In every society, citizens must decide how to punish criminals, uphold the virtue of justice, and preserve the security of the community. In doing so, the members of society must ask themselves how they will punish those who carry out the most abhorrent of crimes. Many common responses to such a question is that death is an acceptable punishment for the most severe crimes. But to draw some theoretical distinction between a crime that deserves incarceration and a crime that is so heinous that it deserves capital punishment is subject to three errors. First, what possible line could be drawn? To decide on a particular number of deaths or to employ any standard would be arbitrary. Second, the use of a line would trivialize and undermine the deaths of those whose murderers fell below the standard. Third, any and all executions still are unjust, as the State should not degrade the institution of justice and dehumanize an individual who, although he or she has no respect for other human life, is still a living person. Simply put, all murders are heinous, all are completely unacceptable, and deserve the greatest punishment of the land; however, death as punishment is inappropriate. Also, while this article arrives at the conclusion that the death penalty is an inappropriate form of punishment, I have not offered an acceptable alternative that would appease those who believe capital offenders deserve a punishment that differs in its quality and severity. This is a burden that, admittedly, I am unable to meet. I finally conclude that the death penalty is unjustified retribution. This is the only claim that can effectively shift the intellectual paradigms of the participants in the debate. The continued use of the death penalty in society can only be determined and influenced by the collective conscience of the members of that society. As stated at the outset of this article, it is this essentially moral conflict regarding what is just and degrading that forms the backdrop for the past changes in and the present operation of our system of imposing death as a punishment for crime.

The purpose of this study is to review the relationship between transformational leadership(charisma, individual consideration, intellectual stimulation, inspiration) and knowledge management, and the moderating effect of social(trust and interaction) in small business. In order to verify and achieve the purposes mentioned above, questionnaire data are gathered and analysed from 311 subjects in Kangwon-do province. Multiple regression and multiple hierarchical regression analysis were applied to test these hypotheses: 1) the relationship between transformational leadership and knowledge management, 2) the moderating effect of trust on the relationship between transformational leadership and knowledge management, 3) the moderating effect of interaction on the relationship between transformational leadership and knowledge management. Empirical survey's findings are as follows; First, individual consideration and inspiration leadership appeared to be positively related with all knowledge management(knowledge creation, transfer, application). Second, charisma was verified to be positively related with knowledge creation only. Third, charisma and inspirational leaderships were more positively with knowledge creation in higher trust group than in lower trust group. Fourth, intellectual stimulation and inspirational leaderships were more positively with knowledge creation in higher interaction group than in lower interaction group. Fifth, individual consideration was more positively with knowledge application in higher interaction group than in lower interaction group.
The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of business scope and technological innovation capability(TIC) on firm performance in SMEs. Among the 1,077 SME sample data collected with the help of Korean Industrial Complex Corporation, 228 sample data from capital goods sectors had been selected and analyzed. Several mutiple regression models were developed to test the main and the interaction effects of two independent variables business scope and TIC on SME performance. The empirical analysis show that the number of product lines, one of the two scope variable measured, is positively correlated with the return on sales(ROS). Among the variable of TIC, the number of intellectual property rights(IPRs) is positively correlated with the sales growth rates of SMEs, which the ratio of engineers to total employees is positively correlated with the ROS of SMEs. The results also delineated some interaction effects of business scope and TIC on SME performance. There exists a positive interaction effect of the ratio of engineers to total employees and the number of product lines both on ROS and scales growth rate. The interaction of the number of customers and the number of IPRs positively effects on ROS, and also the interaction of the number of product lines and the number of IPRs are positively related with ROS. Findings of this research indicates that it is necessary for SMEs in capital goods sectors to accumulate technological innovation capability and to expand business scope to improve firm performance. Furthermore, the accumulation of internal TIC should accommodate with the expansion of business scope to gain an improved performance. Particularly, adequate technological innovation capability is required to address the need of expanded customers when enlarging the scope of customers.
It is very important to establish precisely the historical phases of nursing. We nurses should try to acquire the central social position in the health management system in the near the future, the 21st Century. Therefore my treatise aims to orient the desirable phases of the history of nursing through the feministic survey of the history of nursing from the post medieval epoche to the modern epoche. During the time of the renaissance which gave morning light to the modern epoche, the antique Athenian thinking of sex was again revived. Athenian excluded the women from the public and autonomous regions. All the medical activity, once dominated by the women, was misfortunately regarded as superstition acted by witches. Accordingly, the nursing women were to hunted as witches. In short, in the early modern epoche, women began to be excluded from the history of medical activities. In the middle modern epoche characterized by the enlightenment movement and early capital economic system, capitalistic patriarchal system began to be formed by change in the economic system. The status of women began to be greatly dropped below by the social distinction of the private dimension of home and the Public dimension of job. The woman was deprived of even the occasion to get the official license of medicine and medical institutions were handed to the state or the powerful and rich merchants. Accordingly, nursing acted mainly in the nunnery as the total approach to the patients was destructed wholly and transformed into the means of earning the money. Therefore unprepared low class -women began to engage in nursing only for the money. From then on, nursing activity was tunneled through the dark age for 200 years. In the late modern epoche characterized by the contrast of the accumulated vast capital by industrialization and vast poverty of the peoples, feminism began to float over the surface for the acquisition of equality of men and women from England. A feminist, Nightingale insisted that the women as nurses should be responsible for the healthy life of man. She tried the professional nursing education for women. Accordingly she not only contributed to the intellectual progress of women but also inspired in women the consciousness of the professional job. She tried to realize the ideal of at-that-time-feminists by engaging in nursing all through life. She really paved the road to contemporary nursing. In the near the future, I will write to describe how the late modern epoche nursing has fallen into the dilemma through the 1st and 2nd world wars and matured capitalism and to consider contemporary nursing with the status of women. All these papers aim to give proper recognition of nursing and right orientation of the future 21st Century nursing.
