In this paper, the intelligent vision system for an effective and intelligent path-planning of an industrial AGV system based on stereo camera system is proposed. The depth information and disparity map are detected in the inputting images of a parallel stereo camera. The distance between the industrial AGV system and the obstacle detected and the 2D Path coordinates obtained from the location coordinates, and then the relative distance between the obstacle and the other objects obtained from them. The industrial AGV system move automatically by effective and intelligent path-planning using the obtained 2D path coordinates. From some experiments on AGV system driving with the stereo images, it is analyzed that error ratio between the calculated and measured values of the distance between the objects is found to be very low value of 2.5% on average, respectably.

AGV for FMS must be detected an obstacle. Therefore, many studies have been advanced, and recently, the ultra sonic sensor is used for this. However, the new method has to be developed because the ultra-sonic-sensor has many problems as a noise in factory, an directional error and detection of the obstacle size. So, we study the fast stereo vision system that can give more information to obstacles for intelligent AGV system. For this, the simulated AGV system was made with two CCD cameras in front to get the stereo images, and the threshold process by color information (intensity and chromaticity) and structure stereo matching method were constructed.

The current VIPS are not effective in safety point of view, because they are originally developed for mimicking loop detectors. Therefore, it is important to identify vehicle trajectories in real time, because recognizing vehicle movements over a detection zone enables to identify which situations are hazardous, and what causes them to be hazardous. In order to improve limited safety functions of the current VIPS, this research has developed a computer vision system of monitoring individual vehicle trajectories based on image processing, and offer the detailed information, for example, incident detection and conflict as well as traffic information via tracking image detectors. This system is capable of recognizing individual vehicle maneuvers and increasing the effectiveness of various traffic situations. Experiments were conducted for measuring the cases of incident detection and abnormal vehicle trajectory with rapid lane change.
One of the important functions of an Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is to classify vehicle types using a vision system. We propose a method using machine-learning algorithms for this classification problem with 3-D object model fitting. It is also necessary to detect road lanes from a fixed traffic surveillance camera in preparation for model fitting. We apply a background mask and line analysis algorithm based on statistical measures to Hough Transform (HT) in order to remove noise and false positive road lanes. The results show that this method is quite efficient in terms of quality.

Lane Sensing techniques based on vision sensors are regarded promising because they require little infrastructure on the highway except clear lane markers. However, they require more intelligent processing algorithms in vehicles to generate the previewed roadway from the vision images. In this paper, a lane sensing algorithm using vision sensors is developed to improve the sensing robustness. The parallel stereo-camera is utilized to regenerate the 3-dimensional road geometry. The lane geometry models are derived such that their parameters represent the road curvature, lateral offset and heading angle, respectively. The parameters of the lane geometry models are estimated by the Kalman filter and utilized to reconstruct the lane geometry in the global coordinate. The inverse perspective mapping from the image plane to the global coordinate considers roll and pitch motions of a vehicle so that the mapping error is minimized during acceleration, braking or steering. The proposed sensing system has been built and implemented on a 1/10-scale model car.

The current collision warning and avoidance system(CWAS) is one of the representative Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that significantly contributes to improve the safety performance of a vehicle and mitigate the severity of an accident. However, current CWAS mainly have focused on preventing a forward collision in an uninterrupted flow, and the prevention performance near intersections and other various types of accident scenarios are not extensively studied. In this paper, the safety performance of Vision-Sensor (VS) and Radar-Sensor(RS) - based collision warning systems are evaluated near an intersection area with the data from Naturalistic Driving Study(NDS) of Second Strategic Highway Research Program(SHRP2). Based on the VS and RS data, we newly derived sixteen vehicle-to-vehicle accident scenarios near an intersection. Then, we evaluated the detection performance of VS and RS within the derived scenarios. The results showed that VS and RS can prevent an accident in limited situations due to their restrained field-of-view. With an accident prevention rate of 0.7, VS and RS can prevent an accident in five and four scenarios, respectively. For an efficient accident prevention, a different system that can detect vehicles'movement with longer range than VS and RS is required as well as an algorithm that can predict the future movement of other vehicles. In order to further improve the safety performance of CWAS near intersection areas, a communication-based collision warning system such as integration algorithm of data from infrastructure and in-vehicle sensor shall be developed.

Due to the significant increase in the use of autonomous car technology, it is essential to integrate this technology with high-precision digital map data containing more precise and accurate roadway information, as compared to existing conventional map resources, to ensure the safety of self-driving operations. While existing map technologies may assist vehicles in identifying their locations via Global Positioning System, it is however difficult to update the environmental changes of roadways in these maps. Roadway vision algorithms can be useful for building autonomous vehicles that can avoid accidents and detect real-time location changes. We incorporate a hybrid architectural design that combines unsupervised classification of vision data with supervised joint fusion classification to achieve a better noise-resistant algorithm. We identify, via a deep learning approach, an intelligent hybrid fusion algorithm for fusing multimodal vision feature data for roadway classifications and characterize its improvement in accuracy over unsupervised identifications using image processing and supervised vision classifiers. We analyzed over 93,000 vision frame data collected from a test vehicle in real roadways. The performance indicators of the proposed hybrid fusion algorithm are successfully evaluated for the generation of roadway digital maps for autonomous vehicles, with a recall of 0.94, precision of 0.96, and accuracy of 0.92.

In recent years, video detection systems have been implemented in various infrastructures such as airport, public transportation, power generation system, water dam and so on. Recognizing moving objects in video sequence is an important problem in computer vision, with applications in several fields, such as video surveillance and target tracking. Segmentation and tracking of multiple vehicles in crowded situations is made difficult by inter-object occlusion. In the system described in this paper, the mean shift algorithm is firstly used to filter and segment a color vehicle image in order to get candidate regions. These candidate regions are then analyzed and classified in order to decide whether a candidate region contains a license plate or not. And then some characters in the license plate is recognized by using the fuzzy ARTMAP neural network, which is a relatively new architecture of the neural network family and has the capability to learn incrementally unlike the conventional BP network. We finally design a license plate recognition system using the mean shift algorithm and fuzzy ARTMAP neural network and show its performance via some computer simulations.

In this paper, we present a collaborative method for material delivery using a distributed vehicle agents system. Generally used AGV(Autonomous Guided Vehicle) systems in FA require extraordinary facilities like guidepaths and landmarks and have numerous limitations for application in different environments. Moreover in the case of controlling multi vehicles, the necessity for developing corporation abilities like loading and unloading materials between vehicles including different types is increasing nowadays for automation of material flow. Thus to compensate and improve the functions of AGV, it is important to endow vehicles with the intelligence to recognize environments and goods and to determine the goal point to approach. In this study we propose an interaction method between hetero-type vehicles and adaptive fuzzy logic controllers for sensor-based path planning methods and material identifying methods which recognizes color. For the purpose of carrying materials to the goal, simple color sensor is used instead vision system to search for material and recognize its color in order to determine the goal point to transfer it to. The proposed method reaveals a great deal of improvement on its performance.
