  • In order to understand the broad outline and palaeobotanical significances, the fossil woods from the Korean Peninsula were integrated through the literature surveys. Types and diversity of them are gradually increasing from Mesozoic to Cenozoic, especially increased sharply in Cenozoic. During the Early Mesozoic, six conifer taxa belonging to four genera were described, which corresponds to about 6% of the Daedong flora. Those of the Late Mesozoic are all conifers, consisting of fifteen taxa belonging to seven genera, which corresponds to about 29% of the Nakdong flora. During the Neogene, thirty four taxa belong to sixteen families were described. Those woods mostly consist of dicotyledon and have the greatest diversity compared to other geologic eras, which corresponds to about 83% of the Janggi flora. It is inferred that such a rapid increase of the silicified wood fossils in Neogene are due to the abundant presence of dicotyledon in floral composition and of pyroclastic rocks in strata, which are appropriate for preserving wood as fossils.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine the possible direction of critical care nursing research in the future by analyzing the trends of recent Korean studies. Method : Using a database search, we selected 263 articles on critical care nursing that were published in Korean journals between 2008 and 2017. Then, we conducted an integrative review of the contents of the selected articles and analyzed the English abstracts using the relevant packages and functions of the R program. Results : The number of studies concerning critical care nursing has increased over the 10-year period, and the specific topic of each study has diversified according to the time at which it was conducted. In terms of quality, the majority of the research was published in high-level academic journals. The key words regularly studied over the past decade were: knowledge, delirium, education, restraint, stress, and infection. Studies related to vancomycin-resistant enterococci infection, compliance, and standards have decreased, while studies related to death, communication, and safety have increased. Conclusion : Randomized controlled trials and protocol research for evidence-based critical care need to be conducted, as does research on family involvement. The key word analysis of unstructured text used in this study is a relatively new method; it is suggested that this method be applied to various critical care nursing research and develop it methodologically.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine factors influencing adolescents' suicidal ideation and provide foundational data to reduce adolescents' suicidal ideation and prevent their suicide based on that. According to the research results, there was no significant difference found in demographic characteristics. And depression, stress, and social support exerted significant influence on suicidal ideation. As depression and stress became higher, suicidal ideation increased. When other factors were controlled, suicidal ideation increased if social support was provided less. Based on the study results, the study has made political suggestions as follows: first, regarding the family support system, it is needed to adopt institutional approaches so that they can participate in many different types of education to improve relationship between parents and children. Second, about the school support system, it is necessary to develop programs to form teacher and peer support relations and build the friend support resource system. Third, in terms of the community support system, it is required to build an integrated support system to form diverse local networks.

  • In this study, the finite element analysis was carried out to investigate dynamic characteristics of the AGF(Active Gurney Flap) which is under development for reducing vibration and noise of the helicopter rotor system. The Gurney flap is a kind of small flat plate, mounted normal to the lower surface of the airfoil near to the trailing edge. An electric motor, L-shaped linkages and flap parts were integrated into a rotor bade, and 3~5/rev control was given to the AGF to reduce the vibration in the fixed frame. Thus, an explicit time integration method was adopted to investigate the dynamic response of the AGF with considering both centrifugal force due to the rotor rotation and active control input, and it can be seen that the vertical displacement of the AGF was satisfied to meet the design requirement.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the 'Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education' filed by the ACRL (Association of College and Research Libraries) Board on February 2, 2015 and adopted on January 11, 2016. Six concepts central to information literacy in Framework and four main theories or models (i.e., threshold concepts, metaliteracy, Backward Design, and Liminal Space) underpinning the Framework were analyzed. The Framework provides conceptual or descriptive approach. In addition, the Framework is not designed to be implemented in a single information literacy session in a student's academic career. Instead, it is intended to be systematically integrated into the student's academic program at variety of levels. This study recommends curricular development and assessment methods supporting Framework as a further study.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine female consumers' attitudes and purchase intentions toward intimate apparel brands. To understand female consumers' shopping behaviors for intimate apparel products, this study examined interrelationships among brand familiarity, perceived risk, attitudes, and purchase intentions toward intimate apparel brands. A conceptual model was developed by adopting perceived risk theory (Cox, 1967) and theory of reasoned action (Ajzen & Fishbein, 1980). A pre-survey using a paper and pencil was conducted to identify the most familiar intimate apparel brand to young female consumers. The majority of pre-survey respondents (66 female college students) indicated Victoria's Secret as the most prominent intimate apparel brand. Therefore, Victoria's Secret was used to examine possible effects of brand familiarity on perceived risk and attitudinal and behavioral responses toward the brand. Using a web-based survey, 384 complete responses were collected from young female college students between the ages of 18-29 at a Mid-southern U.S. university. A structural equation modeling was employed to test the proposed research model and hypotheses. Results showed positive, statistically significant associations among the four variables (e.g., brand familiarity, perceived risk, attitudes, and purchase intentions). The findings suggested that young female consumers who are familiar with a particular intimate apparel brand are likely to perceive a low level of risk, leading to positive, strong attitudes with purchase intentions toward that particular intimate apparel brand. This suggests establishing brand familiarity through integrated marketing communication is crucial for risk reduction strategy in intimate apparel shopping.

