Human Tracking Based On Context Awareness In Outdoor Environment

  • The intelligent monitoring system has been successfully applied in many fields such as: monitoring of production lines, transportation, etc. Smart surveillance systems have been developed and proven effective in some specific areas such as monitoring of human activity, traffic, etc. Most of critical application monitoring systems involve object tracking as one of the key steps. However, task of tracking of moving object is not easy. In this paper, the authors propose a method to implement human object tracking in outdoor environment based on human features in shearlet domain. The proposed method uses shearlet transform which combines the human features with context-sensitiveness in order to improve the accuracy of human tracking. The proposed algorithm not only improves the edge accuracy, but also reduces wrong positions of the object between the frames. The authors validated the proposed method by calculating Euclidean distance and Mahalanobis distance values between centre of actual object and centre of tracked object, and it has been found that the proposed method gives better result than the other recent available methods.

  • Vehicular networks play an important role in current intelligent transportation networks and have gained much attention from academia and industry. Vehicular networks can be enhanced by Long Term Evolution-Vehicle (LTE-V) technology, which has been defined in a series of standards by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). LTE-V technology is a systematic and integrated V2X solution. To guarantee secure LTE-V communication, security and privacy issues must be addressed before the network is deployed. The present study aims to improve the security functionality of vehicular LTE networks by proposing an efficient and secure ID-based message authentication scheme for vehicular networks, named the ESMAV. We demonstrate its ability to simultaneously support both mutual authentication and privacy protection. In addition, the ESMAV exhibit better performance in terms of overhead computation, communication cost, and security functions, which includes privacy preservation and non-frameability.

  • In this paper, unmanned vehicle system and VFF algorithm development with vehicle dynamics is the main topic as a part of Intelligent Transportation System. Unmanned vehicle system is classified by vehicle system and control system. Authors used RC servo motor for longitudinal control via throttle angle, shift lever control, and brake control. For lateral control, authors used step motor, equipped with reduction gear. Unmanned vehicle has nine ultrasonic sensors in front of the unmanned vehicle. After the microcontroller computes the distance between unmanned vehicle and obstacle, the control computer calculates the steering angle enough to avoid the obstacle.

  • Context-awareness techniques in ubiquitous computing environment provide various services to users who need to get information via the analysis of collected information from sensors in a spatial area. Context-awareness has been increased in ubiquitous computing and is applied to many different applications such as disaster management system, intelligent robot system, transportation management system, shopping management system, and digital home service. Many researches have recently focused on services that provide the appropriate information, which are collected from Internet by different kinds of sensors, to users according to context of their surrounding environment. In this paper, we propose an abstraction model to manage the large-scale contextual information and their metadata which are collected from different kinds of in-situ sensors in a spatial area and are presented them on the web. This model is composed of the modules expressing functional elements of sensors using sensorML(Sensor Model Language) based on XML language and the modules managing contextual information, which is transmitted from the sensors.

  • 지능형교통시스템(Intelligent Transportation System: ITS)의 기술발전에 따라 고속도로 상에도 각종 검지 센서가 설치되고 교통정보가 다양한 형태로 제공되고 있으며, 전자요금징수시스템(Electronic Toll Collection System: ETCS) 또한 시범운영단계를 마치고 모든 고속도로를 대상으로 확대적용을 준비 중에 있다. 본 논문에서는 ITS 관련시스템 중 고속도로를 대상으로 적용되는 전자요금징수시스템과 유고관리 시스템을 대상으로 수행되었던 시뮬레이션 사례를 소개하고, ITS 분야에서의 시뮬레이션 적용 필요성에 대해서 논의하고자 한다. 전자요금징수시스템을 대상으로 한 시뮬레이션의 경우 현재 시범운영중인 영업소를 대상으로 향후 다양한 요금지불수단 도입에 따른 효과적인 영업소 운영방안을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 개발되었으며, 운전자들의 영업소 차로선택모형 등에 대한 사전연구를 통하여 모델링에 반영하였다. 또한, 고속도로 유고관리시스템의 경우 사고 직후 사고영향에 대한 실시간 시뮬레이션을 수행하여 지체지속시간 및 지체영향구간을 예측하여, 향후 교통정보제공에 활용하는 것을 목적으로 개발되었다. 개발된 시뮬레이션 모델을 통하여 각종운영방안에 대한 평가를 수행하였으며, 실제 유고상황에서의 검지자료와의 비교를 통하여 성능평가를 수행하였다.

Improvement of Multivariable, Nonlinear, and Overdispersion Modeling with Deep Learning: A Case Study on Prediction of Vehicle Fuel Consumption Rate (딥러닝을 이용한 다변량, 비선형, 과분산 모델링의 개선: 자동차 연료소모량 예측)

  • PURPOSES : This study aims to improve complex modeling of multivariable, nonlinear, and overdispersion data with an artificial neural network that has been a problem in the civil and transport sectors. METHODS: Deep learning, which is a technique employing artificial neural networks, was applied for developing a large bus fuel consumption model as a case study. Estimation characteristics and accuracy were compared with the results of conventional multiple regression modeling. RESULTS : The deep learning model remarkably improved estimation accuracy of regression modeling, from R-sq. 18.76% to 72.22%. In addition, it was very flexible in reflecting large variance and complex relationships between dependent and independent variables. CONCLUSIONS : Deep learning could be a new alternative that solves general problems inherent in conventional statistical methods and it is highly promising in planning and optimizing issues in the civil and transport sectors. Extended applications to other fields, such as pavement management, structure safety, operation of intelligent transport systems, and traffic noise estimation are highly recommended.

