Robot-Assisted Learning in r-Learning (r-Learning에서의 로봇보조학습)

  • As the educational use of intelligent service robots has been proved to be effective, educational service robots have been utilized in kindergarten. In addition, service robots will be used in elementary schools from 2010 for the after-school English program. This trend indicates that r-Learning using service robots will become a major educational paradigm in preparing for future education. This article consists of the following four parts. First, the concept and the type of educational robots were defined and the trend of previous research was examined. Second, the characteristics of robot-assisted learning were analyzed as a part of r-Learning, and difference between r-Learning and u-Learning was compared. Third, the contents and service using a robot-assisted learning system were discussed, the models and trend of service using the robot-assisted learning system were examined, and the aspects of viewing evolution were compared. Finally, suggestions for activating the service market of robot-assisted learning were made for the educational institution, research institution, government and robot companies.

  • According to the increasing of the internet infrastructure and growth of contents technology, the users can access an education service at anytime and anywhere. In a field of English education, especially, internet technology has enabled learners to communicate with their teachers and multimedia contents technology has been able to provide learner not only lots of interests, but also good effect on English learning. In this paper, we propose a method diagnosing learner's level by using some question-items, which consist of item's type and item's function. Futhermore, the proposed system can support three devices which are PC, PDA, and Mobile Phone on wired and wireless internet communication environments. Also, the system provides multimedia contents including flash movies, image, and audio contents. We have applied the system into real classroom, and we verified that the question-items that system provides has no problem, and our method could improve each learner skill on English education. Therefore, we expect that learner who uses the proposed system will get level-based English learning service at anytime and anywhere.

A Multimedia Contents Recommendation System using Preference Transition Probability (선호도 전이 확률을 이용한 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 추천 시스템)

  • Recently Digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) has been available as a commercial service. The users sometimes have difficulty in finding their preferred multimedia contents and need to spend a lot of searching time finding them. They are even very likely to miss their preferred contents while searching for them. In order to solve the problem, we need a method for recommendation users preferred only minimum information. We propose an algorithm and a system for recommending users' preferred contents using preference transition probability from user's usage history. The system includes four agents: a client manager agent, a monitoring agent, a learning agent, and a recommendation agent. The client manager agent interacts and coordinates with the other modules, the monitoring agent gathers usage data for analyzing the user's preference of the contents, the learning agent cleans the gathered usage data and modeling with state transition matrix over time, and the recommendation agent recommends the user's preferred contents by analyzing the cleaned usage data. In the recommendation agent, we developed the recommendation algorithm using a user's preference transition probability for the contents. The prototype of the proposed system is designed and implemented on the WIPI(Wireless Internet Platform for Interoperability). The experimental results show that the recommendation algorithm using a user's preference transition probability can provide better performances than a conventional method.

  • 유비쿼터스 환경에서 러닝 서비스는 언제, 어디서, 어떠한 물리적 장치에 구애받지 않고 사용자에게 적절한 서비스를 제공할 수 있어야 한다. 그러한 u-러닝 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 학습자 수준을 정확히 판단할 수 있는 진단 기법이 필요하다. 또한 u-러닝 서비스에서 학습자의 학습 환경을 정확히 파악하여 이에 적절한 형태의 학습 컨텐츠를 제공하는 학습 컨텐츠 적응화 기술도 요구된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 온톨로지 모델링을 이용하여 학습자의 프로파일과 학습 컨텐츠를 모델링하고, 모델링된 프로파일 정보와 컨텐츠 정보를 온톨로지 추론 규칙을 정의함으로서 학습자의 학습 정보를 정확히 파악하고 학습자에게 적절한 학습 컨텐츠를 제공할 수 있는 온톨로지 모델링과 추론을 기반으로 유비쿼터스 환경에서 학습자의 정보와 각 이종 디바이스에 대해 적합한 학습 컨텐츠를 제공할 수 있는 u-러닝 시스템을 제안한다.

  • 인터넷 환경의 변화에 따라 텍스트 기반의 정보 전달에서 멀티미디어 기반의 스트리밍 방식으로 바뀌어가고 있다. 또한 대용량의 동영상 데이터뿐 아니라 Shorts, Clip Reels 또는 등 다양한 방식의 동영상 형태로 배포되고 있으며 서비스 플랫폼에서는 손쉽게 편집할 수 있도록 기능을 제공하고 있다. 대용량 콘텐츠, TV, Youtue 콘텐츠를 포함하여 소용량 동영상 편집에 필요한 영상 제작 기술에서 가장 인력과 시간이 많이 소요되는 부분은 편집 단계로 딥러닝 기반 인공지능 기술을 활용하여 자동화하고 있으며 영상편집에서 가장 기본이 되는 단위인 씬검출 기법을 개발하였다. 키프레임 검출 기법과 유사도 기법을 이용하여 씬을 추출하였으며 블록 Cost Function을 이용하여 최적화하여 0.5214의 정확도를 도출하였다.

