This paper is within the framework of an adhered complete contact problem wherein the contact between a half plane and sharp edged indenter, both of which are elastic in character, is constituted. The eigensolutions of the contact shear and normal stresses, σrq and σq, respectively, are evaluated via asymptotic analysis. The ratio of σrq/σqq is investigated and compared with the coefficient of friction, μ, of the contact surface to observe the propensity to slip on the contact surface. Interestingly, there exists a region of |σrθ/σθθ| ≥ |μ|. Thus, slipping can occur, although the problem is solved under the condition of an adhered contact without slipping. Given that a tribological failure potentially occurs at the slipping region, it is important to determine the size of the slipping region. This aspect is also factored in the paper. A simple example of the adhered contact between two elastically dissimilar squares is considered. Finite element analysis is used to evaluate generalized stress intensity factors. Furthermore, it is repeatedly observed that slipping occurs on the contact surface although the size of it is extremely small compared with that of the contacting squares. Therefore, as a contribution to the field of contact mechanics, this problem must be further explained logically.

For BEM analyses of the impact problems of dissimilar materials, the connected multi-region method using perfect bonded conditions on the interface boundaries was added to two-dimensional Laplace transformed-domain BEM program for a single region analysis. It was confirmed that the BEM results of impact problems of a single-region and multi-regions for a homogeneous isotropic material are agreed well. The two-dimensional Laplace transformed-domain BEM program combined with connected multi-region method was applied to analyse several impact problems of dissimilar materials. Also the feasibility of BEM impact analyses was investigated for dissimilar materials by the analysis of the BEM results for impact problems of dissimilar materials in terms of physical aspects. As for an application, the two-dimensional Laplace transformed BEM concerning impact problems of cracks at the interface of dissimilar materials and the determinating process of the dynamic stress intensity factors by extrapolation method are presented in this paper.

In this study, the property of crack propagation and growth at high tension steel plate existed with center crack is investigated. The behaviors of fracture mechanics due to existence or not of hole near the center crack in specimen and the length of crack length are investigated when the load is applied at the one side end of specimen. Stress, deformation and deformation of this specimen are evaluated through simulation analysis. By the analysis results at this study, stress intensity factors are obtained. The damage happened at machine or structure with crack or defect can be estimated on the basis of study results.
The Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) based seismic fragility analysis (SFA) approach allows defining more realistic relationship between failure probability and seismic intensity. However, the approach requires simulating large number of nonlinear dynamic analyses of structure for reliable estimate of fragility. It makes the approach computationally challenging. The response surface method (RSM) based metamodeling approach which replaces computationally involve complex mechanical model of a structure is found to be a viable alternative in this regard. An adaptive moving least squares method (MLSM) based RSM in the MCS framework is explored in the present study for efficient SFA of existing structures. In doing so, the repetition of seismic intensity for complete generation of fragility curve is avoided by including this as one of the predictors in the response estimate model. The proposed procedure is elucidated by considering a non-linear SDOF system and an existing reinforced concrete frame considered to be located in the Guwahati City of the Northeast region of India. The fragility results are obtained by the usual least squares based and the proposed MLSM based RSM and compared with that of obtained by the direct MCS technique to study the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
The inspiratory flow rate of a human is changed with the amount of the workload. The flow characteristic is affected by the inspiratory flow rate. In the flow field of airway, the both of turbulence intensity and secondary flow affect the deposition pattern of particles which is important for the drug-aerosol targeting. Thus the analysis of the flow characteristic in a human airway is important. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the inspiratory flow rate on the flow characteristics in a human airway. The tubular airway is consistent with the oral cavity, pharynx, larynx and trachea. The relatively inspiratory flow rate is used at each case of human states regarding the workload. By the effect of geometric airway changes, transition to turbulent airflow after the larynx can occur with relaminarization further downstream. The low Reynolds number k-${\omega}$ turbulence model is used for analysis with flow regime. As the inspiratory flow rate is larger, the turbulence kinetic energy and secondary flow intensity increase in airway. On the other hand, the area of recirculation zone is smaller.

