Recently, the tendency for young people losing interest in science has accelerated. This tendency is remarkable for not only Japan but also some countries of Asia. It is thought that this tendency was brought from the decrease of the chance to watch the actual manufacturing activities, and the decrease of the real experience which children makes something in their childhood. In order to bring up the capable engineers on such a social background, making a product practice which promotes the understanding of the application of theory for manufacturing products is important in addition to study by the text book. In this study, some practical work materials for the lower grades in the college were developed. Integration of the developed materials and the course of study becomes an effective teaching method of the of subjects on a special field. Arranging this practical work on the learning process makes a high effect of the integrated practical work on the curriculum.

The concept of the design thinking can be effective in engineering design process especially in developing the appropriate technology product. In this paper we analyze the student's design activities during the 'Creative and Integrated Design Academy for the other 90%' to solve the problems in the developing countries from the perspective of the design thinking. Based on this analysis we propose the direction of the creative and integrated design activities to solve the appropriate technology products and also the direction of the future engineering design process.

The objective of this study is intended to propose plans for reforming environmental impact assessment(EIA) systems by reviewing the current legal systems of EIA related laws and their implementation status in Korea, and by comparing the Korean situation to EIA systems in several foreign countries. This study tried to integrate all EIA related systems scattered over several laws into one comprehensive EIA law, and also to develop legal procedures necessary to accomplish the legislative purpose of the integrated EIA law. Therefore, I propose four reforms (1) All EIA systems should be integrated into one comprehensive EIA act. (2) Administrative plans and policies, though environmentally harmful, which are not currently subject to any prior consultation system, should be covered by the prior consultation system. (3) A screening or scoping should be adopted. (4) Widen civil participation should be encouraged and the administrative control enforcement and introduction of group litigation or citizen suits would be considered.

This study analysed how to divide the maintenance of infrastructure in overseas countries' rail reform from train operation to get implications for KNR's reform. Sweden and United Kingdom divided the maintenance of infrastructure from train operation. France divided the two functions just only in laws and train operator is entrusted the maintenance of infrastructure. Germany divided the two functions but not completely, so integrated indirectly through the holding company, DB AG. Japan integrated the two functions into train operator, but separated the construction of infrastructure from the train operator. From these analysis, the authors suggest to make clear the goals of rail reform to assess the success or failure of dividing the two functions directly or indirectly.

Existing in all countries around the world by using fossil fuels to minimize environmental changes are developing a new alternative energy sources. Among the emerging alternative energy, using solar energy technology is applied across the industry, but the maintenance and repair to integrate solar cells and has been a problem occurs. To prolong the life of cells integrated on a solar cell is exposed when the non-eye, etc., when not integrated by the solar cells should not be exposed. In order to resolve these contradictions, a intellectual solar green street lighting was developed by using Q(Quick)-TRIZ.

In the environment of protectionism and bilateral trade agreements, Korea has promoted the conclusion of FTAs for its export-oriented trading policy, and 16 FTAs have entered into force at present. The main goal of this paper is to introduce the ISI system and its benefits and to extend the preferential rule of origin regime by using the Integrated Sourcing Initiative in the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations. The ISI illustrates with impressive clarity the fact that it considered as a tool of expanding the geographic limit of states and maximizing the global sourcing strategy of multinational corporations, allowing the developing countries to gain access to the market of developed ones that avoid the complexity and costs of many rules of origin regimes. This paper utilizes the literature research and analyzes a case study of FTAs which have adopted the ISI system. In conclusion, it presents several implications of additional measures to satisfy rules of origin in Korea's existing FTAs relating to the global supply chain strategy.

The purpose of this paper is to propose an successful implementation plan for national R&D program integrated information system. First, we surveyed and analyzed the status and plan of the national R&D program information system in developed countries (especially, the United States and Japan) Second, we reviewed the implementation background, limitation and further plan of the information systems related to R&D program in Korea. Last, division of the work and an successful plan in implementing the national R&D program integrated information system are discussed.

With the foundation of the WTO in 1995, the era of boundless and unlimited competition between many of the countries around the world has begun. In order to elevate the competitiveness in the international market, we have incorporated the QMS and the EMS system, establish by the International Standardization Organization, and the process has been operated under the authorization. However, many Korea companies' separate enforcement of the QMS and the EMS system is causing the dissipation of the labor force and the invested capital. As we can see through studying the contents on this paper, the number of documents has been reduced down to 54% (From 139 of them to 64 of them), and the conflict and the chaos that could have happened between the documents has been prevented. Its' outcome is attributed to the foundation and the embarkation on the Integrated Management Systems of the KS, QMS, and EMS. Not only that, it has also reduced the waste elements up to greater than 40%.

In recent years alternative navigation system such as a DBRN (Data-Base Referenced Navigation) system using geophysical information is getting attention in the military navigation systems in advanced countries. Specifically TRN (Terrain Referenced Navigation) algorithm research is important because TRN system is a practical DBRN application in South Korea at present time. This paper presents an integrated navigation algorithm that combines a linear profile-based TRN and INS (Inertial Navigation System). We propose a correlation analysis method between TRN performance and terrain roughness index. Then we propose a conditional position update scheme that utilizes the position output of the conventional linear profile type TRN depending on the terrain roughness index. Performance of the proposed algorithm is verified through Monte Carlo computer simulations using the actual terrain database. The results show that the TRN/INS integrated algorithm, even when the initial INS error is present, overcomes the shortcomings of linear profile-based TRN and improves navigation performance.
