  • 유전 알고리즘은 자연의 진화 과정에 기초한 계산 모델로서 전역 최적화 결과를 제공할 수 있다. 변화율(gradient)을 기반으로 하는 방법들과는 달리, 민감도 해석이 요구되지 않으므로 민감도 해석이 어려운 전계(electric field)에서의 나노 단위 구조물의 형상 설계에 적합하다. 본 연구는 유전 알고리즘과 ON/OFF 방법을 기반으로 위상최적화를 수행하여 가시광선 영역에서 새로운 형태의 나노개구 설계를 목표로 하였다. 연구의 목적은 나노개구 아래10nm에 위치한 측정영역에서의 전계 투과효율(transmission rate)을 최대화하며, 동시에 다른 영역에서의 전계 분포를 최소화하는 것이다. 유한요소해석 및 최적화 과정은 상용 프로그램 COMSOl과 Matlab 프로그램의 연동에 의하여 수행되었다. 최적화 모델의 결과는 초기 모델과의 전계 강도 (electric field intensity) 및 근접장의 초점치수(spot size)를 비교하여 분석하였다.

The Effect of Serrated Fins on the Flow Around a Circular Cylinder

  • An experimental study is performed to investigate the characteristics of near wake flow behind a circular cylinder with serrated fins using a constant temperature anemometer and flow visualization. Various vortex shedding modes are observed. Fin height and pitch are closely related to the vortex shedding frequency after a certain transient Reynolds number. The through velocity across the fins decreases with increasing fin height and decreasing fin pitch. Vortex shedding is affected strongly by the velocity distribution just on top of the finned tube. The weaker gradient of velocity distribution is shown as increasing the freestream velocity and the fin height, while decreasing the fin pitch. The weaker velocity gradient delays the entrainment flow and weakens its strength. As a result of this phenomenon, vortex shedding is decreased. The effective diameter is defined as a virtual circular cylinder diameter taking into account the volume of fins, while the hydraulic diameter is proposed to cover the effect of friction by the fin surfaces. The Strouhal number based upon the effective diameters seems to correlate well with that of a circular cylinder without fins. After a certain transient Reynolds number, the trend of the Strouhal number can be estimated by checking the ratio of effective diameter to inner diameter. The normalized velocity and turbulent intensity distributions with the hydraulic diameter exhibit the best correlation with the circular cylinder's data.

  • 구름이 평지위의 난류속의 변화에 미치는 영향을 연구하기 위하여 스페인 빌라프리아 공항에 설치된 9 m 기상관측탑에서 얻은 역학 및 열역학 자료를 경도법으로 분석하였다. 일몰에 따른 표면 냉각은 표층 풍속을 감소시켰다. 현열속과 운동량속은 열역학적 인자 보다는 역학적 인자에 따라 증가하였고, 현열속은 열적인 조건에 영향을 받지 않았다. 구름이 존재하는 경우 전천일사량이 현열속 변화를 주도하지 못했고 대기 표층은 오히려 바람의 강도에 영향을 받았다.

미기압파에 의한 터널 출구 소음 저감을 위한 고속철도 터널 형상 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on Tunnel Entry Design Considering the Booming Noise Resulting from Micro-Pressure Wave)

  • In general, the booming noise intensity at tunnel exit is strongly related to the gradient of the compression wave front created by high speed train entering the tunnel. This paper presents some results in relation with the compression wave front produced when the high speed train enters a tunnel. Four kinds of tunnel entrance shape with real dimensions were studied to investigate the formation of compression wave front inside tunnel by train entering tunnel. Computations were carried out using three-dimensional compressible Euler equation with vanishing viscosity and conductivity of fluid. According to the results, the flow disturbances occured at tunnel entrance were eliminated by tunnel hood with same cross sectional area. The compression wave front is formed completely at 30-40m from tunnel entrance. The maximum pressure gradient of compression wave front is reduced by 29.8% for the inclined tunnel hood and reduced by 21.5% for the tunnel hood with holes at the top face with tunnel without hood. The length of the inclined hood is 15m and the length of the hood with holes is 20m.