Aviation obstacle lights including controller for the safe night aviation service have applied to high voltage transmission line of which height is from $60{\sim}180 m$, Fresnel lens made by Augustine Fresnel have been applied to light houses, These Fresnel lens were applied to aviation obstacle lights and have been universally used, It was reported that Fresnel lens for aviation obstacle light was used in the first place in Korea in 1987, LEDs have recently been applied to aviation obstacle lights, So, the optimum physical design is essential to the design of aviation obstacle light. In this study, optical and three dimensional modeling of LED module and globe lens were performed, And thermal analysis due to LED thermal source and service thermal condition in high voltage transmission line was performed and was analyzed comparing with experiments, The optimum design process of medium intensity LED aviation obstacle lights was constructed with three dimensional modeling, thermal analysis, and thermal experimental technique.
This study analyzed influence factors and the correlation among pollutants which affect occurrence of leaked pollution based on the long-term runoff flow and water quality investigation results to understand the characteristics of highway rainfall runoff pollution load. According to the result of correlation analysis on TSS (Total Suspended Solid) concentration, anteceded dry days, rainfall intensity, traffic volume and etc. as major influence factors of highway rainfall runoff pollution loads, the correlations were weak or scarce in most items. These results might be attributed that runoff pollutant concentration changes vary severely on changes of rainfall intensity and rainfall duration within rainfall and it is affected by disturbances of vehicles and street cleaning and etc. as characteristics of the highway. While Cu, Fe and Zn which are discharged with high concentrations out of heavy metals showed high correlation with particulate matter, organic matter(COD), nutrient(TN, TP), Ni and Pb showed relatively low correlation in a correlation evaluation by pollutant. Significant correlation with traffic volumes was not shown and TSS concentration even decreased in accordance with increase of the traffic volume. In the comparison with precedent studies, it was considered necessary additional analysis of the effects of rainfall section analysis, road type, disturbances of surface contaminants by vehicles, rainfall and climate conditions, surrounding terrains etc.

An electrostatic ink jet head can be used for manufacturing processes of large display systems and printed circuit boards (PCB) as well as inkjet printers because an electrostatic field provides an external force which can be manipulated to control sizes of droplets. The existing printing methods such as thermal bubble and piezo inkjet heads have shown difficulties to control the ejection of the droplets for printing applications. Thus, the new inkjet head using the electrostatic force has been proposed in this study. In order to prove the theory of the developed electrostatic ink jet head, the applicable and basic theory has been studied using distilled water and water with sodium dodecyl surfate (SDS). Also, a numerical analysis has been performed to calculate the intensity of the electrostatic field using the Maxwell's equation. Furthermore, experiments have been carried out using a downward glass capillary with outside diameter of $500{\mu}m$. The gravity, surface tension, and electrostatic force have been analyzed with high voltages of 0 to 5kV. It has been observed that the droplet size decreases and the frequency of the droplet formation and the velocity of the droplet ejection increase with increasing the intensity of the electrostatic field. The results of the experiments have shown good agreement with those of numerical analysis.

The extension of design life among power plants is increasingly becoming a world-wide trend. Kori #1 unit in Korea is operating two cycle. It has two man-ways for tube inspection in a steam generator which is one of the important components in a nuclear power plant. Especially, stud bolts fur man-way cover have damaged by disassembly and assembly several times and degradation for bolt materials for long term operation. It should be evaluated and compared by ASME Code criteria for integrity evaluation. Integrity evaluation criteria which has been made by the manufacturer is not applied on the stud bolts of nuclear pressure vessels directly because it is controlled by the yield stress of ASME Code. It can apply evaluation criteria through FEM analysis to damaged female threads and to evaluated safety fer helical-coil method which is used according to Code Case-N-496-1. From analysis results, we found .that it is the same results between stress intensity which got from FEM analysis on damaged female threads over 10% by manufacture integrity criteria and 2/3 yield strength criteria on ASME Code. It was also confirmed that the helical-coil repair method would be safe.
The psbC gene, encoding the intrinsic chlorophyll-binding protein of CP43, one of the PS core complex polypeptides, was cloned from the Panax ginseng chloroplast, which is composed of 1,422 nucleotides and the overall nucleotide sequence shows more than 84% identity to those of eukaryotic photosynthetic organisms. The predicted topology of CP43, based on hydropathy analysis, includes six membrane-spanning ${\alpha}-helices$ resulting in three lumenal and four stromal loops. The putative translation start codon for the psbC gene is located at 48 nucleotides upstream from the stop codon of the psbD gene whose product is also a component of the PSII reaction center, implying that the promoter of the psbC gene is possibly located in the middle of the structural gene of the psbD gene. Northern blot analysis of the in vivo accumulation of the psbC transcript from the plants grown under the various growth light intensities (5%, 10%, 20%, and 100%) of daylight indicated that the steady-state level of the psbC transcript was not significantly affected by light intensity.
