Design and Implementation of IoT-Based Intelligent Platform for Water Level Monitoring (IoT 기반 지능형 수위 모니터링 플랫폼 설계 및 구현)

  • The main objective of this study was to assess the applicability of IoT (Internet of Things)-based flood management under climate change by developing intelligent water level monitoring platform based on IoT. In this study, Arduino Uno was selected as the development board, which is an open-source electronic platform. Arduino Uno was designed to connect the ultrasonic sensor, temperature sensor, and data logger shield for implementing IoT. Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment) was selected as the Arduino software and used to develop the intelligent algorithm to measure and calibrate the real-time water level automatically. The intelligent water level monitoring platform consists of water level measurement, temperature calibration, data calibration, stage-discharge relationship, and data logger algorithms. Water level measurement and temperature calibration algorithm corrected the bias inherent in the ultrasonic sensor. Data calibration algorithm analyzed and corrected the outliers during the measurement process. The verification of the intelligent water level measurement algorithm was performed by comparing water levels using the tape and ultrasonic sensor, which was generated by measuring water levels at regular intervals up to the maximum level. The statistics of the slope of the regression line and $R^2$ were 1.00 and 0.99, respectively which were considered acceptable. The error was 0.0575 cm. The verification of data calibration algorithm was performed by analyzing water levels containing all error codes in a time series graph. The intelligent platform developed in this study may contribute to the public IoT service, which is applicable to intelligent flood management under climate change.

A Concept Model Design of a Home Automation System Using Intelligent Mobile Robot (지능형 이동 로봇을 이용한 홈오토메이션 시스템 모델 제안 및 구현)

  • This paper proposes the system model that is more efficient and active than formal home automation system and it can conquer the limits of formal one using intelligent mobile robot. This system uses specialized intelligent mobile robot for home environment and the robot moves around home instead of human. We call the system model to HAuPIRS (Home Automation system using PDA based Intelligent Robot System). HAuPIRS control architecture is composed three parts and each part is User Level, Cognitive Level, Executive Level. It is easy to use system and possible to extend the home apparatusfrom new technology. We made the PBMoRo System (PDA Based Mobile Robot System) based on HAuPIRS architecture and verified the efficiency of the system model.

Natural Language Query Framework on the Semantic Web

  • This study proposes a Natural Language Query Framework (NLQF) on the semantic web to support the intelligent deduction at semantic level. A large number of former researches are focused on the knowledge representation on the semantic web. However, to revitalize the intelligent agent (IA)-based automated e-business contract with human customers, there is a need for semantic level approach to the web information. To enable accessing web information at semantic level, this paper discusses the pattern of complex natural language processing at first, and then the semantic web-based natural language inference in e-business environment. The NL-based approach could help the IAs on the web to communicate with customers and other IAs with more natural interface than traditional HTML-based web information. Therefore, our proposed NLQF will be used in semantic web-based intelligent e-business contracts between customers and IAs.

A Study on Intelligent Railway Level Crossing System for Accident Prevention

  • Accidents at level crossing have large portion on train accidents, and causes economical loss by train delay and operational interruption. Various safety equipments are employed to reduce the accident at level crossing, but existing warning device, and crossing barrier are simple train-oriented protection equipments. In this paper, intelligent railway level crossing system is proposed to prevent and reduce accidents. For train driver's prompt action, image of level crossing and obstacle warning message are continuously provided to train driver through wireless communication in level crossing control zone. Obstacle warning messages, which are extracted by computer vision processing of captured image at level crossing, are recognized by train driver through message color, flickering and warning sound. It helps train driver to decide how to take an action. Meanwhile, for vehicle driver's attention, location and speed of approaching train are given to roadside equipments. We identified the effect of proposed system through test installation at Sea train and Airport level crossing of Yeong-dong line.

  • 본 논문은 최근 잡음 제거에서 우수한 성능을 보인 Nested U-Net의 성능을 최적화하기 위하여 두 단계로 이루어진 two-level skip connection (TLS)을 제안하였다. 이때, 인코더와 디코더의 경로를 다르게 하여 다양한 형태의 TLS을 제안하고 각 형태의 성능을 비교 평가하였다. 또한, 가장 좋은 성능을 보인 두 개의 경로를 조합하여 최종 Nested U-Net 기반 모델을 제안하였다. 제안된 모델은 다른 잡음 제거 모델과 비교하여 객관적인 평가 지표에서 매우 우수한 성능을 보인다.

Efficient Eye Location for Biomedical Imaging using Two-level Classifier Scheme

  • We present a novel method for eye location by means of a two-level classifier scheme. Locating the eye by machine-inspection of an image or video is an important problem for Computer Vision and is of particular value to applications in biomedical imaging. Our method aims to overcome the significant challenge of an eye-location that is able to maintain high accuracy by disregarding highly variable changes in the environment. A first level of computational analysis processes this image context. This is followed by object detection by means of a two-class discrimination classifier(second algorithmic level).We have tested our eye location system using FERET and BioID database. We compare the performance of two-level classifier with that of non-level classifier, and found it's better performance.

  • This paper introduces a new model for forecasting groundwater level on the basis of analysing defect of finite element method. The new model is built with fuzzy sets and neural networks. It is convenient for use. We computed the groundwater level of one city in P. R. China with it and got a very satisfactory result. It can be popularized to corecast groundwater level of mine.

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of an intelligent controller for continuous casting process. The proposed controller adopted a fuzzy control with feedback linearization. The simulation result shows that proposed intelligent controller is superior to the conventional PID controller.

  • In this paper, we propose a intelligent controller design method for the water level control of the power plant drum in the form of nonminimum phase system. The proposed method is based on T. Takagi and M. Sugeno's fuzzy model. And we illustrate the improved characteristics as the simulation results, comparing with the conventional the PID and LQ controller design method.