  • Ubiquitous computing and mobile technologies provide much scope for designing innovative learning experiences that can take place in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings, such as botanical gardens, parks, museums and classrooms. In this paper, we present our own innovative work for bridging indoor and outdoor field-trip learning activities with the support of RFID with reader device on ubiquitous environments. The function of our system is based on strategically located RFID tags placed on objects around settings which are identified using the mobile device installed to an RFID reader. The mobile device reads the RFID tag and sends the learner's request to the field-trip learning system. And learners can be learning activities according to theirs learning levels. We also focus on the use of intelligent agents to customize learning contents for individual learners. The result of our experiment indicates that learner enjoyed learning where mobile devices are used in the system, supporting the learning activities in the context of which they are taking place.

  • To achieve a computer tutor framework with high learning effects as well as practicality, the goal of this research has been set to developing an intelligent tutor for problem-solving in mathematics domain. The maine feature of the CyberTutor, a computer tutor developed in this research, is the facilitation of a learning environment interacting in accordance with the learners differing inferential capabilities and needs. The pedagogical information, the driving force of such an interactive learning, comprises of tutoring strategies used commonly in various domains such as phvsics and mathematics, in which the main contents of learning is the comprehension and the application of principles. These tutoring strategies are those of testing learners hypotheses test, providing hints, and generating explanations. We illustrate the feasibility and the behavior of our propose framework with a sample problem-solving learning in geometry. The proposed tutorial framework is an advancement from previous works in several aspects. Firstly, it is more practical since it supports handing of a wide range of problem types, including not only proof types but also finding-unkown tpes. Secondly, it is aimed at facilitating a personal tutor environment by adapting to learners of varying capabilities. Finally, learning effects are maximized by its tutorial dialogues which are derived from real-time problem-solving inference instead of from built-in procedures.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an intelligent parking dispatching system based on LoRa network technology. During the local festival, many tourists come into the festival site simultaneously after sunset. To handle the traffic jam and parking dispatching, many traffic management staffs are engaged in the main road to guide the cars to available parking lots. Nevertheless, the traffic problems are more serious at the peak time of festival. Such parking dispatching problems are complex and real-time traffic information dependent. We used Queuing theory to predict inbound traffics and to measure parking service performance. Q-learning algorithm is used to find fastest routes and dispatch the vehicles efficiently to the available parking lots.

  • ITS(Intelligent Tutoring System) is a system that provides active and flexible tutoring conditions to learners, having adopted artificial intelligence to overcome the limitations of CAI(Computer Assisted Instruction). However, the existing ITS has a few problems; the system provides the same contents to every learner, not considering main variants of their learning and achievement, characters and levels, and therefore, it does not generate satisfactory results; the system does not offer a properly designed course schedule. Therefore, this thesis proposes ARS(Adaptive Recommendation System), founded on ITS, that provides contents designed based on the characters and levels of learners. To catch the characters of learners, the important variant for successful learning, ARS applies and embodies a module of self-assessment test. Also, it puts weighs according to the areas of learning which is different from the simplified assessment that asks for short and mechanical answers for the purpose of knowing the levels of the learners.

Analysis of the Government's Introduction to Artificial Intelligence(AI): Focusing on the Central Government Organizations (정부의 인공지능 도입에 관한 분석: 중앙정부조직을 중심으로)

  • The necessity for introducing artificial intelligence(AI) into the public sector to form an intelligent government has been emerging. This study set 'Organizational Agility', 'Exploitation & Exploration Learning', and 'E-government Capability' as independent variables for the introduction of AI in central government. Dependent variables were set on whether AI was adopted in the central government organization 'Bu(mainly conducts policy planning)', and 'Cheong(mainly performs policy execution)'. Logistic regression analysis was performed on each of the two models. As a result, it was derived that ministry Bu adopted AI as organizational agility increased, and ministry Chung adopted AI as e-government capability increased. Particularly, it was identified that the effect of exploitation learning for Cheong organizations offset the influence of AI introduction according to e-government capabilities, while exploratory organizational learning facilitated the AI introduction. This study is meaningful for suggesting a strategy for adopting AI in government.
