  • This research fulfills two objectives of the study relating to the analysis of changing intellectual structure and its development of Korean history during 1980s: 1) investigation of intellectural structures of two successive time periods using author co-citation study analysis: 2) validation of the results of author co-citation analysis using assessments of experts collected from scholarly reviews and direct data drawn from the researchers in the area of Korean history. Three approaches to multivariate analysis as multi-dimensional scaling, cluster analysis, and factor analysis are used to display the inter-author relationships in the author similarity matrix.

  • Co-Authorship analysis is a kind of bibliometric analysis. and a well established tool for character of knowledge network in some technical fields. If more than two authors co-author an article, there is a relation of knowledge. So This study aims at discovering the trends and phases of OLED technology using co-authorship analysis, a kind of bibliographic analysis. The Science Citation Index Expanded(SCIE) database was used to search for the number of times paired Korean articles were co-authored in OLED field.

  • Author co-citation analysis with 20 authors from Korean Nutrition Literature were executed. The purpose of this study is to examine the meaning of bibliographic phenomena in Korean literature by co-citation and to approach the intellectural structure of nutrition field in view of multidimensional space. The analysis assumes that the more two author are cited together, the closer the relationship between them. The raw data are co-citation counts from the Korean Journal of Nutrition over the period 1986~1987. The resulting map shows (1) identifiable author groups of nutrition, (2) locations of these groups with respect to each other, (3) the degree of centrality and peripherality of author within groups, (4) the relationship between domestic authors and foreign authors.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and compare the intellectual structure of cardiovascular research area in Korea and the United States. For the purpose of this study, a data set was collected; one journal Korean Circulation Journal is in Korea and two journals Circulation, and Circulation Research are in the United States. Based on the frequency of citation counts, 45 authors and 53 authors were selected for author co-citation analysis. By multidimensional scaling, clustering, and factor analyses, the results demonstrate that researchers in both countries commonly tend to work on several, rather than focus on certain sub-areas. In both countries, the core areas are revealed as 'cardiovascular disease treatment', 'cardiovascular disease diagnose', 'cardiovascular disease fundamentals', and 'cardiovascular disease preventives'. One of distinctive differences between two is that research in Korea is likely to focus on clinical medicines while research in the United States tends to be on fundamental medicines. While the area of 'Disorders of Rhythm' is revealed in Korea, 'Pharmacology of the Cardiovascular System' area is found in the United States. In addition, the sub-areas of fundamental medicines such as 'Epidemiology of Cardiovascular Disease', 'Biology', 'Biochemistry', 'Physiology' are revealed distinctively in the United States.