  • 지능형 교통 시스템(ITS. Intelligent Transportation System)은 도로, 차량, 신호시스템 등 기본 교통체계의 구성요소에 첨단 정보통신 기술을 접목함으로써 교통시설의 기반구조에 대해 지능화와 첨단화를 꾀하고자 하는 차세대 교통체계로 우리 나라가 처한 교통 환경의 실태와 기존 교통체계의 문제점을 고려할 때 당면한 교통 문제를 해결해 줄 수 있는 유력한 방안으로 여겨진다. ITS는 운전자 혹은 도로 교통 시스템에 각종 응용 서비스를 제공하게 되는데 이를 위해서는 도로변에 위치하는 기지국 등의 ITS 기반 요소들과 도로를 운행 중인 차량간의 빠르고 정확한 정보교환이 가능해야 한다. 정보교환을 위한 통신 기술 중 하나인 DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication)는 저출력의 양방향 통신 특성을 갖고 ITS가 제공하는 대부분의 서비스에 다양하게 적용될 수 있으므로 효과적인 ITS의 구축과 빠른 확산을 위해 필수적인 기술로 간주되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 DSRC를 기반으로 하는 ITS통신망의 구조 정립에 대해 논하고 있다. 효과적인 ITS 서비스를 위해서는 물리적 통신망은 물론 통신망을 구성하고 있는 각 요소들과 관련되어있는 정보시스템들이 동시에 연구되어야 하므로 ISCNA(Information Systems and Communication Networks Architecture) 준거모형에 의한 접근을 하였다. 세부적인 측면으로는 서버 시스템의 구조, 서버와 서버간, 서버와 노변 기지국, 노변 기지국과 차량 단말 간의 통신망 구조 정립에 대해 살펴보았다.

DRIVER BEHAVIOR WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

  • As an important and relatively easy to implement technology for realizing Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS), Adaptive Cruise Control(ACC) automatically adjusts vehicle speed and distance to a preceding vehicle, thus enhancing driver comfort and safety. One of the key issues associated with ACC development is usability and user acceptance. Control parameters in ACC should be optimized in such a way that the system does not conflict with driving behavior of the driver and further that the driver feels comfortable with ACC. A driving simulator is a comprehensive research tool that can be applied to various human factor studies and vehicle system development in a safe and controlled environment. This study investigated driving behavior with ACC for drivers with different driving styles using the driving simulator. The ACC simulation system was implemented on the simulator and its performance was evaluated first. The Driving Style Questionnaire(DSQ) was used to classify the driving styles of the drivers in the simulator experiment. The experiment results show that, when driving with ACC, preferred headway-time was 1.5 seconds regardless of the driving styles, implying consistency in driving speed and safe distance. However, the lane keeping ability reduced, showing the larger deviation in vehicle lateral position and larger head and eye movement. It is suggested that integration of ACC and lateral control can enhance driver safety and comfort even further.

  • In this paper, we investigated performance for 5.8 GHz dedicated short range communication system using OFDM which will be applied to Intelligent transportation system services. We analyzed modulation technique and interference cancellation method to improve performance in physical layer. We presented channel model to estimate performance between Roadside Unit and Onboard Unit. finally, We calculated the link budget of entire system which analyzed performance of channel according to transmission power, presented the adaptive modulation using pilot signal and RSSI algorithm is proposed.

  • 기존 교통체계에 첨단 IT 기술을 접목한 ITS(Intelligent Transportation System)는 텔레매틱스 기술과 더불어 현대인에게 편리한 교통 환경 및 정보를 제공하고 있다. 하지만 자동차의 안전성 향상에 대한 만족도가 부족한 상황에서 첨단 통신, 제어 및 센싱 기술을 활용하여 운전자 및 도로 이용자의 안전성, 운전효율성 및 편리성을 향상시키는 차세대 스마트 자동차 서비스 개발이 진행되고 있다. 해외 업체들은 차량간 통신 기술인 WAVE 관련 부품, 플랫폼, 플랫폼 및 안전 서비스를 개발하고 있다. 국내 ITS 업체들도 관련 기술 확보 및 제품 개발을 추진하고 있지만 국내에는 WAVE용 주파수가 할당되어 있지 않다. 본 연구에서는 국내 WAVE 주파수 할당 여부를 판단하기 위해 필요한 기초 자료인 ITS 관련 표준화 동향, 국내외 ITS용 주파수 할당 현황, 국내 WAVE 주파수 할당시 문제점, 국내외 WAVE 관련 산업 동향을 조사하였다. 본 연구 결과는 방송통신위원회에서 국내 WAVE 주파수 할당 여부 및 할당시 주파수 대역을 결정하는데 참고가 될 수 있을 것이다.
