with the low-level and mid-level software and hardware components. We adopt the spiral software development model in which the software evolves by iteration of sequential processes, i.e., software requirement analysis, design, code generation, and testing. This spiral model ensures that even after being commissioned, the software can be revised according to new operational requirements. We designed the software by using the Unified Modeling Language, which can visualize functional interactions in structure diagrams. We plan to use the SDSS software framework CLU for the interaction between components, based on the RabbitMQ that implemented the Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP).

비접촉식 제스처 기반 3D 조형 태스크를 위한 다중 모달리티 인터페이스 디자인 연구 (Multi - Modal Interface Design for Non - Touch Gesture Based 3D Sculpting Task)

  • 본 연구는 비접촉식 제스처 기반 조형 태스크의 직관성 향상을 위한 다중 모달리티 인터페이스 디자인 GSS를 제안하였다. 디자인 조형 과정 및 조형 형태에 대한 사용자 경험을 조사한 후, 기술 발전에 따른 세대별 조형 시스템을 분석하였다. 또, 비접촉 3D 조형 시스템상에서의 조형 제작 프로세스, 조형 제작 환경, 제스처와 조형 태스크 간의 관계성, 자연스러운 손 조합 패턴과 사용자 손동작 요소들을 정의하였다. 이후, 기존 비접촉 3D 조형 시스템상에서 비접촉식 제스처 인터랙션을 관찰하고 자연스러운 조형 제작을 위해 조형 작성자의 행동체계가 반영된 인터페이스의 시각적 메타포와 자연스러운 제스처 인터랙션을 유도할 수 있는 행동적 메타포를 도출하였다. 프로토타입을 개발한 후, 제안된 주요 조형 태스크별 제스처 세트의 직관성을 알아보기 위해 기존 조형 시스템들과 비교하여 사용성 평가를 진행하였다. 제안된 GSS 시스템의 제스처는 이해도, 기억성, 오류율에서 우수성을 보였다. 제스처 인터페이스는 사용자의 경험에 기반한 시각적/행동적 메타포를 바탕으로 시각적 모달리티가 함께 사용된 제스처 인터페이스를 사용자들에게 제공되어야 한다는 것을 확인하였다.