  • Childhood Cancer Foundation of ROC(CCFROC) has been founded since 1982. Its goal is to provide comprehensive care for cancer children and their families. And in turn, under the provision of good and complete care, they can be back to the school and society. To achieve this goal, it needs to get every body's effort of the society together. The foundation has been founder under this concept and tried to fulfil this task. The first step is to educate the public to know that childhood cancer can be cured and the process of treatment is long and expensive. In order to reach this life-saving procedure, campaigns for raising money is most important thing. Then, pediatric hematologists / oncologists try to organize study group, named Taiwan Pediatric Qncology Goupp(TPOG), to make treatment protocols for childhood cancers. Its primary purpose is to increase the cure rate to prove the earlier the diagnosis and treatment, the better the prognosis. The second step is to provide full support of medical expenses and further to give help for emergent need to living. Through the varieties of active exercises of cancer children or families, foundation provides opportunities for them to share the experience during the different periods of diseases. The third step is to extend the scope of training activities for many kinds of personnel who devote to the care for cancer children. On the other hand, it promotes the cooperation or communication with international organizations and sets up recreation playing ground in the communities. The aim is to provide a comprehensive and integrated care for cancer children during their education, breeding and even accomplishment period. Besides the financial support of medical care, it provides social services to give psychological support for children and their families, to strengthen doctor-patients or doctor-families relationship. The foundation provides the mourning religious activities to cherish the memory of their children who passed away and to comfort their sadness. Since the childhood cancer is curable, its treatment should be active, comprehensive and it needs to provide to all cancer children without exception. Indeed, the work of CCFROC should be changed according to the environment and different time period. But, it needs the full support from the society. We hope the scope and content of the work will be more extended and its achievement will be better than now in the future.

  • The purpose of this research is to arouse attention to the importance of eliminating the 'Shadow Encroaching Phenomena on the Essence' in advertising expression by interdisciplinarily applying ethicality. This research shows that when advertising expression is planned and executed without enough consideration of ethicality, short-term effectiveness to reach goals can be increased, but it is easy to induce an unintended 'Shadows' Boomerang Phenomena'. This research also proposes that such processes arouse consumers' ethical defense mechanisms, possibly causing the 'Shadow Encroaching Phenomena' in the end. In conclusion, this research proposes the following. First, the pursuit of commercial profit in a capitalistic society must be done under the premise of securing a consensus of ethicality in a common society. Second, under the premise of an integrated process of education, sharing, execution, and confirmation of ethicality, companies can achieve both the micro-practical goal of profit pursuit and the macro-environmental goal of ecological sympathy.

  • Purpose: Factors associated with ever-use and differences between ever-users and non-users of tobacco among adolescent school students from low income families in Mumbai were assessed. Materials and Methods: A self-administered questionnaire, completed by 1918 students from grades 7, 8 and 9 in 12 schools managed by the city municipal corporation in July 2015, gathered data on socio-demographic characteristics, tobacco use and tobacco-related knowledge, attitudes and beliefs. Results: Although only 1% of respondents thought tobacco was cool, nearly 35% were unaware of associations between tobacco use and health problems. Male students were almost twice as likely (OR=2.5, P <= 0.05) to have ever used tobacco compared to females and Supari (areca nut) users were eight times more likely (OR=8.99, P < 0.001) than Supari non -users. Tobacco-users were more likely to agree with statements: 'People who use tobacco have more friends' (OR=2.8, P = 0.004), 'Smoking relieves stress' (OR=5.6, P = 0.002) and 'It is possible to purchase any tobacco product within 100 yards of school' (OR=10.8, P < 0.001). Conclusion: This study highlights the gains made by tobacco prevention campaigns in that almost all students did not consider tobacco as cool or a stress reliever. However, they still need education about health consequences of tobacco-use. In addition, Supari use has to be addressed in school-based tobacco prevention and cessation initiatives. Furthermore, programs must also address perceptions and norms related to peers and tobacco use and ensure active implementation of existing laws. Such integrated measures will help ensure tobacco-free spaces around schools.