The old sources of competitive edge and value added were land, labor, and capital. In today's knowledge-based economy in the 21st century, technology is attracting attention as a new engine of growth. That paradigm shift of world economy has resulted in the global spread of technology transfer and the gradual increase of trade of intangible goods including patents and know-how as well as tangible goods in international trade. An international license agreement is a representative form of technology transfer. In license agreements, the providers of technology keep their ownership of technology, allow the implementation of technology to the users of technology only for a certain period of time, and receive loyalty as a reward. Economic profit through such technology trade can be realized with the smooth implementation and termination of agreement. International license agreements are different from sales contracts, which represent international business transaction based on mutual obligation, in many aspects in that they target intangible goods of technology and aim for rent for a certain period of time. This study thus set out to examine issues that could be controversial in the main and individual obligation of the parties in international license agreements and provide implications helpful for the prevention of disputes in advance.
As urbanization and its consequences become the issue of modern cities, the concept of Smart City comes as the solution. Though a lot of researches on the topic is done, still no clear definition is given for both: Smart City itself and the factors of a successful Smart City. While most of the literature centers the role of ICT it is not a sufficient condition for a city to become Smart; the role of intellectual capital is underestimated. Using a collection of Smart City definitions across the time and providing concrete cases, this research seeks to bridge definition gaps and creates a tool for understanding Smart Cities. Drawing on the findings of several case studies, this research derives several explanatory factors. The citizen's engagement and governance are identified as the two key success factors of Smart City Projects along with ICT and other factors as enablers. The research has purpose as follows: 1) To bridge definition gaps of the "Smart City" by defining the term "Smart City," based on existing concepts and characteristic mechanisms across times.; 2) To develop an analytical tool for Smart City success factors through Explanatory Variables.; and 3) To identify major challenges and barriers of Smart City Projects implementations and to provide recommendations and solutions, based on existing governmental initiatives and pilot projects. The research contributes to the knowledge of smart cities and ICT integration for urbanization issues solution. By applying the findings of this research at the managerial level stakeholders may benefit by getting higher efficiency of the Smart City Projects and by utilizing knowledge and values of a Smart City Projects in a prioritized way.

There is growing importance for intellectual capital, so corporations are developing Knowledge Management System (KMS) for Knowledge Management. There are two way in performing Knowledge Management, that is, Information Technology(IT) approach and Non-IT approach. IT approach focuses on developing KMS, and Non-IT approach people, business process, organizational culture and policy. According to interviews with experts and people in charge of knowledge management divisions, the IT approach and Non-IT approach should be adopted simultaneously for effective knowledge management. And, more focus should be placed especially on the Non-IT approach than IT approach for successful knowledge management. This research analyzed success and failure factors in knowledge management by questionnaire for experts and employees.
Knowledge management is systematic management of vital knowledge resources and its associated processes of creating, gathering, organizing, diffusion, use and exploitation. A key challenge emerging for such organizations is how to encourage knowledge sharing within organization because knowledge is the organization's intellectual capital, of increasing importance in promoting competitive advantages. Isolated initiatives for promoting knowledge sharing and team collaboration, without taking consideration of the knowledge sharing limitations and constraints can defeat further development of KM culture. This article investigates knowledge sharing bottlenecks and proposes the use of community of practice as an effective instrument for knowledge sharing. The article demonstrates the opportunity for overcoming barriers of knowledge sharing through the application of communities of practice. The article introduces a steel company case as the best practice of communities of practice. Then, the paper empirically analyzes the case study to provide evidence for the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.
An analysis of railroad industry has been insufficient whereas there are lots of analysis of accumulation of technology, economic performances and ripple effects for macroscopic view and other industry of R&D investments. This study decided intellectual rights, patent, and paper as common indicators of scientific and technological performances for setting up performance targets through surveying and analysis of preceding study and verified a appropriateness of scientific and technological performances for railroad R&D 11 projects which were successfully finished. Preceding study has been set up performance targets by research investments as input, but this study made a performance target by model through a cross-sectional and residual analysis of performances of railroad R&D 11 Projects in applying research investments, capital investments and inner labor cost per man and research time as inputs, and verified a validity and a empirical analysis through analysis of other project.
This aim of this study is identify research trends and intellectual structure in the field of Korean journalism and communication studies. For this purpose, a semantic network analysis was employed to analyze keywords in the abstracts of published articles in the Korean Journal of Journalism and Communication Studies from 2005 to 2015. The results showed that "frame", "Twitter", "content analysis" and "social media" are among the most frequently used keywords in the abstracts during this period. With regards to degree and eigenvector centrality, "social capital", "trust" and "twitter" were among the highest. The findings of the periodic characteristics of research trends revealed that there are more studies that employ the traditional media effect theories including Uses and Gratification Theory, Agenda Setting Theory, and Framing Theory before the year of 2010 while those that focus on the specific new media such as smartphones and twitter after 2011. This study has implications in the sense that it can be used as guidelines for making a curriculum or establishing the research system for Korean journalism and communication studies in the future.