분말활성탄 접촉조의 맛·냄새 및 유기물 제거 효율 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC) Contactor for the Removal of Organics and Taste and Odor)

  • In order to evaluate the performance of a powdered activated carbon (PAC) contactor, two water treatment plants (WTP) were selected as target sites. The result of tracer tests showed that the plug flow portion of a bisymmetry-type contactor (H WTP) was more than 70%. A maze-type contactor (C WTP) also had more than 70% of plug flow portion after intra-basin baffles were installed. According to the operating data of the target WTPs, there was no clear evidence that the addition of PAC contributed to the removal of organics. However, the results of jar tests, conducted with the raw water taken from the H WTP, proved that PAC could remove dissolved organic carbon (DOC) to some extent when the proper velocity gradient was maintained. It was estimated that the production rate, defined as the ratio of the operating flowrate to the design flowrate, of the C and H WTPs was only 27 and 50%, respectively. Because of these lower production rates, the mixing intensity in the contactor was much less than the designed value and, finally, the performance of the PAC contactor was much lower than what was expected.

  • The effect of thermal stratification on the stratified flow past a circular cylinder was examined in a wind tunnel. Turbulent intensities, the rms values of temperature and turbulent convective heat flux as well as the velocity and temperature profiles in the cylinder wake with a strong thermal gradient of $200^{\circ}C/m$ were measured by using a hot-wire and cold-wire combination probe. It is found that the temperature field affects as an active contaminant, so that the vertical growth of vortical structure is suppressed and the strouhal number decreases with increasing the extent of stratification. And also, the wake structure can not sustain their symmetricity about the wake centerline and vertical turbulent motion dissipates faster than that of the neutral case when such a strong thermal gradient is superimposed. It is evident that the turbulent mixing in the upper half section is stronger than that of the lower of the wake in a stably stratified flow because the turbulent intensities and convective heat flux in the upper half section are larger than those of the lower half of the wake.

  • The influence of magnetic field on propane and acetylene diffusion flames have been experimentally investigated using an electromagnetic system. Periodically induced magnetic field having various frequencies and duty ratios was established in square wave form. The maximum intensity and gradient of magnetic field were 1.3 T and 0.27 T/mm, respectively. The width of a propane flame was reduced up to 4.5% and the brightness was enhanced up to 25% when the magnetic field was induced. The soot emission from an acetylene flame was ceased when magnetic field was induced. The alteration of flow field, which is due to the paramagnetic characteristics of oxygen molecule, is most likely to be responsible for the change in flame size and brightness. The effect of magnetic field on diffusion flames, which competes with the gravitational effect, was more apparent from a smaller size flame. The magnetic field effect, therefore, could be important under microgravity conditions. Since the time required to alter the flow field must be finite, the magnetic field effect is likely to be less significant for a periodically oscillating magnetic field at a high frequency or having a small duty ratio.

  • 함수구배재료에서 구배방향을 따라 전파하는 천이모드 III 균열에 대한 일반적인 탄성해를 근접해법으로 얻었다. 함수구배재료의 전단계수 및 밀도는 구배방향을 따라 지수형적으로 변화한다고 가정하였다. 균열선단의 응력과 변위장은 응력확대계수 및 균열선단속도의 시간변화율에 의존하는 계수들을 갖는 방사상 좌표계의 누승으로 얻었다. 비균질성과 천이계수들이 응력 및 변위장의 고차항에 미치는 영향에 대하여 토론하였다.

  • 도열병균(Pyricularia oryzae) 균사체의 esterase 동위효소 pattern이 배양조건에 의하여 변화되는가를 $10\~25\%$ polyacrylamide gradient slab gel을 사용하여 알아보았다. 배양기간에 따라 배양 24일까지 동위효소 pattern은 변하지 않았지만 특징 band의 효소량에는 차이가 있었다. 탄소원(glucose, fructose, maltose, sucrose, starch), 단포자분리균주간, 계대배양 및 세포벽재생균주간의 동위효소 pattern은 변함이 없었다.
