  • In this paper, we introduced design of intelligent surveillance camera system and typical event processing scenario for urban transit. To analyze video, we studied events that frequently occur in surveillance camera system. Event processing scenario is designed for seven representative situations(designated area intrusion, object abandon, object removal in designated area, object tracking, loitering and congestion measurement) in urban transit. Our system is optimized for low hardware complexity, real time processing and scenario dependent solution.

  • Because of the development of computers and high-technology applications, all devices that we use have become more intelligent. In recent years, security and surveillance systems have become more complicated as well. Before new technologies included video surveillance systems, security cameras were used only for recording events as they occurred, and a human had to analyze the recorded data. Nowadays, computers are used for video analytics, and video surveillance systems have become more autonomous and automated. The types of security cameras have also changed, and the market offers different kinds of cameras with integrated software. Even though there is a variety of hardware, their capabilities leave a lot to be desired. Therefore, this drawback is trying to compensate by dint of computer program solutions. Image processing is a very important part of video surveillance and security systems. Capturing an image exactly as it appears in the real world is difficult if not impossible. There is always noise to deal with. This is caused by the graininess of the emulsion, low resolution of the camera sensors, motion blur caused by movements and drag, focus problems, depth-of-field issues, or the imperfect nature of the camera lens. This paper reviews image processing, pattern recognition, and image digitization techniques, which will be useful in security services, to analyze bio-images, for image restoration, and for object classification.

  • The current video surveillance system is the third generation, and the video device has developed from low image quality to high image quality. The video surveillance solution has improved from the simple type to the intelligent type. However, as the equipment and technology for these video surveillance systems become more complicated and diversified, they are increasingly dependent on infrastructure, such as faster network speed and stable power supply. On the other hand, there is a growing need for video surveillance in areas where basic infrastructure is limited, such as power and communications. In this paper, we propose a system that can support intelligent video surveillance in a region where basic infrastructure is limited.

  • In this paper, we propose a video-based intelligent unmanned fire surveillance system using fuzzy color models. In general, to detect heat or smoke, a separate device is required for a fire surveillance system, this system, however, can be implemented by using widely used CCTV, which does not need separate devices and extra cost. The systems called video-based fire surveillance systems use mainly a method extracting smoke or flame from an input image only. The smoke is difficult to extract at night because of its gray-scale color, and the flame color depends on the temperature, the inflammable, the size of flame, etc, which makes it hard to extract the flame region from the input image. This paper deals with a intelligent fire surveillance system which is robust against the variation of the flame color, especially at night. The proposed system extracts the moving object from the input image, makes a decision whether the object is the flame or not by means of the color obtained by fuzzy color model and the shape obtained by histogram, and issues a fire alarm when the flame is spread. Finally, we verify the efficiency of the proposed system through the experiment of the controlled real fire.

  • Due to the development and market expansion of image analysis and recognition technology, video security such as CCTV cameras and digital storage devices, are required for real-time monitoring systems and intelligent video security systems. This includes the development of more advanced technologies. A rotatable PTZ camera, in a CCTV camera system, has a zoom function so you can acquire a precise picture. However it can cause blind spots, and can not monitor two or more moving objects at the same time. This study concerns, the intelligent tracking of multiple moving objects, CCTV systems, and methods of video surveillance. An intelligent video surveillance system is proposed. It can accurately shoot broad areas and track multiple objects at the same time, much more effectively than using one fixed camera for an entire area or two or more PTZ cameras.

  • When a video surveillance system tracks a specific object, it is very important to get quickly the information of the object through fast image processing. Usually one camera surveillance system for tracking the object made results in various problems such like occlusion, image noise during the tracking process. It makes difficulties on image based moving object tracking. Therefore, to overcome the difficulties the multi video surveillance system which installed several camera within interested area and looking the same object from multi angles of view could be considered as a solution. If multi cameras are used for tracking object, it is capable of making a decision having high accuracy in more wide space. This paper proposes a method of recognizing and tracking a specific object like a car using the homography in which multi cameras are installed at the crossroad.

  • Service areas in the urban transit need to construct the intelligent integrated surveillance system, because they are the public places that many people get together at one time. In past, analogue, closed-circuit televisions and analogue video recorders are used to construct the surveillance system. Now, a lot parts of the analogue systems that depend on the images have been changed to the complicated system, which consists of sensors and images and also, to be digitalized. In past, the surveillance system was used as an inspection devices to examine the spots after happening some events. But, with a high level of the computer and communication technologies, it is possible that the digitalized data leads the intelligence systems to prevent some accidents by using the various analysis techniques. And the data could be used to decide surveillance policies and provide some information on the safety and management policies as well as surveillance policies. In this paper, we define the intelligent surveillance system and suggest the major functions of the system. Also, we suggest the fundamental functions that every part should get and describe the way to develop the system.

  • In this paper, we propose a collaborative tracking algorithm for intelligent video surveillance systems using the multiple network cameras. To do this, each camera detects a moving object and it's movement direction by motion templates. Once a moving object is detect, the Kalman filter is used to reduce noises, and a collaborative tracking camera is selected according to the movement direction and the camera state. In this procedure, Pan-Tilt-Zoom(PTZ) parameters are assigned to obtain clear images. Finally, some experiments show the validity of the proposed method.

  • Recently, intelligent predictive surveillance system has emerged. It is a system that can probabilistically predict the future situation and event based on the existing data beyond the scope of the current object or object motion and situation recognition. Since such intelligent predictive monitoring system has a high possibility of handling personal information, security consideration is essential for protecting personal information. The existing video surveillance framework has limitations in terms of privacy. In this paper, we proposed a security framework for intelligent predictive surveillance system. In the proposed method, detailed components for each unit are specified by dividing them into terminals, transmission, monitoring, and monitoring layers. In particular, it supports active personal information protection in the video surveillance process by supporting detailed access control and de-identification.
